Doctor Who: Brand New Ice Warrior Picture

Doctor Who: New Ice Warrior Picture

From www.sfx.co.uk

Here’s your first good look at the new Ice Warrior design. It’ll make its debut in the third episode of Doctor Who series 7b, written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Very faithful, isn’t it? Is he wearing old-fashioned 3D glasses in anticipation of November’s anniversary special, or is that just a trick of the light?

Producer Caro Skinner discusses the new series of Doctor Who, from Ice Warriors to Cybermen and all points inbetween, in the next issue of SFX, #233 – on sale Wednesday 6 March with a Doctor Who cover.

I’m liking the new look for them. I can imagine quite clearly what they’ll be like in the episodes. 🙂

They’ve just been on a diet of protein shakes for the past few years.

Yeah I hate the new Daleks too. I like the new Ice Warriors design better than the classic ones. I hated the hair that came out from the gaps in their joints. That was a terrible idea. As for the slightly new armor, I think that it isn’t too chunky or too futuristic looking. They have to adapt to keep up with modern day audiences.

Just cos the Ice-Warriors were mentioned in the Waters of Mars and the Flood have tides with the Ice Warriors doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll be coming back. I personally think if they did, that would ruin a little bit of their mystery. I think 1 Story is enough for them.

Yeah, I think they’re going to do a “Cyberman” and the gun pops out of their wrist or something. That’d be cool.

On its right arm there is a device that looks like the blaster.

Just thought of something, where are its sonic blasters? Other than that the design is pretty good!

I prefer them with three fingers, because I saw the figure before the episode and thought it had lego hands.

They’ve stayed as close to the original design as they can! They can’t have the exact same design from the 60’s and 70’s. It just wouldn’t work. They have to adapt to keep up with the modern day audience. Basically saying, that they need to make changes to keep viewers sucked in and like Booboo stated before, Bubble Wrap painted green doesn’t work anymore!

The 10th Doctor story is hardly about the ice warriors, he only references them, he says that there were people that might have frozen whatever the flood was, and that they used there knowledge and wisdom to do so.

What you see is merely battle armour. The ice warrior itself is underneath the armour. Think of it like a knight.

They look great, but I hope this does NOT mean the return of The Flood. That would ruin it.

I think it’s armour, but not armer

I agree that Moffat didn’t total destroy the proud worriers of ice, but the new design didn’t impress me. The new shel is very blocky and just doesn’t look as good as the original, which had hair and a interesting texture.

It’s just looked like another cheep alien and why did they mess up there hands!!! Sure they looked a bit cheesy, but instead of taking time to design a really cool had they just took the easy way.

Well I just they aren’t as nearly as bad as the silurians, by the way I’m still waiting for a apology for that!

Oh and the new 2010 Daleks are absolutely desisting!! I mean who would design a Dalek off the movie Daleks … AND MAKE THEM WORSE!!!!!

I have been wondering. is that the ice warriors real body or is just like armer. Because the mouth bit is like normal skin but the rest of it is rock hard. And the eyes cant be red glass.

yeah. i was really anoyed with the way they done the
silurians. They had nothing in commen with the classic ones.

If your asking if the 10th Doctor said where all extinct in ‘The Waters of Mars’, then no, he didn’t say that, and they couldn’t be extinct anyway, as their classic series appearances take place chronologically after the ends of that particular 10th Doctor adventure.

In my opinion, the Kandyman could be terrifying at times! If only they’d given him more than one incredibly chilling scene where he’s captured the Doctor…
