What Did You Think of The Timeless Children?

Now that the Final episode of series 12 has aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.

The Cybermen are on the march. The last remaining humans are hunted down. Lies are exposed, truths are revealed, and for the Doctor nothing will ever be the same.

Obsie Susan is still her granddaughter. The doctor was a child on gallifrey, grew up, had children, had a granddaughter and ran away in the tardis. That all still happened.

Oh dear… I could post initial reaction to what we have just seen but I’m going to watch again and post tomorrow or Tuesday.

Unless the comments are shut down and I could understand why they would as some are very upset.

It was awful. There was potential to create a good finale but it was a terrible mess. Rewriting the mythology is not clever. The time lord cybermen we’re ridiculous. The master in half mast trousers mimicking JW semi naked legs is ridiculous. Costume design very poor. How did Jack have prior knowledge of all this cyberman guff ? Cybermen are not people in suits Chibbers !!! Doctor a Who is ruined.

The cyberwarriors with the timelords head dress’ looked a bit ridiculous i have to say. I almost expected the Maggie thatcher cyberman complete with wig and handbag from the Lenny Henry spoof to make an entrance behind them. That aside it didn,t detract too much. For all those who hated tonights episode They will probably reset this lore under the next Producer and Gallifrey returns yet again and everything we thought we knew about series 12 was another lie.

Honestly the whole Timeless Child thing felt pointless. The first comment on this thread said it all: “Did they need to do that?”. I think the master being the Timeless Child would’ve made more sense!!! It would explain why he was driven mad by the time lords, if he’d subconsciously had bitter memories of them! Oh well. It seems like it’ll be soon forgotten anyway.

Loved everything else! I thought all the companions were fab in this story! I kinda wish they’d ditched the timeless child and focused more on them!!!! I thought the Master’s plan with the Cyber Time Lords wasn’t bad and I liked the tension between him and the Lone Cyberman!

Overall I kinda miss the simpler times of series 11 now haha! But after all the complaints, the show had to go in a different direction, so here we are!

Now it leaves the question of who Susan is/was. From the clip in The Name of the Doctor it seemed to imply they were related as we had always believed. So where does Susan fit into all this time retcon ?

Had potential in parts but ended up a jumbled mess. And of course they went there and put millions of racially diverse doctors before the first because why the hell not. I liked the Master’s performance, the Cyberman design – timelord cybermen looked stupid, flashback of all the other doctors was cringey because they decided to blast the theme tune for some reason – I miss Murray Gold, he wouldn’t have allowed that surely. Why reveal the Daleks are returning in the title? If you’re going to do that at least show them at the end or something. BBC probably doesn’t want to give it the Christmas slot any more and I don’t blame them.

I really enjoyed tonight’s episode, I’ve been waiting all week for the second part. All I can is well done to the writers and cast, on giving the ending such a bang. The story of how the Time Lords came to be is very much like a book from the new adventures book range from the 1990’s. Jodie was once again totally amazing, she has fully become the Doctor for me. The scene where she gave the matrix, a kick in the teeth was totally awesome. Jodie should join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am looking forward to the return of the Daleks. Until then there are a load of Dr. Who books and DVDS coming over the next few months. Jodie Whittaker you are so amazing and my favourite actress.

So does that make Tom Baker the 4,235th Doctor now and not the fourth? Can we expect Judi Dench to be one of the distant past incarnations of the Doctor in the 60th anniversary special? Will we get countless various different figures of the Doctor released in B&M?…

Revolution of the Daleks: We’ll probably find out that the Daleks were the good guys after all this time lol

William Hartnell’s Doctor: “I’m the Doctor, the original, you might say”

Random person shopping in Asda: “Think again mate, I’m the Doctor”

Couple who have just got married: “Nope, we’re the Doctors”

Person walking on a beach: “Pleased to meet you, I’m the Doctor”

William Hartnell’s Doctor: “But I’m the original, I’m the First Doctor”

Chris Chibnall: “Sorry William, not in my mind your not. Right, Christmas/New Year is already written etc. Now, should I take a break to think up some more ludicrous ideas & stories? Yeah, I think I’ve earned it”

Wonder if anyone is going to make some memes out of this strange, strange little finale

Glad Jodie is coming back for the special & series 13, but I really wish either Russell T. Davies would come back or even Moffat.

To be honest the last episode was one of the worst I have ever watched as a Dr Who Fan. Chibnall has tried to rewrite the whole mythology of the Dr Who universe and it left me totally unimpressed. Even Moffat with his production of Dr Who was far better though his story plots became totally too complex and convoluted. I am not impressed with the direction that the show has taken having been a fan of Dr Who for a long time. Thank Goodness Big Finish still produce all the classic Whouniverse. I will be sticking with that in future as the tv show has completely lost its way and that is clearly shown by the decline in viewing figures Enough Said

Well the WHO has been taken out of Doctor Who tonight, But William Hartnell will always be The Original Doctor No.1. But I will still watch the series as hopefully just like the 8th Doctor said he was half human like that this turns out to be all rubbish.

    9/10 from me.

Absolutely packed with fan w*&k! Which might be great for us fans but for the general public I fear that that episode was almost unintelligible!

I do feel that as exciting as the whole Timeless Child arc was, the taking away of more of the mystery of the Doctor will be detrimental in the long run. Part of the fun of the series is never being quit sure just who The Doctor is (or even what s/he is).

I was surprised that the ‘Fam’ all survived at the end as I expected at least Tosin Cole to go aas he is going the the USA to be a regular in a series. Graham was funny as always “I can’t get this helmet off! creased me up!

I can’t believe they destroyed Gallifrey ‘for good’ again! I hope the next showrunner after Chibbers brings it back and sets it in stone that it can’t get destroyed again… it’s getting boring, but I do think there are a lot of stories still to tell on Gallifrey.

This new Master is just the right mixture of cold blooded evil and plain insane.

Oh and loved the reunion of The Doctor & The TARDIS at the end. Sweet. (But has she been hiding all those other lives from The Doctor as well?)

Great to end on a cliff hanger! Especially a “what?… What?… WHAT?” one! LOL!

I imagine the overnights will be lower again, but that the final figures might be a bit higher than last week. For me and my wife this series has been the best complete series since Russel left!

Hmmm, I wonder if she was in The Stormcage Facility at the end? Spoilers Sweetie…

That was a belter of a finale even though I,m still not sure where Ruth fits into the past regenerations and i,d like to know which realm The Timeless child actually came from, Where does Brendan fit into all this and where is Captain Jack? With the doctor imprisoned and with daleks to come, Its been a lot to take in with all that spectacle and intricate plotting but i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Moronic. The cybermen aren’t just men in suits, they replace limbs with mechanical ones. You can’t just put on a cyber suit. The timelord cybermen with their collars are awful, they missed the whole point of what it means to become a emotionless, logic driven, dehumanised race. The Master is now a panto villain devoid of all subtlty. But mostly the utter incompetence in storytelling. Telling your reveal in flashback is lazy, it means the writers couldn’t think of a way to show the story. The arrogance to rewrite the shows history when you haven’t managed a single decent episode and finally it doesn’t even make sense that pre,-Hartnell Doctor’s had a police box. Then there’s the lack of understanding of the character, genocide is against her code if she’s pressing the button but it’s fine if someone else does it. Arghh. Just no, no,no.

Very good. The Master was sensational, and Jodie was her best yet. I actually hoped for even more… some more clips of the previous 12 (13) incarnations plus maybe a few more like the Ruth Doctor, and a wider view of Gallifrey. I wasn’t 100% sold on the Time Lord Cybermen but that’s a minor gripe. The weakest part was maybe the history with the woman who explores the universe and finds the Timeless Child. It was ok, but nothing spectacular. The way it opens up possibilities for future multi-Doctor stories though… my goodness! And I hope Big Finish are taking detailed notes, because the possibilities are endless. And if you’re one of the obsessive ratings brandishers here to shriek about retconning and all that, well, tough! It’s done. Deal with it. Or don’t. The show was wonderful and bold when it started with William Hartnell, and it’s wonderful and bold now. And I love it all. ‘Revolution of the Daleks’… YES!!

It’s so sad to see what they’ve done to doctor who, I’ve been a fan all my life, I own one of the largest collections in doctor who memorabilia. And after that I’m done with the show, Thank you Bbc and Chris for completely destroying the show.

Damn, that was good. I was worried about there being more Doctors before Hartnell, but it didn’t actually bother me that much. Overall this series has been great, and a big step up from series 11. Can’t wait for the Revolution of the Daleks!

No, we didn’t really need to do that. The Master told a nice story and then revealed the obvious which lead us no where. So the Doctor is the god of Time Lords.. but the Master killed them all so we got no where to go with that. The Doctor had loads of regenerations (Brain of Morbius clips in the flashback) but they were wiped clean from her memory. I still preferred the other Doctor even though she appeared for 5 minutes. I liked the Master and the Cybermen were menacing. The ‘Fam’ (ugh) hiding in the Cybermen was clever. Just an over long episode where the Doctor’s back story was interesting up until it was revealed it was her !

Brilliant. So clever and for those complaining it contradicts what we know it does explain the brain of morbius! Those really were past lives of the doctor. Personally it makes no difference to me. The doctor has always been different to other time lords now we know why. The first doctor as played by hartnell is still the first doctor as far as he is concerned. Now the doctor knows that’s not true, but her memories still stand. Brilliant episode brilliant series. Cue the complaining!

    Edge of your seat entertainment!

I’m not a fan of the reveal of the Timeless Child being the Doctor and there being life before Hartnell. It just seems wrong. But they have left it vague enough for some mystery to remain.

The Cybermen were great! Ashad had a bit of an anti climatic ending.

Great to have had a cliffhanger ending and it makes me wonder when the special will be?

All in all not terrible, but equally it’s going to take some getting use to the new backstory with the Doctor.
