Doctor Who Experience – Review/Pictures

Doctor Who Experience – Review/Pictures

As we all know today saw the first of 3 Doctor Who Experience preview days before the official opening on Sunday 20th February.

Tickets for the show are on sale now through www.doctorwhoexperience.com and watch out soon for a dedicated merchandise shop. You can also keep up to date via the Doctor Who Experience Twitter page.

The first thing to say is that we are not going to spoil anything of the experience itself here that isn’t already known – needless to say the less you know about it the more you will enjoy it! Its terrific fun, has a great ending and a few scares and surprises along the way. Its common knowledge that you spend a while in the 11th Doctors Tardis – worth most of the entrance fee alone. Photography is not allowed in the experience itself – understandable as it needs to be seen, heard and felt first hand and unspoilt.

Once you have finished your “your trip of a lifetime” you are greeted by an astonishing array of Monsters and villains from the Classic and new series. Photography is unrestricted here and below is a very extensive gallery of what’s on show but again don’t view this if you don’t want to know what’s there. The dedication and effort to bring such a collection together cannot be understated.

As any one who has been today will surely tell you its a credit to all involved and not to be missed and if you cant get to London then its in Cardiff next year.

There is an on-site shop which has a wide selection of merchandise although it was disappointing that an entire wall dedicated to the shows “exclusive” merchandise was empty with just a coming soon slogan.

We can also confirm that the advertised Wifi works successfully giving you a whole load of extra information relating to the monsters and aliens at the Doctor Who Experience.

I thought it would pretty much just be the real console and a ‘picture’ background

Its very large, you can see the doors for example, and about half the interior i would say, may be more its very impressive.

I’ve seen a picture on the web of the various tardis console rooms…How much (other than the consoles themselves) of the rooms are there (are they ‘sections’ of the sets rather than complete versions- still pretty cool) and, thank you for the answer about the 10th Doc’s tardis controls…I’d also like to ask how much of the Tenth Doc’s set other than the console is present and also genuine? I thought it would pretty much just be the real console and a ‘picture’ background. But that’s not what i now hear… Cheers!

Is that everything in the exhibition? Or is there more to see in there?

A Lot of of it but we haven’t included pictures of everything plus there is the pert where you can put your self in a picture with green screen and a walk like a monster section

For the Record I travelled all the way from North Wales for one of the test days it was well worth every penny of the fair and ever mile of teh trip ! It took me at least 2 hrs to cover the “Experience” then the exhibition combined that that was before I had even got to the shop ! This new Experience is is the best yet and to say that its not worth travelling for is (only in my opinion you understand !) incorrect ! I’ve already paid for tickets to come again in March and I would visit this over and over again and recommend it to anyone and everyone where ever they live !

Do you get to touch any of the things?
I want to go up to the Matt Smith dummy and the TARDIS. And in Matt’s TARDIS do you get to touch it? or any of the TARDISes?

You are asked not to actually touch any of the exhibits but you can get very close to them, much more so than other exhibitions i have been to. It is designed so you can stand next to the Matt Smith dummy and Tardis to have your photo taken with him

It’ll be an awesome piece of luck to have a chance to see the tenth Dr console. I so almost got to be on the tardis set during the Tonight’s The Night Alien Talent Search- one of the final ten contestants. I felt rubbish after missing out…but a Dr Who fan only ever has to bide his time! Now I finally can see the actual console!!! Which was surely the highlight of the set anyway! Yay!

is the tenth Doc tardis console the actual one or a replica?

Its the actual one and it looks very damaged when you see it close up, you can walk quite away around it. as for the other items mostly restored originals, not sure about the costumes but nothing here looks “fake” its all very very good, the classic console looks superb.

Question: is the tenth Doc tardis console the actual one or a replica? We all know the set got a bit…shall we say…trashed during that explosive regeneration scene. But surely the console itself was not beyond repair…is that the one? And how many of the costumes and objects are ‘real’ and not very realistic replicas?

do you actually get to go up close and in the 5th and 10th TARDIS sets?

you cant touch the consoles but yes you get very close, you can walk quite a way around the tenths, its the actual one from the show and it feels like your inside it – its all superb to be honest
