Doctor Who 50th Anniversary to be Shown in 3D

As part of the BBC’s blockbuster celebrations to mark the Doctor turning 50, fans will be able to see the Time Lord and his adventures like never before – in 3D!

To be broadcast using some of the BBC’s HD capacity, Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, said: β€œIt’s about time. Technology has finally caught up with Doctor Who and your television is now bigger on the inside. A whole new dimension of adventure for the Doctor to explore.

I find this just a little bit disappointing as the big celebration, doesn’t really make it any more special for those without access to 3D. I don’t know if I’m the only person thinking this, but it sounds like a way of sweet-talking those who are disappointed at the lack of another series later on in the year. I do hope that there is more than just this as the TV celebration.

I speak for those who have no 3d tv or cinema access. Shame on all involved, there is no mention of a version made for the aforementioned which actually constitutes the vast majority of whovians. Will the bbc broadcast it in normal HD at least?

Once for Channel 4 there was a 3D week and people wore 3D glasses and they didn’t need a special TV.

Don’t they have to film it in 3d then? As the bbc must really believe that it is good to film it in 3d!

It will just be on bbc 3d channel won’t it, and you have to have a 3d tv?
