When the doctor regenerated in The Impossible Astronaut, the doctor regenerated, fair enough. Then in The Wedding Of River Song, the teselecta WAS the doctor. BUT HOW DID THE TESELECTA REGENERATE?

The Teslelecta created a motorbike for the Nazi in let’s kill hitler. Plus having the regeneration energy makes it look more convincing to the companions instead of the doctor just randomly flapping his arms about untill he becomes rupert grint 🙂

Yes it’s been said by defenders of Moffat’s writing style why continue to watch it if we dislike it so much?

IT MAY COME TO THAT but that is because we live in hope that combined with better and more affordable effects/CGI we are going to see jaw dropping stories that will blow us away.

The kind of things the makers of the original series might have done if they were making it with todays technology.

Steven Moffat has done good things in the revamped series from 2005 like coming up with the Weeping Angels but when it comes to plotting for the series as a whole I’m not as yet convinced.

Why is it when people claim to be fans of something and then get creative control they often seem to produce a bit of a damp squib compared to what the original makers did?

This series was the most intelligent since the series returned and the finale was brilliant.Being an adult who has watched the show since 1963 I like stories that require some thought!

Yes but theres a difference between requiring some thought and not filling plot holes.

If it were possible to work out who,it isn’t the Silence,is behind the Events in the Pandorica Opens to make sense of their anamosity towards the Doctor because they think he is the universe’s greatest threat that would be something.

If this is a puzzle then we are still not being given all the pieces to put it together to the extent that I think we should have been entitled to expect in the run up to series 7.

I also personally agree that the last two seasons have been the most enjoyable/intelligent. The plot holes annoy me though… I think it’s a matter of too much story crammed into too small a space.
Even when the story was ‘chronologically’ following the Doctor (aka, 1 season was 1 year of the Doctor’s life roughly) there were huge gaps in the story, as you only get 13 snippets of the Doctors story per year (although books and audio fleshed that out a lot).

Season 6 basically covered 200 years of the Doctor’s life in a few hours or… a little over-ambitious! (As well as telling the stories of the companions and other major events of course). You just couldn’t close up all the (main) gaps with so much going on.

I’m hoping with Season 7, the pace gets sorted out a bit. The easiest solution would be to make the episodes 1 hour long instead of 45 minutes… but BBC probably wouldn’t approve of that.

*Just to clarify. An extra 10-15 minutes may not sound like much, but in episodes like the finale, even an extra 5 minutes can have a huge impact on story and pacing (when in post-production, you’re literlly shaving off seconds here and there to meet the timing requirements).
Mofatt should have gotten permission to make the two ‘season’ finales a bit longer at least. My thoughts anyway.

I think it’s a given that River will be in season 7. I think she will be around for the rest of 11’s time, or at least while Amy and Rory are still in the show.
How big her part will be however, is hard to say.

Just had the final episode shown here in Australia. Very, very disappointed with the season finale.
    Way too much dialogue.
I love River, but really, no comparison with The Pandorica Opens from last year.

I’m quite sad as I feel the script writing for this season just gone (6) was drifting away from what makes my wonderful Doctor so special. I can’t put my finger on what has happened this year.
I sincerely hope next year we have the Doctor saving the Earth from the brilliantly evil Daleks, Cybermen etc….

The second half of the series fizzed out a bit for me. I think the fact that we pretty much skipped 200 years of the Doctor’s life had a lot to do with that. Up until now (new series), we’ve been pretty much following the Doctor chronologically from season 1-5 (he was ‘900’ in series 1, 901 in series 2, etc).

Skipping so much left the audience behind a bit, and left a lot of gaps and unanswered questions in the story… which is fine to a point, (you certainly want plenty of mysteries to look forward to), but you need enough ‘closure’ to get that real sense of satisfaction from the finale.

      That’s how I felt anyway.

    (Spoilers)

Well, this just aired in Australia… a good ‘ending’ but not fantastic. TBH I switched off a bit when we found out for sure that River was in the spacesuit… I was hoping for a twistie ending… like having the ganger Doctor in there or something (speaking of which, I was expecting the gangers to make an appearance in the finale).

And poor River… she saves her man by essentially breaking time… and she gets a dodgy sort-of bowtie wedding on top of a pyramid in an alternative reality. To a robot.
What’s a girl gotta do to get the Doctor’s attention!?

I think more than anything that this episode is setting up for season 7… which I’m looking forward to. (In which case, it works just fine).

A terrible episode! Personally I would Have Preferred to have seen a proper story with a full plot not a child’s interpretation e.g. So this happened and then this happened and then a big thing turns up out of nowhere. If this is where Steven Moffat’s writing is leading him he should be given his 1 or 2 episodes a year and we should get a head writer who actually knows when he is going to end a plot line!

I am glad that in the end, the finaly mentioned The Brigadeir’s passing away. It was better to have mentioned it, then to have left it unmentioned. And when I saw the scene that mentioned his death, and seeing the Doctor teary-eyed, it made me feel sad inside. He was a great man, and shall be missed dearly.

I thought The Wedding of River Song was the best episode. But the tittle doesn’t make sense, because if tieing your hands together with a bow tie and kissing someone is a wedding, what isn’t?

“The dalek…another throw away monster like the cybermen in a good man goes to war.

So many lose ends and pointless story threads.

Look at RTD stories. Much better overall.”

And the series has such a rich reservoir from the old classic series still waiting to be tapped without floundering story arcs.

I call: The Zygons, the Yetis, the Ice Warriors, Agador from Peladon, the Movellans,The Giant spiders of Metebelis Three,The Time Monster, The Axons, The Vervoids, the Krynoids, the mutants,The Ambassadors of Death, The Fury from the Deep.Oh and the giant maggots.

The Series should be moving on, having new threats and new themes, like it has been, and having great new thigns rather than just throw-away kisses to the past.

This is a Series that has been going on television, and continuing, BECAUSE it brings new things to it’s mythology, which is how it ultimately succeeds.

More so than just bringing back old monsters, if you want a Sereis that does that, you need only look at the bigfinish audioplays. 😉

I don’t disagree but this is Doctor Who not Kafka or Le Carré and shouldn’t try to be so.

There are plenty of perfectly intelligent people who don’t like the lack of signposting and clearer resolution as to what is happening;paricularly in relation to whether or not the Silence are behind the events in the Pandorica Opens.

How does their vehemence(paricularly that of Madame Kovarian going on about “the eternal war against you Doctor”) toward the Doctor make sense in relation to that? Nonsense.(As far as can seemingly be determined for now.)

When Star Trek Next Generation started they moved it on from the original with “having new threats and new themes” besides the old stagers like the Klingons and Romulans but they didn’t try to mystify their audience (Or too much)as to what was happening or leave them wondering whether or not this is getting made up as it goes along.

It also tries to be a bit too juvenile as well when it should be making Mary Whitehouse want to turn in her grave! The kids should be asking to watch it only if it dosen’t give them nightmares.

The maority of “monsters” in Doctor who are actualy supposed to be aliens whether terrestial lke the Silurians or Extraterrestial (which includes the Daleks)so why aren’t they called so?
