What did You Think of The Return of Doctor Mysterio?

I got the reason how Nardole had got it his head back (probably giant centipedes again from “Class”. How he is capable to pilot the TARDIS is a mystery but I’ll go along with it, perhaps we’re all expecting bit a too much from things at Christmas now. The best thing from it was the trailer from the new series in the spring, bring it on and let’s see where we go to next 🙂

Stop keep on moaning about nardole because I think he is a good companion this just winds me up that we have only seen him be a companion once and already judging him. Just wait until the end of series 10 to Comment on him

How much would everyone give it out of 10? I would give it an 8

Ok episode that could have been better but was fine. Some good ideas. But I hate that they keep dredging River up. Let her rest and get on with Twelve restoring his memories of Clara. Not convinced that Nardole has improved from last year. Twelve had better chemistry with Mr Huffle. And Bill came off as sense in the trailer rather than intelligent. I’m hoping she turns out better in the final episodes.

I wasn’t too impressed by it tbh. I asked my 9 year old what she thought & she gave it 5/5. So all in all not a great reception in our house. Still looking forward to seeing the new series though. Pleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegood!!

Wayne I suggest you prepare for a poor season 10, things won’t change until Moffat has gone. Looking at the new series trailer it looks awful.

Really Really awful and boring especially being an episode after a year of no doctor who and they left us with the worst episode in doctor who history hell bent and why Nardole why no reason for him to be there
Series 10 looks ok but it should be great since they had a year off to work on it.

I agree. After waiting a year for something new from the DW world it was disappointing. I tried to get into Class too but I thought that was terrible. Ah well onwards & upwards.

Nothing is as bad as Hell bent, but I do agree with the special being underwhelming. I think the best part for most people was the Trailer for series 10 at the end.

To all those who are complaining about series 10, obvioulsy hard work has been put into it, so dont criticise something that hasnt even aired yet. I personally think having a new companion who asks what no one else asks is great. It already feels like a new show.

I also think they should sign Matt Lucas on for a few more series as Nardole, as he is great comic relief. The story line in TRODM was interesting, plus there was a mention of Osgood, and the fact that a UNIT soldier has been taken over by the alien brain thingies.

And i was in stitches with the stress toy that Lucy had, brilliant comic timing. Justin Chatwin made a dull sounding character shine and was relatable. For the first time in long time, it didnt feel like a dreadful Steven Moffat script, it had fun, humour and serious parts.

I was dreading it being like the awful The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe, but was pleasantly surprised.

I thought the story was better than I originally thought it would be but it didn’t feel much like a Christmas episode and the whole relationship with the ghost and the journalist was boring and stretched. I liked the comedy humour between the Doctor and Nardole and it was interesting learning more about the brain aliens from the previous Christmas special

Mixed reviews by the look of things. I haven’t yet seen it so am yet to form my own opinion. However it sounds like Moffat being his now usual, not interested self…

Have however seen Series 10 trailer. It looks… Ok. asBill looks and sounds irritating with a sense that her gasps and actually acting in general is forced…

Well now I’ve seen it I personally think it wasn’t too bad.

Visually, the shoal of the winter harmony are an awesome race of aliens and the thought that they have scope to return is fantastic.

Grant/Ghost is a marketing scheme. I saw it a mile off. I said they would do comics of it and they are. I wouldn’t mind an action figure as well actually. The character was alright and it was written relatively well. Yes it’s a little basic for a hero and very similar to another (basically Superman) however I enjoyed the Who-esque spin on it.

Nardole was in my opinion SO much better than in The Husbands of River Song, playing a more companiony character with actually relevant lines including that lovely end speech to Lucy and Grant about River.

So, on to series 10. AsBill still looks and sounds dreadful after 4 viewings of the trailer. Matt Lucas may actually improve the series as a recurring character… we will find out in April.

yep, same story as most moffett xmas specials just recycled, the snowmen is still my favourite which moffett wrote,no spaceship crashing towards earth that time just a really different brilliant story with fantastic music score.

I’m glad that Moffet is leaving as head writer this special was a week one I just hope when the new one starts in 2018 it will put the show on a new lease of life. Moffet has lost all interest in doing brilliant scripts Like the Blink episode that was in my opinion his best work.

Well, when it was Dr. Who, I thought it was actually quite good.

Unfortunately it was more interested in being a generic and poorly-written RomCom that Dr. Who. Another Christmas special being butchered through sheer plagiarism.

Not too bad, Mind I normally enjoy Peter capaldi’s stories more on a second watch, so will reserve final judgement until after I’ve watched the dvd. In general, acting was good and it was well made, nice to see as well that nardol will be in the new series and that the new series looks good as usual. I’ve really enjoyed moffat’s run since 2010 so looking forward to new series.
(All the people who complain so nastily about moffat will no doubt be as voraciously vocal about chibnall just enjoy it while we still have TV Who!)

it was better than i expected and i’d say it was the best Capaldi christmas episode… but thats not saying much. It was bland, predictable and the best thing it in (and i can’t believe i’m saying this) is Nardole! And that trailer for the new series was a punch in the stomach of cringe and contained no monster other than the bloomin’ daleks!
