I fairly enjoy it. I like how The Doctor lived to death instead of the big dramatic sacrafice of the 9th & 10th Doctors. The regenaration was really well done and Amy’s return was a pleasant surprise. 7.5/10

I’ve been watching Doctor Who literally from day one, as a seven year old in 1963. In all that time, Matt Smith has been my favourite Doctor of all. I will miss him greatly, but I look forward to Where Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat’s brilliant writing will take us.

Am I the only one who isn’t to keen on Clara? I love Jenna and I think she’s a great actrice, but I feel that her character at the start was really cocky unlike most of the other companions? I know we need change with the companions but being cocky isn’t great. I think that all the companions in past years have had a transformation from when they first started to when they have left, but with Clara she saved the day in only the second episode into series 7 which seems to me very un-realistic and rushed.I really hoped that they could make something more of her character and I really hope she has a good ending (guessing that she’ll be leaving in series 8 or 9).. Although 10 used 2 regenerations, the meta crisis doctor is not a incarnation…it was a freak accident. So although Capaldi is the 13th Incarnation, the 12th to call himself the Doctor, it is only his 13th body. It’s more accurate to say that 10 used 2 regenerations on the same body.

I’ve been hearing rumours about the Master returning to the series but how will Moffat work around it? In The End of Time we last saw him blasting his powers at Rassilon and then he dissappered back into the last days of the time war. So how do you think he going to return?

    • Anonymous

      January 7th, 2014 - 3:52pm

So. If he was blasted back to Gallifrey in the time war and the doctor froze Gallifrey in a moment of time, he will find the Master, a Rassilon and the others when he finds Gallifrey.

I’d love to have Timothy Dalton back as Rassilon and John Simm back as the Master, but if they couldn’t get the actors to return, they could always have them post-regeneration as the main villains of Series 8.

      January 10th, 2014 - 2:50pm

      Well. Hmmm.

I call myself the Moffat Paradox here because after no wrapping up of the plotlines in series 5 -7 until at last with “The Time Of The Doctor” I started to wonder if he either really knew or cared what he was doing.

He did. Even though his saying things would make more overall sense before the showing of “The Time Of The Doctor” was as far as I was concerned just codswallop. So no insult to logical thought has been committed in the end.

He has had good ideas like the Weeping Angels even if I have found his style of storytelling irksome at times and thought it suited more for his Sherlock than to Doctor Who.

If their already considering replacements for him then surely Mark Gattis if he isn’t too busy with acting in things like Sherlock as well as his writing for other things besides Doctor Who.

As for answering the questions in the Time of the Doctor. Like how was it that landed in Amy’s garden ( Dakels, Autons, Cybermen, The Silence, Sontarans, Zygons??) who was it.
where did the other flight of stairs go ? on the outside of Amy’s house u can see that there was 2 floors a ground floor and a 1st floor and then the attic so where did the stairs goto on the 1st floor, this is just 2 of the unanswered questions i can think of at this moment I know there is more but i just can think of them at this moment.

Simon, it was the Autons. That’s how they replicated Rory and the Romans from her book. The fact that there are three floors on Amy’s house means nothing, it could be a flight of stairs leading to an attic, and doesn’t really matter anyway. The only thing that needs tied up is the “blonde woman in the shop”, unless I’ve missed anything.

season 4 the doctor goes back to donnas wedding and gives her a present of a lottery ticket I assume it was a winning ticket.my understanding is that if the TARDIS lands in the past in the same time line it would be stuck in that time line. That’s why he cannot go back and
warn someone of on coming disasters etc.but if he landed to get the ticket then traveled to the wedding then how was he able to leave the wedding? Am I missing something?

    • Dalek the Supreme

      January 6th, 2014 - 1:08pm

I agree with most points, except for no story arcs, and maybe a new showrunner. Steven Moffat has made radical changes to Doctor Who since he took over, but I’ve enjoyed many of them, and especially enjoyed how the Series 5 finale had almost every episode of the season leading up to it, and many of the ideas in his run, like the Silence orginization and a previously unknown incarnation of the Doctor. I’ll admit the explanations for some arcs were rushed, but that was mainly because The Time of the Doctor was trying to squeeze what should have been a two-episode story into a one-episode time frame. As long as Steven Moffat continues to have interesting ideas like this, I wouldn’t mind seeing him stay in power, but after all he’s given us, I’m worried he may be running out of ideas. The fact that the stories of The Wedding of River Song and (to a lesser extent) The Name of the Doctor are copy-catted off of The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang are signs of this. However, if he was to leave, I wouldn’t mind seeing Mark Gatiss or Neil Gaiman taking over in his place.

    • 100000BC

      January 6th, 2014 - 3:57pm

I agree with all of those (Change “No More story arcs” to “Less story-arc-driven-stories”. It’s alright to have small things throughout the series to look out for which are referred to during the series finale, but I do feel sorry for the casual viewer who turns on the telly and doesn’t have a clue what the characters are on about. Sometimes Steven’s little mysteries get forgotten by him.), but I don’t mind Steven Moffat. I do think, however, that he should WRITE LESS STORIES HIMSELF. Steven is a brilliant writer with a very good imagination but he does wear it out to the point where we can get bored of his style.

    • The Gold Guardian

      January 6th, 2014 - 8:09pm

I would agree with most of those, and in terms of story arks I think they should take a leaf out of Doctor Who Magazine’s book on how to work them ( I especially loved the build up to the 50th arc and The Child Of Time arc’s; and believe they are better then the impossible girl arc and the River Song arc respectively (the DWM story that was going at the same time as the T.V arc, if you get what I mean))
And as for a new showrunner; I think Moffat can do better (50th and Xmas, not to mention Sherlock) but most of Series 7 Part 2 was awful, so depending on Capaldi’s first series it’s make or break for Moffat for me

I quite like the finale but they probably should’ve done that last year at some point
and made sure to differentiate it from The 5 Doctors!
If done right hat could’ve been great; maybe with the Guardians as the main villain (Black Guardian) and ally (White Guardian)
Or perhaps Omega or The Valeyard as the main villain instead?

OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!!! Why did Matt leave!!!??? Surely Doctor Who was better than the job he’s got hold of now!!! Well, he had to regenerate sometime. Guys, does it scare NO-ONE that he said a timelord can only regenerate a number of 12 or 13 times… I mean, I’m sure Moffat will think of something to carry it on. BUT WHAT IF HE DOESN’T!!What IF he wants to shut the show DOWN!! #hyperventilating

I mean – well you know – It is A BIT wierd..
    PLEASE SOMEONE HELP OUT HERE!!

      @ImmaTimelord
The Time Lords gave The Doctor more regenerations in this special in order for 11 to regenerate, so CALM DOWN!!

Matt Smith, despite being the Eleventh Doctor, is still the result of the twelfth regeneration. The twelve regenerations/thirteen lives rule has been established since the 70’s, Moffat just found a way around it. I doubt he’ll cancel the show considering he’s been a fan since the 60’s. As for why Matt Smith left, I don’t know. However, even though he was a great Doctor, the show has to move on, and Peter Capaldi is what it’s moving on to.

Peter Capaldi is the 14th Doctor. The time lords used the crack in time to send through a new regeneration cycle.

Unofficaly he’s the 13th Doctor dont forget the John = 9 Christopher = 10th, David = 11/12th, Matt=13, Capaldi = 14th. But in the show Capaldi the 12th. I dont think they will be going around changing all the card games and part works magazines to change the Doctor’s numbers do you.

      January 5th, 2014 - 3:15pm

      NoNoNo It goes like this!

      The First Doctor (1st Body)
      The Second Doctor (2nd Body)
      The Third Doctor (3rd Body)
      The Fourth Doctor (4th Body)
      The Fifth Doctor (5th Body)
      The Sixth Doctor (6th Body)
      The Seventh Doctor (7th Body)

The Tenth Doctor – Version 2 (12th Body)
The Reason why theres two tenth doctors is because he regenerated in The Stolen Earth!

Hmm yes. I think that most of this is right. So Tennant regenerated TWO times which makes Matt 12 autimatically, and then we meet John which makes him the 13th…And somehow he got a set of regenerations from the crack in the wall which were the timelords soooo, there SHOULD be a couple more Doctors after Capaldi… OKAY, WOOH!!!

      Bring it on!!!!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments, the world is clear for me now from an 11 yr olds P.O.V. ha ha . thx

The new regeneration cycle is 13 lives (which means he can regenerate 12 more times), so there can be 26 Doctors including 10.2 and The War Doctor.
