What Did You Think of The Time of the Doctor?

What Did You Think of The Time of the Doctor?

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor.

For me, the great thing was not just the finale butnthe fact that there is so much more now to be imagined up by fans now about what happened in the battle of Trenzalore. Peter is going to be great and Matt Smith was fantastic until the end of his reign.
    One question…
Do you know how to fly this thing.

It was a good story. But i was disapointed about the regeneration scene very low key not like the others explosive. we will just have to wait tilll his 1st story to find out how he is going to play it.

ELEVEN CALLED IT A “RESET,” AND IT WAS THE MOST VIOLENT REGENERATION IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF “DOCTOR WHO.”

Guys, watch some classic who, the “golden stuff” only happens during the new regeneration’s. The only “explosive” regeneration’s there has been are DT’s and MS’s.

a reply to matt9982: I know what usually happens when the Doctor regenerates, there’s the golden light. When 11 regenerated, there was only a small amount of the gold light, not really noticeable.

Give peter a chance. Were all still upset because we knew it was matts final story and I think he did his regeneration farewell speech with aplomb. hes going to take some beating I know, but in time we may come to feel the same way about peter as we did with matt. remember a lot were unsure about him after tenant and he surpassed himself. I also predicted amy turning up. It seemed appropriate for his swansong.

Oh dear. Moffat’s xmas specials have been consistently poor and this was no exception. It was like they were trying to squeeze in every alien going just to look impressive. A pity they didn’t squeeze in a decent story.

Yes dont have a story with all the Doctor`s key enemies in place unless your going to convicingly and intelligently have them either slug it out with each other for some big prize or as in the “Pandorica Opens” act in unison out of a shared common interest. This seems a bit more like “Plan 9 From Outer Space” on first viewing. The 50th special was far better.

    • JJ

      December 26th, 2013 - 1:12am

I agree. Too many of the aliens, absolutely no need for them or it. Steven Moffat’s even christmas special’s have been good: A Christmas Carol, The Snowmen. But his odds have been very disappointing with the worst: The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe, and the second worst ever: The Time Of The Doctor. Moffat, I think it’s you who needs a new burst of life and to regenerate in a flash. Another failed episode from 2013, just like the 50th. Only good 2013 episode was The Name Of The Doctor and The Bells Of Saint John was ok-ish.

One more thing – the Sontarans have been turned into a cheap joke appearing only for a bit of (attempted) humour. Not good.

    December 25th, 2013 - 8:45pm

I would give the episode a 4/5 because I still think that there should’ve been a few more things wrapped up. But I had a tear running down my face when I saw Amy. However, it was runied by a quick regeneration and not enough shown by Peter Capaldi, but we’ll have to wait until late August/ early September. :,(

    • Doctor of Lord

      December 25th, 2013 - 8:58pm

We’ll probably see the Time Lords in the series 8 finale no doubt. I think – and everyone else obviously – was that the teary speech Matt Smith gave just before his regeneration was not only the 11th (or 13th?) saying farewell but it was actually Matt Smith saying farewell too.

When he was cast: He’s gonna be rubbish
Now: Hopefully, just hopefully, he might be good. I’ll give him a chance.

Either way he will be a failed Doctor, not because of him, but because the writers from series 7 part 2 are all coming back to Steven Moffat’s friends club, where he just invited his friends, no matter how rubbish the episode. Hello Peter Capaldi! Good Luck!

very very very bizarre, it was just a mess.
    nothing made sense!
The regeneration scene was too long and didnt feel emoitional at all because of this.
Then the change-what was that? far too quick…
And Capaldi, oh no HE WAS RUBBISH
I knew I wouldnt like him that much but for goodness sake!

Not impressed Moffat! Give up with these complicated stories-I’ve just about had enough of them
