Airing immediately after Doctor Who on BBC1, here’s a celebration of the Time Lord’s greatest companion played by actor Elisabeth Sladen, who passed away this week. Contributors include David Tennant and Matt Smith. Producers Gillane Seaborne and Brian Minchin.

I grew up on Dr Who, with Lis as his companion and I had hoped that maybe my own children would get the chance to do the same with The Sarah Jane Adventures, sadly that will not happen now.

A terrible loss to her family, and to those of us who remember her as a part of our own childhood. May you rest in peace Elisabeth, we miss you.

In a way yes, but in this case Elisabeth Sladen was a major character in an on-going TV series, some of series 5 has even been filmed, To loose a lead person in a currant tv show is rare and heartbreaking to fans of the show, past and present and deserves special attention, especially has she has such a large following of younger people, having said that I’m sure “the brig” will be talked about as well

Why wasn’t there a show for Nicholas Courtney as well? Seems a bit unfair.

I was in total-disbelief when I was told the news. Such a vibrant, full of life individual she seemed, only to succumb to terminal cancer.

It can happen to the best of people, we know that now.

I’ll definatly be watching, even if Doctor Who Confidential is on right after the Impossible Astronaut, but im sure we can all miss 15 minutes of that for Liz’s sake, plus we can allways catch up with Confidential on BBC IPlayer or something.

OMG…. I cannot believe that Elizabeth Sladen is no more. Shocked. Gutted. I absolutely adored her when she appeared in the 1970’s DW, was elated when she appeared with David Tenant, and ecstatic when she progressed through the Sarah Jane Adventures. And coming so soon after the Feb 2011 obituary of Nicholas Courteney.

    Shocked.

Hopefully, her legacy will live on, and Sarah Jane Adventures will continue.

    Love You Elizabeth Sladen. R.I.P.
