I reckon Torchwood has finally found its feet. Up until this series the show has struggled to attempt to gain the approval of the wider DW audience. Is it a kids show with stab in the dark at adult overtones or is it an adult show dampened down to grab the youth audience of DW? By focussing toward an adult audience – violence and swearing, less keff McCulloch type incidental music every second of the show – the show can focus on the action / script /plot and character development. I think it’s working. There is a lack of technological sci-fi i’ll admit, but I think this is a slow approach to a new adult feel. I’m loving the show and hope they can strike a balance on the scifi front. Remember folks it’s not SJA or DW it’s a post (UK) watershed show.

You need to give it a chance watch all the eps then you might you ‘oh that was quite good’ or you might think ‘that was the worst thing I have ever watched I have waste so many hours *gun shot*’.

well, the story of miracle day didn’t really grb me in the first place, so to me i did giove it a chance for 4 weeks, and after that it got too violent and jacks gay scene, and that tipped me off

i have decided top give it another go, apparently middle men is wicked!

i thought that this episode was too violent-i would have preferred either not to have the scenes in at all, or to have actually seen what had happened because what you imagine is far worse that what you see.
if torchwood had had a better start and had begun with aliens, it would have been much more appealing. but all of the mysteries and questions and ‘he’s about to tell us-oh no, he’s dead’ stuff is beginning to lose my interest.
if Torchwood fails, i want Jenny, the Doctors Daughter to have a spin off series.

I’m with you – I lost interest about 10 minutes into the first episode…the fact that only now has it just ever so slightly stepped up makes it too little too late for me.

I think a even better spin off would be Madame Vastra and Jenny (not the doctors Daughter, Jenny – the other one) and their victorian crime fighting adventures.

Did you know the actress who played The Doctors daughter is the real life daught of the 5th Doctor and the friend of the 6th doctors daughter and now she is set to marry the 10th doctor…all very odd.

I loved Escape to L.A., the best of the series so far (in my opinion)! The next one looks fantastic. This series was a bit slow to start but I think now it’s picking up pace and looks set to be a brilliant series!

Madame Vastra & Jenny would be a great spin off…and depending on the appoach it could be either aimed at kids or adults (or both like DW).

Its weird but TW is supposed to be the Adult spin off show…yet (sex and gore scenes a-side) it has a very childrens show feel to it. DW is far more dark and creepy….and rammed with sci-fi 🙂 Maybe Stephen Moffat should rescue TW as he did with DW.

Don’t let Moffet any where near torchwood he should have been saked after season 5 of doctor who I mean what was he thinking with the pandorica the only good ep was the lodger.

      August 5th, 2011 - 11:02am

I disagree, the Lodger has got to be one of the bad ones ! That scene with the Doctor in a towel, wielding a sonic-toothbrush, Fail !! 👿

There are plenty enjoying it, the viewing figures are good, but there are also a lot that that aren’t, its the same as everything else, changes will appeal to some but no to others, i’m just hoping things turn up a notch.

This has been way better than children or earth every body who moans about it being on starz first if starz hadn’t of stepped in there would be no torchwood you have to be watch all the eps you can’t just watch one and expect it to be good this isn’t doctor who which I love but Doctor who has lost it’s way themes like the the doctor being killed and the slince don’t work well on 45 min stuff they should be 1 hour and 10 eps no season break also though theme runing though a season doesn’t work well with doctor who bring back RTD.

Another rubbish episode. There is no more sci-fi in this series than there is in an episode of Spooks….and as for what the Miracle Day is all about…I dont really care anymore.

I don’t want say too much for those who have not yet been able to see it….but although it is better than last week (it would be hard not to be) its still just a cop/spy show with a few gadgets. Not the sort of Sci-Fi we have come to expect form the TW mob.

In my opinion, unless this style really works well in the US, I think we may be watching the last ever series of TW. RTD has reached out to a US production company and clearly got a nice budget to spend on FX etc (at least compared to a BBC3 budget) but then he has either forgot what TW is all about or he has been talked into a completed different approach by the US company – as I say, maybe this will work really well for US viewers…its certainly more inline with the types of US Sci-fi shows you can see on various cable stations…but I havnt spoken to anyone in the UK who is enjoying this series. I’m sure someone is 🙂

I want a micky spinoff or rose or even genny the doctor daughter was just left I think RTD wanted moffet to continue that but s.Moffet only wants to use his own stuff like why the weeping angles and river song keep coming back.
