First Look at New Updated Movie K9
This weekend at the DWAS event The Capitol Paul Tams and Bob Baker exclusively revealed the first practical presentation prop of the new look updated K9.
The prop will be used to showcase the K9 Movie that is currently in pre-production with UK, Canadian and Australian backing.
Bob Baker has written the script.
The prop will be used at Merchandising fairs as well as Film Trade shows and several SciFi/Comic conventions to mark the 40th Anniversary of K9’s first TV appearance. Paul and Bob should also be in attendance at these events.
As the next few months go along more and more will be revealed about the forthcoming film starring everyone’s favourite Robot Dog!

May 22nd, 2017 - 10:31ami didn’t like the Australian Series,K9 was much better in the 1981 ‘K9 and Company’-that almost became a series
No name
May 21st, 2017 - 7:03pmI believe the film would be good but The original K-9 design was much better and it is a slight let-down. The Australian TV series was a piece of rubbish. It would be good with a dynamic like Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 in The Sarah Jane Adventures and if that happened it would be a certainly good film to watch.

May 20th, 2017 - 12:02pmTo boost the viewership, Capaldi should be in a scene tinkering with this new K-9 in an episode or mini video played on b.b.c.

May 17th, 2017 - 5:52pmIs there a reason the BBC never wanted/allowed a k9 spin off series/movie. I mean, k9 is pretty iconic, probably more iconic than cpt. Jack (IMO) and he still got a spin off.
I think the tv series main downfall was very similar to why class didn’t didn’t do that well:
Unsuccessful spin off series:
-lacking of a CONSTANT link to the main show, instead a (in reterospective) forced link in the pilot in an attempt to make it feel waranted. (K9s design changed and he had no memories of his time with the doctor, so he felt like a different character)
-A painfully evident american influnce, regardless of the fact its set in the UK, detracting from the shows british charm.
-weak villains, with no overlinking threats from the main series (except in the case of the class finale cliffhanger, but it was not focus on the series and we now will probably never know the outcome…)
-weak publicity, assuming the loyal whovians will just buy in and that will be enough to profit.
In my opinion the BBC could have avoided this for k9 by allowing K9 to happen with them.
Regerdless i have hope for this movie and i hope it does well, i just had to get that rant out…

May 17th, 2017 - 2:09pmSome films dont take that long to film. If its a small production it could take a couple of mounths to make and 1 month or so to edit and get ready. Think about it the 50th speacil was flimed in august time or so and aired in noveber so there is time to get the film going. I am sure this flim is gonna good. But its clearly gonna be a small one not like star wars or titanic
Original Time Lord
May 10th, 2017 - 1:38pmI bought Bob Baker and Paul Tams book, ‘The essential book of K9’ at a DWAS event. It’s a must read and informs us as to why they HAD to change the look of K9 for the tv series and the actual nightmares they had to meet demands from financial partners such as Disney. For all those who don’t realise exactly how difficult it is/was to get K9 a chance, you should read it, you may appreciate their efforts more. Plus, just to point out, they did approach the BBC on many occasions, but the BBC didn’t want to know about it preferring to concentrate on their own ideas like Class. I say good luck to them and as they are producing a FAMILY film rather than a FAN aimed film, I can’t see why it wont be popular. This is a K9 for a new generation.
Floppy Who
May 9th, 2017 - 5:55amThere are quite a few changes from the design in the spin off TV series. When the new film design was first showcased by Bob and Paul at the 2015 Pandorica Convention in Bristol (this is where they revealed there would be a K9 film), they pointed out the main changes were smaller ears, the removal of the bone motif and the reinstatement of the Classic series dog collar and dog tag.
When The Doctor Was Me
May 8th, 2017 - 3:00pmIt’s not amazing but its a modern take on a very classic design. for some reason I have never thought 11 would suit the original design had it appeared in his reign, but this sort of design would have.

May 7th, 2017 - 2:15pmI’ts actually quite cute, I do think they should add a retractable jaw piece for when he talks and his EYE PANEL should be a mini display screen to animate the eyes to make it more EMOTIVE. I freely give the owner the right to use this idea if they havent began filming because I would like to see this succeeded. Love the 4th doctor era and K-9 .
The Outcast
May 7th, 2017 - 10:44amClass is dead (thankfully). Saying that, Ram seems to be appearing this series at some point.
The Outcast
May 7th, 2017 - 10:43amThey have to due to licencing issues from what I’ve heard. Shame, really.

May 7th, 2017 - 6:54amIs there really any point to this at all, it’s only going to end up being a disappointment to all involved. Grant you it will appeal to many and equally repel many, similar to the Daleks films from the 60’s.

May 7th, 2017 - 12:57amAll characters are owned by the writers who created them, not the BBC (barring a tiny number of exceptions that can be counted on a single hand).

May 6th, 2017 - 8:25pmDon’t like it they shouldn’t change the look of K9. Keep the old 1 I for 1 will not get any merchandise for it nor will I see only films with this K9 in. ;(
The Dalek Whovian
May 6th, 2017 - 6:02pmIt could be awesome you never know, or it could not be. But Im hoping that they will do Omega justice
12th Doctor Fan
May 6th, 2017 - 5:37pmNot interested I hate the new design yes there are several in Dr Who but at least they kept to the original. Will buy K9 t shirt if it’s original design but not bothering with the film.
booboo
May 6th, 2017 - 5:06pmthis K9 is assumed to be the one left with leela
It appeared as a trade of to allow its use in Doctor Who again, that one was the one left with Sarah Jane by the 4th Doctor
Ian
May 6th, 2017 - 4:45pmThe K9 from the TV series (not doctor who) when the show started the first episode had ‘our’ K9 then he was destroyed…but actually regenerated into the other version
Jordan Scott
May 6th, 2017 - 4:31pmThat’s interesting, and yes that’s true so at least the original design is still out there somewhere.
JasonisnotaRobot
May 6th, 2017 - 3:49pmI don’t what to see what they are going to do do him
The Surgeon
May 6th, 2017 - 3:38pmI like any design of K-9, but the problem I have is the idea of a film, rather than a spin-off series. I know we have/had Class (any news?) and that was brilliant but still.
Also, if this film does have Omega in it, does that mean it is in any way associated with Doctor Who, or has Bob Baker separated it from the BBC?
The Dalek Whovian
May 6th, 2017 - 3:29pmI wonder what they will do about Omega?
booboo
May 6th, 2017 - 2:28pmthat’s the Problem, Bob baker owns the rights to K-9 as in the character but they cant use the design used in Doctor Who
So as its his “Child” he can develop the character into this film but only with a new design
Also people tend to forget there are actually several K-9s not just the one.
Jordan Scott
May 6th, 2017 - 2:11pmI just can’t see this working at all. If I owned the legendary image of K-9 the last thing I would want to do would be to completely change it to some unrecognisable and generic robot dog.
The Outcast
May 6th, 2017 - 1:51pmWhen is this film coming out. It’s meant to be this year, but if they are only starting to film now…
glawton
May 6th, 2017 - 1:49pmit looks a bit like the one from Australian series
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 1:21pmNope. The original k9 from doctor who was the best. If its not in the film its a no watch for me
