Somtimes you just need to except it for what it is …Sci-fi If you pull it appart, you will never enjoy it. On the other hand..lets hope that it never becomes so complex that all you are left with is just questions…tangles….confusion…total impossibilities. OR become so predictable and boring. right now its in the medium …a bit fabrication with some hints with plusable out comes. Its a beautiful series that is the oldest running sci-fi on television. and I hope it cont. for another 45yrs. for my daughter’s children to enjoy. there will always be unanswered questions and loop holes. It’s a lovely story …let it be..

and as far as river… well we don’t know if she is married to the dr. Maybe masters is her husband. We havn’t seen the last of her thats for certain!! And the doctor…liar Liar.. he did read her book, how else did he know the words were coming back!! So its possible he has an idea what will happen ..somewhat( words still appearing in book which is why he asks her “are you married” )Or could I be wrong? It SUCKS to wait sooooo looooong for the next epy.:( It’s not fair!!! Mofat…what a writter :)Genuis… I hope he continues to wow us in every epy!! No one could have ever guessed what was going to happen in this 13 th epy ..My daughter said it was like trying to guess the #’s to a combination lock. So many variations- possibilities . Complex yes I like complex. Can’t wait till the next epy!!! <:0

“Big Bang” was one of the best Dr Who episodes ever. Superbly complex plotting, great emotional scenes, brilliant acting, so many unexpected twists, incredible the way it pulled together so many incidents and themes from across the whole of series 5. I loved it. It was even better when watched for a second time. Best series finale ever, a really satisfying conclusion.

    **SPOILER ALERT** **SPOILER ALERT**

Scene: The Doctor suddenly materializes on the exploding Tardis
The Doctor: “Hi Honey. I’m home.”
River looks at her watch: “And what sort of time do you call this?”
(for me, the best one-liner of this episode”

I am really liking the character of River. The Darlek was actually intimidated by River…WTF! Who is she??? It looks like she will be reappearing in next season, yea!!!

Kind of “Field of Dream”ish…”If you build it, they will come” BUT in the case of Amy; if you remember it, it will come back.

I liked the first half, but the end lacked something…I dunno…

Well, I’m disappointed. It was not a reset button, but a reset none the less. Although the universe was collapsing, it felt like a slower pace than last week’s episode. BTW…why did the Pandorica take so long to open last week but this week, all you have to do is touch it and it opens???!!!

It annoyed me that after all that speculation we STILL dont know who took over the tardis! And i thought that river had the wrist time strap thing. how did the doctor get it? and yeh i agree i think this is probably the worst finale since the shows revival. It was left on a massive cliffhanger in ep 12 but it didnt seem to continue in adrenaline in 13…

Im absolutly obsessed with Doctor who, always have been and always will be, but that was a very dissapointing ending to series 5, the worst series fanale since it has come back on T.V, I was expecting the “The Big Bang” to mean what it said and be the best explosive ending ever but it just boring from start to finish,
very disapointed Doctor Who team, VERY disapointed….still now its time to look forward to Christmas, bring on the Christmas Special!!!

This series overall has been great! Matt has followed David’s Doctor brilliantly and Karen as Amy was superb. My only flaws were that most episodes I didn’t understand because of quick dialogue, epescially in this episode, and I’m not keen on Rory much, quite annoying. And I was dissapointed because The Big Bang was not as dramatic or emotional as The Pandorica Opens was. And I’m also getting bored of Daleks in every finale!
But I’m looking to Christmas and next year! Just who or what is River Song and the ‘Silence’?

    🙂

That was a very good episode,
most of the complaints on here are from people who haven’t watched the episode properly – a lot of the things the doctor said actually cleared up some of the issues people have made about the episode.
I love the fact that it explained the jacket!

That was one of the BEST EPISODES EVER!

Far better than any of the Russell T Davies finales. It was so complex yet made so much sense at the end.

    I loved it 🙂

Well….WHAT THE HECK DID I JUST WATCH???
    Answered quesions: Zero.

Firstly, no dramatic ending that shocks you, just the doctor dancing pefetically and Amy smiling about nothing!
Then this hidden voice was not revealed due to lazy writting.
The figure inside Amies house wasnt revealed.
And there was nothin said of the allience.

    Shocking.

I thought Steves writting was amazing throughout this season but this last episode just ruined the whole thing.
The pandorica opens was amazing mysterious and deep inside i knew nothing could match to it.

But this was shockin. compared to master, Davros , Emperor of Daleks and Cyber war, this big bang was nothing.

Sorry, but it is the truth.

Apart from that is was watchable and enjoyable but lack of answers.

Wow! I know there are a lot of negative comments here but I thought that was amazing, even if my dad did talk ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT- argh! It was pretty complex but not too much I didnt think- the end of time, where David Tennant left the show, was probably a bit too complex- i got it, but the people watching it with me kept asking me to explain what was happening. All in all, an amzing series, I for one cannot wait until Christmas (I might start my advent calender now 😛 ) 😀

darren the dr said that the tardis and himself would be trapped the other side of the crack. My guess is that Amy, having grown up by the crack, is somehow connected to the energy that makes the crack, therefore she can act as an ancohor that the dr can lock onto to allow him to get back from the other side.

Rory is now human, everything that happened as a result of the cracks never happened, the only reason amy can remember him is because of the reasons above.

Well your all very lucky to have seen it as we had an aerial installer who was changing our aerial to get better reception but when he left we had no reception at all,nil nothing that was at 6.30 so i missed it all.

not only that but no signal – no recording i cant even watch it now

Compared to previous series this one was not up to what we have come to expect, ok budget wise it has been made a little cheaper this year but that’s no excuse!
the suspense has been sadly lacking to what we have had in the past and i think steve moffet and the other writers need to do better next time!

One thing that i am puzzled about is that when the pandorica was flown into the explosion it was supposed to restore history in which case how much and how far back?
on the whole a good episode but could have been better

    June 26th, 2010 - 7:21pm

That was utter rubbish. What a quaint ending, how sweet lol.

I mean really, the Dr is entirely erased from history, and Amy Pond remembers someone who does not exist?

I know this is science-fiction, but come on, that episode was not even credible.

The BBC have ruined what once WAS a decent corner stone of British Sci-Fi Television. It wasn’t even credible as a kids TV show tonight.

If you disagree with I do not care, you evidently have no idea of decent writing.

Bye, bye Dr Who, this programme is now off my viewing list for good.

    utter rubbish.

It said: “As the Pandorica Opens – Silence will fall.
    There was NO Silennce????

That voice in “The Pandorica Opens” sounded like Davros and hhe said: ” Silence will fall”.

i dont see the point in Omega coming back what exactly will he do

  • Darren

    June 26th, 2010 - 7:14pm

It made no sense. The Doctor was removed from reality so how did crying about him bring him back. There is a difference between a complex and rewarding plot and just throwing a happy ending that makes no sense.

    Unresolved issues:
Is Rory still made out of plastic?
How did remembering the Doctor make the Tardis not be damaged in the explosion?
Did the Pandorica not seriously damage time resulting in a complete re-format of modern history let alone Amy pond or Rory not being born in the first place?
How would the Tardis exploding cause that; its just a conduit for the time stream (thing, it was mentioned at the end of New S1 finale).

Come on the writing for this series has been bellow standard from the start. It is nothing to do with the shows new lower budget its just been incredibly badly written not taking into consideration any of the past Lore of the series.
