  • Tennant Is the best doctor

    September 26th, 2012 - 3:01pm

It was lacking in some aspects but was over all alright. This episode (in my opinion) was just to show the ponds are adapting with doctor and because his visits are becoming less often they know they don’t need him anymore. But the episode was too rushed and probably should have been a 2 parter. The doctor walked onto a spaceship got a monologue soniced a machine and the ship blew up. I’m just hoping that the man that gave him the monologue (his name slips my mind) about the time lords being judged and such will come back and redeem himself with a well written 2 part episode. Everyone preformance was fabulous and I loved seeing the doctor bored and playing the wii ๐Ÿ˜€ if I was in Amy’s position I would stay with sexy Matt smith forever <3 even though I'd prefer tennant Matt is still fabulous tennant just took my heart with his deep performances. Along with all the hardcore 10 fans I cried when he regenerated :'(

Power of Three was the best episode for the season so far, with a lot to go for the episode got it’s morals out quickly and nicely and placed the audience in a state of awe through-out the episode’s 45 minute action packed lot, with the cubes being a rela mystery i was suspended in my seat for the entire episode, although the brushing off of the Shakri was not overly good it was made up for by the amazing music and comedy writing from Chris Chibnall who also wrote episode 2: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, like DOAS the episode was action-packed and i yet again stated – Good on you, Chibnall – i was impressed by how Chibnall handled Unified Intelligence Taskforce’s return and he was amazing at bringing in Kate Stewart (daughter of the 60s, 70s and 80s classic hero Brigaider Alisater Gordon Leth-Bridge Stewart)the alien nurses were amazing in the episode and gave it a kind of Prymaids on Mars feel all you need now is good effects, good zoom-ins and an excellent story plot – wait a minute- Power of Three already has alot of those – it gives the episode a more chilling feeling and i loved how the Cubes were handles, the comedy in the episode was amazing as was the music by Murray Gold, for this episode we had the best form of the DOCTOR WHO we have had this season need to say EVER featuring an excellent plot-line, amazing characters, great lines such as ‘Yes, You, You not me, I hate being Patient, Patience is for Wimps,’ and ‘Well my firing laser bolts and now it’s surfing the web’, great acting from Matt, Karen, Arthur and Kate this episode is bound to be considered a classic. I rate it – 10/10

I thought the mystery of the cubes was well thought out, it had a good feel to it, the cubes were a good touch and had a spooky feeling to it.
The Shakri were brushed off pretty quickly and were a good enemy for about 2 minutes until he vanished.
It was excellent to see Brian again.
The Doctor had some good humour in this episode and again during it i stated – good on you Chibnall.
i rate this episode 9 3/4 out of 10 while i rate the other episodes:
    Asylum of the Daleks: 9.5/10
    Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: 8/10
    A Town Called Mercy: 6/10
The Power of Three: 9 3/4 out of 10
Best episode of the season so far.
hopwfully the Angels Take Manhattan is good.

Will you put this on the site, booboo:

Saturday will be a historic day for Doctor Who and an emotional one for its viewers as we bid a heart-breaking farewell to Amy and Rory, played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. To celebrate their time on the show and to mark the end of an era, weโ€™ll have special programme, The Last Days of the Ponds, available straight after The Angels Take Manhattan finishes.

The Last Days of the Ponds is a touching, 12 minute video that features Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, head writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat and Executive Producer Caro Skinner. Poignant and insightful it tells their story, from the very start to the teary goodbyes.

With exclusive backstage material from their early days together right up to behind-the-scenes footage of their final shots, The Last Days of the Ponds gives you unprecedented access to an era of Doctor Who, but more than this, it reveals how the people involved feel about their characters and their friends, their time on the show, what theyโ€™ll miss and remember and how Amy and Roryโ€™s swansong moved them all.

Karen, Arthur and Matt recall meeting each other for the first time and share anecdotes about their friendship. What did they think of each other at first and what did Arthur consider to be a nightmare? Which days does Karen call the craziest of all, and how was Matt feeling when it came to shooting the Pondsโ€™ departure?

The laughter, tears, heart-break and joy are all captured forever in The Last Days of the Ponds.

The Last Days of the Ponds will be available here, immediately after Saturdayโ€™s episode.

  • The TARDIS

    September 23rd, 2012 - 9:16pm

This episode began brilliantly – some fantastic scenes of the Doctor trying to live the slow life, and Brian Williams is probably my favourite companion’s family member from the revived series.
There are some genuinely funny scenes featuring Brian and some creepy ones with the cubes. The idea of cubes appearing and everyone taking them into their lives is similar to the Ghosts in Army of Ghosts / Doomsday, but if you have a good idea, why not re-use it!
However, as the story progresses, the plot slowly begins to fade away. Far too much time is spent on the cubes, and a very interesting story of the Shakri is brushed over and neatly forgotten about. The resolution is very rushed and this leads to the episode feeling as though there is really no threat, the cubes are just strange and some very scary nurses and aliens are put back in favour of mystery.
This does, of course, mean that the focus of this episode is not really the slow alien invasion – it’s the characters. This is the story of the Ponds, all put in perspective.
The Power of Three has some brilliant guest cast, Mark Williams’ Brian is fantastic, and the character of Kate Stewart is wonderful – I sense a recurring character in the offing…
Murray Gold’s score is fantasticly eerie and abstract, keeping the flame burning that bit brighter throughout a hectic 45 minutes of brilliant Doctor Who.
It’s such a shame that the alien threat is brushed over and countered so easily, making what could have been one of the best episodes of Doctor Who just… brilliant.
9/10. Maybe 9.5… The best episode of the series so far in my opinion.

I agree, I laughed so much when Brian was doing his log on the cubes, and when he was in the tarids for three days keeping and eye on the cubes! But i think the idea of the episode was so we could see more of the ponds, and be a lot about them, as they will leave and we wont see them again after saturday!

I thought it was great! It as fun and light hearted as there is a emotional scary episode next week! And it was mainly about the ponds, which was nice so we get to see a lot of them before they leave it was a nice second to last episode!

I really liked the way they put the month names up, like the barbecue one, it was nice and clever and didn’t stand out too much! I also liked the way Brian noticed Amy and Rory had been away from them having different clothes, as it shows that nobody notices they have gone normally and the was Brian had the log was so funny!

Asylum Of The Daleks: I only didn’t like that there was so many bronze Daleks. It was nice seeing Skaro again, Oswin was fantastic, and there were some classic Daleks, so that’s something. The plot was good, and Matt Smith is fantastic, as usual. This is my new favorite episode. 10/10

Dinosaurs On A Spaceship: Was kind of silly, but it was nice to have another dinosaur episode. It had great emotional scenes, and Brian was great in the episode. Solomon was a good villian. 8/10

A Town Called Mercy: This was a beautiful episode, no faults I could see. Kahler-Jex was amazing, and the Gunslinger/Kahler Tek was also a good character. No faults, 10/10

The Power Of Three: Not bad, but a little sloppy after Asylum, Dinosaurs, and Mercy. There was alot of good emotional scenes, and the Brigadier’s daughter was a nice addition. Brian continues to be amazing. However, it was too rushed at the end. 7/10

I only like him cause I grew up with him, I watched him when I was smaller. Sad days, when he left… But Hooray for Smith as he’s in my second place! HOORAY! And an even bigger HOORAY for Tennant! Here’s my Series 7 review so far:

    ASYLUM OF THE DALEKS:
Great start to the series, but not the best opener or best episode of the series yet. It was a surprise to introduce the new companion Oswin. She will be great! This episode was dissapointing though. I barely saw ANY Classic Daleks and they promised we would! Plus I didn’t like how Oswin turned out to be a Dalek. 8/10

    DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP:
This episode was….different, but good! For the first time, we get introduced to Rory’s dad, Brian Williams. Plus the Doctor had a gang! The Ponds, Brian, Ridell and Egyptian Queen Nefertiti ๐Ÿ˜€ Solomon was a great villain, he should come back. And the main part of the story… Dinosaurs… On a Spaceship!!! 8/10

    A TOWN CALLED MERCY:
I’m going to be honest with this and say….before Series 7 aired, this episode was the episode I looked the least forward too. But now, it’s the best episode yet! No dissapointments! ๐Ÿ™‚ 10/10

    THE POWER OF THREE:
It. Was. Awesome! I just couldn’t help but love it! Although some questions weren’t answered:
โ€ข Why were those alien nurses like that? I’m guessing they were previously human?
โ€ขWhat happened to them and the girl?
โ€ข How did that happen to them? Was it the cubes? 9/10

    • That Cube over there

      September 23rd, 2012 - 12:31pm

      ASYLUM OF THE DALEKS:
“Why do they hate you? They hate you so much! Why?”
Good start to the series. Very shocked to see Jenna-Louise Coleman so early. Despite the fact that the Daleks had finally become creepy again, the lack of Classic Dalek action left me with an empty TDTWATW feeling. And Amy and Rory’s divorce subplot didn’t really do anything. These little niggles aside, it was a great episode with some amazing acting, impressive sets, brilliant direction, great music from Murray Gold and very impressive CGI. 9/10

      DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP:
      “Piracy and then genocide…”
      “Very emotive words, Doctor.”
“Oh, I’m a very emotive man.”
Better than expected. It was childish (“Only my balls.”), it was silly (“We do not have tantrums!”), it was disturbing (“I would break you in with immense pleasure.”), but so what? Apart from that disturbing moment, it was a great episode, but not one of my favourites. 7/10

      A TOWN CALLED MERCY:
“Looking at you, Doctor, is like looking into a mirror. Almost. There’s rage there, like me. Guilt, like me. Solitude. Everything but the nerve to do what needs to be done.”
Well… What can I say? A truly phenomenal episode with excellent performances from Matt Smith and Adrian Scarborough. 10/10

      THE POWER OF THREE:
“There are soldiers all over my house, and I’m in my pants.”
Decent episode, but the ending was a let down. Mark Williams was brilliant once again, though. The “Brian’s log” scenes were hilarious. 9/10.

Thank goodness Amy/Rory & The Doctor together is coming to an end. Their whole story (including River Song) has not been at the centre of my universe (!) This was almost as embarrassing as ‘Dinosaur’s on a Spaceship’ to watch. The plot and set-up for next week were swamped by terrible ‘comedy’ sequences and I’m sorry, but, the childish tantrums and interpretations of The Doctor character really gets on my nerves. One good thing; The Brigadier’s daughter being in it, was a nice tip of the hat to Nicholas Courtney.

I like Brian. He’s a good idea, someone that can be serious is needed in The Tardis. He always knows what to do next and is always busy. However, I think he is becoming the new Wilf and im not sure if its a good or bad thing. Do you like Brian?

I do. I know Mark Williams best for playing Olaf Peterson [a.k.a. The Danish Moron] in Red Dwarf ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s a shame they didn’t introduce him last year.

During times like this, I wonder where Torchwood and Sara Jane are….

Likewise, where was the Doctor during Miracle Day?

Torchwood are in Cardiff, not Leadworth, and they can’t help because they dont have a portal to the ship. Same with Sarah Jane.

The Torchwood Hub was in Cardiff, but was destroyed in series 3 called ‘Children of Earth’.

Miracle Day had Jack and Gwen, the last 2 living characters of the series, end up in America, and idea was to give them a new Torchwood base in the USA along with a couple of Americans working with them as new Torchwood members, but since they show has not returned after that long and boring storyline from last year ended, it seems unlikely Torchwood will continue.

Sarah Jane lives at 13 Bannerman Road in London, while Amy and Rory I think have moved out of Leadworth.

The Doctor did drop Amy and Rory at Leadworth in the God Clompex.

Up setting it maybe, but giving Liz had her last ep was brill. keep mentioning her would be poor. Liz played SJ and we will all tresure, honnour her in our hearts. to bring her up all the time would be wrong. We have the brig’s child. She was great. But if you look at the press ES got more coverage than Nicholas Courtney. He was a mere foot note. I will miss them both as they helped shape my childhood.

Dr Who S7 has been going well so far. The episodes have all had niggles but each have been enjoyable to watch. The Power of Three was fantastic and I cant wait for The Angels Take Manhattan I hope it will be to A Good Man Goes To War standard.

This episode wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. i quite liked the character of the Brigadier’s daughter and there were some quite funny scenes in the episode as well but Steven (grand moff) Moffat could’ve done a lot better. I’m not going to go on about how annoying Moffat’s era of Doctor Who can be sometimes but there has been a massive out cry from fans to bring RTD back. To be honest now I think that would be the wrong decision. RTD had his run. Let’s just hope that the next part of series 7 is going to be better.

Not the best Episode, seemed like it could or should have been an Episode of Torchwood..
My son has loved Doctor Who for the past 4 years, but has lost interest in this season very quickly. Something is just not right…! Come back RTD, all is forgiven.
