July 20th, 2017 - 2:53amI know a lot of people are upset that the Doctor is female but I’m more disappointed that the Doctor has yet to become a ginger.

July 20th, 2017 - 2:26amAs a woman I still feel very strongly against a woman as a Dr. As it was put earlier, when he changed he said another man will take my place, not another being as if to speculate it might be a woman.
Too many concerns over equality are intruding on 54 years of perfection for me. They’re taking something that’s not broken and trying to fix it.
Will I watch it? No I can’t. The purity of the Dr and his true fans I hold dear to me are having trouble tolerating this pay and feminism dispute. In my 55 years I’ve seen too many shows fall prey to demands only to be removed the following year from lack of viewer following.
The announcement was an extremely sad day for me. I actually shed tears because the Dr has been an institution for me, a rather life long companion of my own. My husband and I perplexed as to why the Dr was allowed to fall into the hands of such need for diversity.
We will never know I suppose. I do hope it does not fall by the wayside because someone felt the need to fall to their knees and meet the societal demands. The Dr’s too good for that.

July 20th, 2017 - 1:59amMy sentiments exactly!!!
The Moffat Paradox
July 20th, 2017 - 1:26amI’ve made my extreme scepticism about the development abundant and while Missy and the General’s regeneration in Hell Bent were signposts I nonetheless enjoyed Michelle Gomez as Missy and her combination of mad zaniness and pure malevolence.(Though I also like John Simm’s classic Master.)
My and others problem is: put in some Liberal Left PC biases, and some gender changing Gallifreyians if YOU MUST (We’ll otherwise just grit our teeth about it) but otherwise LEAVE him known as the Doctor AS HIM.

July 20th, 2017 - 12:50amGood get out clause for male (normal) regeneragtion 14.

July 20th, 2017 - 12:38amOnly because he was rumoured to play the doctor. I wouldn’t put that much faith in it

July 20th, 2017 - 12:12amHey, did anyone notice that when Moffat wrote ” Doctor Who and the fatal death “, right before the revived show he cast 4 male doctors and then a female doctor ? Then the Actual show casts 4 males then a female. The fatal death had the master falling for a female doctor which mirrors the Missy Capaldi interactions. As well as some other little similarities.

July 19th, 2017 - 11:13pmI felt sometimes they were leading the doctor. Some of them are strong characters like martha before she went to torchwood. No one can really say woman arent represented well in doctor who they had the perfect balance male doctor and female companion. It shouldnt be a female companion because their needs to be a balance. We live in a fair society boys need role models to.

July 19th, 2017 - 11:00pmMore rumours..Kris marshall is the new companion..
Doctor Stu
July 19th, 2017 - 10:39pmMaybe the thirteenth doctor is a woman because the female heather space puddle tears that Bill cries land on the doctors forehead at the end of the doctor falls. Someone even commented a couple of weeks back that the doctor began to regenerate at the spot where the tears fell. Maybe this influences the transition, just a thought I don’t know

July 19th, 2017 - 10:20pmin youtube terms the amount of thumbs down are massive make no mistake
around 35% as opposed to around 2% for the Capaldi and Smith reveals
I would be a thumbs up for the record but the negativity is far greater than some people would like to admit.

July 19th, 2017 - 10:13pmHow do you know their fake though?
Looks like for himself he was right to be concerned, surely the BBC shouldn’t give false promises like that
The Living Shadow
July 19th, 2017 - 10:07pmI don’t think there’s too much of a negative response. Don’t get me wrong it’s probably the most negative out of all the new Doctor announcements…
An example of what I mean is how on BBC’s facebook posts, there are more negative comments, however the ‘like’ and ‘heart’ reactions colossally outnumber the ‘angry’ reactions. It seems that most of the supporters are less vocal about their opinions.
We know that she won’t be the shortest incarnation of the Doctor, as we know she’ll have a small scene in the upcoming special, as well as at least 1 series, which is more than Eccleston and McGann (excluding Big Finish).

July 19th, 2017 - 10:06pmThis is a great article, thanks Booboo! It’s true that this is a test I h time for the show and as usual, with every doctor that is cast, we are not all on the same page. Let’s at least see her in action first. The 30 seconds at the end of the Christmas special that Jodie will play out in Peters clothes. I always love that bit.
I personally think she will be great and I hope that other do too or will come round

July 19th, 2017 - 9:50pmWho was the BBC staff member?…Steven Moffat? Clearly this fan was concerned about the next Doctor being female. As he could see the story arc during the last 3 series has been a gender agenda.

July 19th, 2017 - 9:48pmThey fake documentaries so why should we ever trust them?

July 19th, 2017 - 9:39pmWe have seen today with the announcement of BBC stars pay, how much there is a pay difference between male and female stars. I think casting a woman in the role of the Doctor is the BBC under pressure to equal opportunities and equal rights. It surely isn’t coincidence that Jodie Whittaker was confirmed as the 13th Doctor, in the same week that BBC stars pay would be revealed. They knew it would show up the pay gap between the male and female performers, and would be asked why aren’t the women getting paid more, and in more major roles. Then the BBC can reply and say “well, look what we’ve done with Doctor Who. We are clearly listening and acting”.

July 19th, 2017 - 9:36pmI thought it was a heart felt admission to how they feel, I feel more or less the same but I will definitely be watching season 11, or at least start to.
Well done Peter Davidson, legend.

July 19th, 2017 - 9:30pmAgreed. Since the announcement my feelings have been mixed. From a beaming smile when we seen Jodie’s face in the trailer, then feeling a bit appalled by her casting, then thinking “I dunno it might work”. Then feeling annoyed that the BBC/Moffat and Chibnall have forced this gender agenda. To then thinking ” actually Jodie Whittaker is a very talented actress…it might work…if of course written well”. I’m currently in the wait and see mode and sitting on the fence. But I fully understand and appreciate these different viewpoints. But we should all respect each other, and keep the debate clean and moderate.

July 19th, 2017 - 9:19pmTim M I have spent the last half hour doing just that and more, they say I will get a reply so we will see.
I was calming down until I read the complaints response.

July 19th, 2017 - 9:15pmWell isn’t this a pickle?
A woman Doctor, hmmm not sold on the idea as it’s taken this long to get one.
If you look at the signs we had a Male time lord regenerate into a female, The master changed into a female, we’re we soften up for this? I didn’t rate Missy very good so was good to see J.Simms back.
Will the 13th Doctor work….
well this could be a big fail as there is a huge negative response to her which could back fire on the BBC and it’s the 13th version (unlucky for some)
I don’t like her personally feel she’s too… big headed but that’s my opinion.
In all this could mark either the quickest regeneration to the 14th or the end of doctor who.
we will wait and see

July 19th, 2017 - 9:00pmi have just seen one well known site have the guts to say how they really feel for which i applaud them, i dont share their views for the most part but i’m getting rather fed up people trying to dictate to others how they should take this
Peter Davison is one of the few people i have seen who has it right
It might be more helpful to be encouraging, and not simply scornful, of fans who are uncertain about change.
