December 26th, 2012 - 4:13pmThis episode was quite entertaining, it had a very good and whole storyline. It felt like alot of time had been taken in the production of this episode, i think this episode has redeemed my views on the way the show was going. The title sequence was ok….but it felt unfinished, but i like the doctors face, a very classic twist and homage to the original series. The music was slightly a little bland, but very nice. All in all my cinfience has been restored, and i am eager to see what the new series has in store. I tip my hat to you Moffat, a very well structured episode.

December 26th, 2012 - 2:22pmNew title sequence – seriously what was that? Some still images of blobs spinning around at the beginning looking like some basic flash animation and then the vortex thing (the vortex thing was OK though). Also a bit of a throwback to the classic series – the Doctors actual picture integrated into the sequence – not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Maybe a bit corny with the TARDIS doors opening at the end of the sequence – ew corny. Maybe the costume for the Doctor will include a jumper with a ? on it soon? The actual episode itself was OK but by no means brilliant. Why is it that the Christmas Special is presented to us like some sort of children’s fairytale (same as the last 2 Christmas Specials). I remember when Doctor Who was really awesome with the Christmas Special being exactly that ‘special’. The new re-design of the TARDIS, definitely better than the last one. The last one was far too cluttered. Rather worryingly its so small – kinda smacks of the 1980’s when Who had almost no money injected into it. With the decrease in number of episodes per year (never mind series x part one and series x part 2) what happened to actual 13 episodes and then the Christmas Special? Unfortunately I think Doctor Who history is repeating itself. Superficial things like the title sequence are changed but the actual stories are suffering and definitely have been for quite some time. Whatever happened to dramatic tension? Seriously there wasn’t any. Ew i so cringed at the very wobbly spiral staircase – soon we will return to spaceships made out of squeezable bottles. What a shame poor Doctor Who – the things that killed it in the 80’s seem to be returning. I only hope the 50th Anniversary is treated with some understanding – just the way the original relaunch was. Please not another non-sense children’s fairytale!!

December 26th, 2012 - 3:44pmI quite liked it. It was far better than last years for sure.

December 26th, 2012 - 11:16pmI didn’t mind the title sequence but I LOVED the new music, it really took in lots of the 8th doctors music and combined it with the 2010-2012 music.

December 26th, 2012 - 12:44pmABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE new title sequence, very dissapointed in it…It looked messy, very mashed up.
On the up side though, the story was very entertaining, a bit slow in the middle , but VERY interesting at the end. You keep teasing us with these underlying secret plotlines…so Who or WHAT is Clara/Oswin??????
Will be watching it a few more times on I-Player.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
December 26th, 2012 - 12:03pmsome clever moments, it may be the best SM’s done, becuase it had a threat to earth in it. the plot i thought was quite erratic and complicated to follow i think that whole clara thing could’ve been explained a bit better at the end the whole ‘snowmen taking over the world’ wasnt actually true to slightly dissapointing but ok. i do like clara and i think she could be a female time lord.

December 26th, 2012 - 10:42amJust had a thought about Clara, could she be the Key to Time ? In the classic series the key was broken into six parts and scattered throughout time and space, the final part was a humanoid so we know they can assume human form. At the end of the story the Doctor scattered the pieces again. There have been various audio and written stories that continue the story further but never to my knowledge anything in the TV series.

December 26th, 2012 - 10:27amI think we should play the one word game:
Try to describe the emotion, excitement and mystery of the episode as well as your opinion in just one word.

December 26th, 2012 - 8:29amWell I feel I should apologize to anyone here on the site for me telling that that the 2 women played by Jenna are not the same woman when it turns out they are, but be fair, how was I too know ?, I just assumed they where female relations of some sort, like a great great great grandmother and great great great granddaughter.
So then Clara Oswin Oswald – WHO ARE YOU ?.
Boy she is gonna be a mystery for us to solve during the 50th Anniversary, and I look forward to it !! 😀

It’s obvious…..she will be the new doctor…..look for the clues?

December 26th, 2012 - 7:19amThe best Christmas special ever. A clever twist at the end that wasn’t confusing. 10/10.
Favourite quote:
Clara: “Does it have a kitchen? I like making souffles.”

December 26th, 2012 - 6:00amNew theme: Awesome!! New outfit: Not as good as the tweed, but still pretty good! New TARDIS interior: Fantastic! New Cybermen: Excellent, but I’m getting a little ahead in time. Great special, best of the Moffat Era so far! Also, it does a good job of making new viewers want to go back and look at the season so far, and stay tuned for the second half! Bravo, sir!

December 26th, 2012 - 3:20amLittle things: Not being mean or anything – BEST SPECIAL EVER! But when Clara asked:
‘Can you control the Cloud?’
The Doctor Replied
‘No-one can Control clouds, that’d be silly’
but yet in A Christmas Carol Kazran Sardick controlled the clouds and the Doctor knew about it
also, why did the Doctor give Clara the umbrella,it was never eally explained, any-way 11/10

December 26th, 2012 - 3:41amIt was a test, to see if she figured out what his plan was. she couldn’t reach the bottom of the ladder, he could.

December 26th, 2012 - 10:22amIt was also because he wanted her to join him, so it shows to her that he want her by getting the umbrella so she could reach!
That was my favourite scene, where Clara worked it all out then was lifted up by the ladder!!!
What was your favourite scene booboo?

December 26th, 2012 - 11:18pmI think the doctor meant no-one could control the clouds meaning he couldn’t.

December 26th, 2012 - 12:14amDid anyone notice Clara’s date of birth on her gravestone was November 23rd ? Now what was the date on which the very first episode of Doctor Who aired ? Correct – that’s no coincidence !

Liliana Of Gallifrey
December 25th, 2012 - 11:17pmI’m sorry to say I haven’t been too impressed with Doctor Who since Matt Smith arrived. I just think the episodes have lost quality in terms of storylines, characters and even graphics; but I’m sure some people will appreciate them. The best Christmas special, in my opinion, was Voyage Of The Damned. 🙂
Andrew Hall
December 26th, 2012 - 9:18amI agree, im in the minority, but it didnt do anything for me. I loved all the RTD Xmas specials, with Voyage of the Damned and The Next Doctor my favourites. This one started well but its becoming too fairy tale….staircase up to a cloud??? Whats the matter with parking the TARDIS in a dark corner of a London street? The snowmen were wasted, didnt see them do much at all. Easily defeated too. And can we not have a normal companion? No complex back story….just pick up a new friend and off they go…instead we will have to endure more timey wimey claptrap nonsense nxt season before we find out who she is!!!

December 25th, 2012 - 10:52pmYes, that was very good. The last two Christmas episodes were a complete embarressment to watch, especially ‘Christmas Carol’- awful. This was the best use in the Moffat era of multiple companions. After a hit and miss opening to the 7th series and frankly an abysml 6th, I hope this is a sign of things to come. Thoroughly enjoyed it, from the cast, use of characters, design and story, I will be buying the DVD !! Excellent stuff.

December 25th, 2012 - 10:56pmI think ‘A Christmas Carol’ is the best Christmas special.
