Sorry. But as a long time whovian (+30 years), Season 9 as a whole is simply the worst series ever produced.

I tried (and even defended) Peter Capaldi’s Doctor when all around me hated him, but sorry he is literally the worst doctor in history.

I wont continue with Season 9. Purely because it is so dreadfully BAD that I cant bring myself too. In fact I would rather endure being given a root canal by a Cyberman followed by an enema from a Dalek.

Screwed up Doctor.. (trying too hard to replicate the great William Hartnell and not even coming close)
Screwed up the best Companion ever. (Sorry Sarah Jane).
Destroyed the opening sequence with some rediculous abomination (on par with 8th Doctor).
Now… Sonic Sunglasses, The Doctor riding on a Tank playing Heavy Metal Guitar into an arena in the 1100’s, A companion taking phone call from UNIT whilst teaching a high school class… (I wont even START on the Master/Doctor/Davros connection)

Sorry, if this is what they are thinking is good production, its time for the Doctor to take another 10 – 20 year break.

Woah now just hang on there mate, series 9 has not even finished yet, and for me has not yet appeared to be the worst series ever of modern day Doctor Who which for me is series 3 and 8.

Your so jumping the gun !!.

Watch the rest of series 9 and then see how you feel. Honestly, you can’t judge a new series by just watching 3 out of 12 episodes, for all we know, the best is still yet to come 🙂

I agree with Doctor Who One, I think you’re jumping the gun a bit early. However it’s your opinion and nobody is stopping you.

I wonder why nobody mentioned to the writer and producers that ‘Lunn’ is actually a rude word in Punjabi?

Anyone who knows what it means would’ve been cracking up when the doctor was shouting “Lunn, Lunn, are you there? Come in Lunn!”

Silly mistakes like this ruin the whole thing for me and to make it worse the doctor saying that sign language had been replaced with semaphore was unnecessary. I thought the Tardis translates every language anyway?

I think it only translates spoken and written languages. I could be wrong though.

If it can translate symbols why not signs?

I have to admit that when I first watched this episode I didn’t really like it, however after having watched it a second time, it’s really grown on me!

Regarding the love / hate towards the Doctor’s new Sonic Sunglasses, I wouldn’t really worry about it so much, because obviously there will come a day, if not while Peter Capaldi is still the Doctor and Steven Moffat is still running the show, that the Doctor will some day go back to using the Sonic Screwdriver which may come in a totally brand new form.

The Sonic Screwdriver to be honest IS constantly overused as a get out of jail free card by the writers, and to be fair to the new Sonic Sunglasses, the Doctor has so far not used them so much in just episodes 2 and 3 of series 9 in which the Doctor has used them [I’m excluding ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ because he wore them as everyday Sunglasses that time], so I don’t see why this is a massive problem with a lot of fan’s, and feel the online petition to get rid of them and have the Sonic Screwdriver back is going a little too far.

    The Sonic Screwdriver will return some day . . . . trust me . . . . I’m a Whovian 🙂

The scenes in which the ghosts were lured were also I thought reminiscent of scenes in Alien 3. In fact with the claustrophobia of an underwater base the whole thing was in parts almost Alien like except not in outer space.

This was definitely a really good episode. The story was great and took time to build itself up. The supporting characters were good, and I love how they just accept that the acting commander is deaf, no questions asked, she’s just the commander. A really nice, subtle touch. The ghosts were creepy, and gave me one or two scares. The Doctor was on form, as was Clara, and the part with the cards was pretty funny. The cliffhanger at the end took me by surprise, but I am a little bemused that the whole “The Doctor’s going to die!” theme Steven Moffat’s run of the show has had going on since The Big Bang was brought up just a week after the last time it was used. It’s being taken up to ridiculous amounts of repetitiveness. At the very least, it looks like it will have more of an affect on the story than the Doctor’s Confession Dial in The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar, which was completely inconsequential. Overall, a terrific episode, and I can’t wait for Before The Flood.

Another very strong episode. Although I did feel at times that the story was going quite slow, almost as though the writer suddenly realised that there’s also a part two to this adventure. Nevertheless, great performances, good atmosphere, and a very interesting plot. Good cliffhanger as well. So, at the moment I still prefer the epic openeing Dalek/Davros/Missy two-parter. But this one shows huge promise. 8/10

Because Episode 2 of S9 was in sync as was most of S8 but not episodes 1 or 3 of S9 or episodes 10 – 12 and Christmas of S8.
