Anyone else think the little girl in the spacesuit could be Amy’s Daughter about 10 years old? That would make sense to me as at the beginning there was a few years between the Doctor’s timeline?

Well the way it is left, it certainly seems like the Doctor dies in 11th incarnation (Matt Smith)…but I’m sure that between a little bit of timey wimey paradoxing and the crack in time re-writing everything AND the fact the older Doctor sent an invite to his younger self must mean he has something up his sleeve…I just hope its not as lame as the “Remembering him back into existance” finale of last year – sorry SM – I love your writing but I was a tad disappointed with that ended (which was another take on ‘it was all a dream’).

River Isnt The Astoronaut Did’t U See Trailer For Next Time

    • ajoshmilesproduction

      April 24th, 2011 - 8:19pm

River can’t be the astronaut, looking at the trailer for next time. But it was a big shock that the doctor ‘died’, AND that Amelia Pond is Pregnant!

      April 25th, 2011 - 7:05pm

Who says the person inside the astronaut is the same person in 1969 and 2011? You never saw the face of the person inside the astronaut in 2011. I don’t think River is inside the 2011 Lake Astronaut because she would REMEMBER killing the doctor, because she HAS killed a good man, not WILL kill a good man. And if she remembered, she would not be shocked by the astronaut coming out of the lake.
I am very sure that it is not the girl INSIDE the suit. The suit is far too big for her, and her head didn’t really look 3D. It’s like a projection, like the 2D faces they had in The Idiot’s Lantern. She said on the phone the spaceman was going to eat her, so maybe it has by the time they got there in an attempt to save her. I think the suit is completely independent from the little girl who appears to be in it. The girl is trapped because she shouted, ‘HELP ME!’ when she was inside the suit.
I don’t think the little girl is Amy’s daughter, and I don’t think Amy is pregnant at all. The previews have told us that the silence have been here for centuries, but no one noticed because we could never remember. It is also told us that they have been manipulating people’s actions since they came here e.g. that Silent trying to get Amy to tell the doctor about his death. She can’t remember why she said, ‘I have to tell the doctor’ but that idea was put in to her mind by that Silent. So I think Amy isn’t pregnant and it might’ve been another idea implanted in to her head by the Silence. Or there’s something far deeper to it than just a pregnancy. Steven Moffat is clever, and I’m sure this episode has lots of things to throw us off course.
There is the matter that Amy screams as she shoots the astronaut. That might just be that she shoots as soon as she turns around so she’s already shot before realising that the little girl is inside the suit. That might be all there is to that. I will be very disappointed with Moffat if Amy really is pregnant, or if there’s nothing deeper than a normal pregnancy there.

      Essay done. Enjoy? 🙂

I think that the astogirl was a young River Song, who is also Amys daughter. As for reasons for killing the doctor (which he seemed to know about in adavance) wasn’t there something back in the original series about one of the regenerations being evil? Perhaps the reason being to stop that Dr existing?

I never thought the Doctor would die!!! I actually thought it was going to be river! Any idea who the monsters were and if the little girl was actually the astronaut and she shot the doctor. The TARDIS that River and Rory discovered is definitely the one that that guy had made on The Lodger. It did say in doctor who magazine that Craig Owens and the Doctor would meets again!!!

This was a great excellent start to Series 6 , with even more layers of mystery then ever before and as always Matt Smith was on top form but what concerns me is that The Doctor seemly dies in the first 15 minutes of the episode and then we see him when he is younger.

Does this mean that The Doctor really die? My theory is that somehow it is fixed and he doesn’t die but as Steven Moffat has said , the person that dies , will properly die.

Love the really scary monsters which are the silence who are really great and what is even more scarier is the fact that anyone can easily forget them in a second.

The episode all the way through makes you want you to see the next episode , though the ending was a little weak , I think most of the answers will be solved in the next episode.

Like you say Alex, Moffatt did indeed say that. Show’s Moffat’s arogance and proves he should NOT be running the show.

Think about it. He has in effect killed off the Doctor and no regeneration beyond the 11th!!!!!

Hope its put right. But knowing SM as I do. I doubt it.

Moffat is a genius, and is sure to have many tricks up his sleeves yet. Obviously he isn’t going to just leave it with the Doctor dying in his 11th form, but his twists, and understanding that with time travellers things do not always have to work in a straight line, are what I love about a good episode of Doctor Who.

The Moffat and Smith combo makes me truly happy

    Love the timy wimy.
I think it River’s in the astronaut suit because her gun shots a green blast like the astronauts, its some big wibbly wobbly doctor and river plot to get ride of the Silence. As for the kid it has to be a projection like we saw in the lodger episode and maybe it the same ship in both episodes.

if you think about it in the big bang the doctor died and layed at the bottom of the stairs. but when the doctor died the second time he was not at the bottom of the stairs he was in the pandorica. and river song said “the doctor lis”. and that time can be rewritten.

yer but time can be rewritten, beacuse of what river, amy and rory saw one of them might change history to save the doctor.but when they have that pinic again the doctor might not go up to the apollo astronaut. or the apollo astronaut dies or changes and does not kill the doctor. so theres my theroy

Really liked the episode! Lots of twists, and every part of production was well done. Love the idea of forgetting the silence the moment you turn away. I think they may dedicate the next ep to Nicholas Courtney.

Also, for those of you who are confused, don’t judge the episode because you don’t understand it. It is a two-parter, so naturally you’re not gonna know the whole plot already. Just wait to complete the story, and then you can decide if you understand it or not 😉

    Wow.

Production values are the best yet (co production with BBC America I notice). Some of the imagery was a nod to 2001… The Astronaut standing in the lake and then the four mourners standing in line were just terrific stuff: Doctor Who just got serious with it’s SciFi. All this was balanced with the usual humour. I loved the opening sequence! To those who say the storyline is confusing… I say stick with it. This chap Moffat knows what he’s doing here. He’s challenging us by not spoon feeding us 45 minutes of soap opera nonsense. Somethings building and i don’t expect to be disappointed!

Frankly, I think, for the hype they tried to generate, and just for the SEASON PREMIERE, it was a little slow. It did make me think, BUT matt didn’t feel like the doctor for most of the episode. He was a little to sane! and it was a little too teeth-pullingy with the whole them not telling him about his future. It was a really great episode, don’t get me wrong; it just didn’t have the BANG that a season premiere should. Just my two cents.

So, if The Doctor is really dead then is the show over? Did the BBC cancel it and just not tell us? Or is he gonna find a way around his own death and keep on going till his next proper regeneration? And what about River Song? Who is she? Is she Amy’s daughter? Or is she just another human The Doctor happens across? Am I over thinking all of this too much?

I know people keep saying they don’t like it because it’s too confusing, but surely that’s the point. The story didn’t fail to make sense. The plot worked. It simply left lots of unanswered questions which I’m fairly sure is the point of a cliff hanger. Moffat has done amazing writing in past series’ and seems to be continuing the trend. I think he’s encouraging kids to think harder, which makes it more enjoyable for adults too.

This is classic Doctor Who. I absolutely loved it!
