No full Doctor Who Series for 2012 – update
No full 2012 Doctor Who series
From Steven Moffat via twitter…
Dr Who: misquotes and misunderstandings. But I’m not being bounced into announcing the cool stuff before we’re ready. Hush, and patience.
lizo_mzimba said via his twitter feed that “There will not be a full series of Dr Who in 2012! BBC confirms that BBC One Controller said this earlier today”
The news was originally revealed by Wayne Clarke who was at a conference where Danny Cohen was speaking.
This may mean that although 14 new episodes are to be made, they may be spread over 2 years. This may be nothing more than a build up to 2013, the shows 50th anniversary.
He also said: “Worth repeating, BBC says Danny Cohen’s comment that Steven Moffat needed time for Sherlock hence shorter DW run wasn’t meant to be serious.”
later adding “Bit of confusion, to summarise: no FULL 13 episode series of Dr Who in 2012. So some episodes will still go out in 2012. Remainder in 2013.”

April 27th, 2012 - 9:35amif steven moffat wants yo focus on sherlock thats fine because i am a big fan of that too. however, if that is the case then he needs to step down as head writer of Doctor Who. honestly his writing has been doing down since he began over-using perception filters in series 5. He should not let DW rot just because in his mind sherlock takes priority, thats not the case with the fans and i imagine its not the case with the rest of the DW production team

The 14th Doctor
August 23rd, 2011 - 11:05pmSteven Moffat is getting to proud of himself. That’s the problem. He is forgetting that Doctor Who is essentially a kids show. His stories are designed for Sci-Fi geeks like us, not families. Families are who Doctor Who should be aimed at. I’ve heard Moffat use the excuse “My children can always understand this” or “My kids know what’s been going on”. Well his kids don’t exemplify the entire world. He needs to realise that the child viewers are getting fed up. The kids aren’t like us fans. When they get bored they switch off. Simple as. Same with parents. Me thinks Doctor Who needs a new lead writer, and fast.

August 30th, 2011 - 5:02pmThere have never been better scripts, more complicated and intriguing plots, or fascinating characters than in Moffat’s episodes. It was never designed as a kid’s show. . And obviously you don’t have any kids, because I know plenty of fans under the age of ten with whom I’ve carried out deep discussions about the current series. As for getting bored – the series has never been more interesting. And I think the awards Moffat’s getting from his incredible writing outweighs anything you’ve got to say.

September 21st, 2011 - 3:58amIn reply to this, I’m thirteen, and i think the show is pure brilliance. Nearly all of my friends watch it, and we almost always understand the storylines. And if we don’t fully, the fun in it’s is returning to school next day and spending the entirety of recess having heated arguments about the plot. When Moffat took over from Russel T Davis, i was a bit worried, because the combination of David Tennant and Davis was really extraordinary. But i think that’s just what comes with having a new doctor, let alone a new writer. In fact, i think his stories are some of the best, but his monsters..are terrible. Some of the concepts of them are great (and terrifying) but sometmes the execution of the special effects…it really lets them down (i.e. The parrot thing in the Van gogh episode, and the eyeball in the first matt smitth one ) . I guess that may not be him at fault though. The one thing i HATE which he’s done is the daleks! For god’s sakes, he’s turned them into teletubbies!

July 18th, 2011 - 11:40pmI’ll say Mark Gatiss might join the show as head writer as long as he doesn’t screw up, because Davies and Moffatt both made the show too campy which is pretty disgusting and the new aliens are not that great either and that’s why the two of them both ruined the Dr Who after all we originally knew the original classic series the best so they need to find a better 12th or 13th Doctor Who who is the most serious and better of all the current doctors we had now should cast David Schwimmer instead and why not?

The 14th Doctor
August 23rd, 2011 - 11:31amMark Gatiss would totally ruin it! Victory of The Daleks was rushed and lacked any sort of plot, The Idiots Lantern was exceptionally average, and The Unquiet Dead was boring. You want this man to be the head writer???
Chris
July 10th, 2011 - 1:48amSPLITTERS!!!!! Bring back RTD! Or bring Mark Gatiss to run the series. It could cost another Doctor to regenerate. Matt Smith’s Doctor has not fully regenerated in my opinion. All that troughing about bow ties, fezzes, stetsons, jammie dodgers, etc. He needs to be snapped out of it and regenerated properly like Peter Davison in Castrovalva, and David Tennnant in his pyjamas.

July 1st, 2011 - 2:43pmOh, booboo, have you forgot Series 6 on ‘Doctor Who, on this day…’?
Intergalactic
July 1st, 2011 - 2:42pmI hope they’re specials, not ordinary 45-minute episodes, because that would be outrageous, since there are only about five episodes next year.
The Doctor
July 1st, 2011 - 3:11pmIt a joke! I don’t know why they don’t just do a full series!

June 30th, 2011 - 5:07pmAlthough, reading more about this “crisis”, it’s not too bad. It’s just like in 2009, and it will probably be exactly the same as that.

June 30th, 2011 - 4:51pmSteven Moffat’s gone a bit to far. If only Russell was back.

June 30th, 2011 - 4:50pmWho cares about Sherlock?! Doctor Who is far better than that silly programme!
Seb
July 5th, 2011 - 3:49pmI think Sherlock’s a good show, not quite the same as Doctor Who, but the Holmes character is a kind of darker, less compassionate kind of Doctor himself. Still, I don’t see why Doctor Who should be postponed for it.
