Tardis Sound Heard at Olympic Opening

Something “Doctor Who” at Olympic opening ceremony

The Tardis engines were briefly heard at the Olympic opening ceremony. Newspapers had reported the theme tune was on a list due to played at the event which evidently was untrue.

However videos taken by the public show that a montage of The Doctors was shown on a big screen at rehearsals.

Recorded TV Videos of the Tardis sound have been blocked.

Honestly, I felt that the inclusion was the perfect nod to the Doctor. Those who know him have all immediately recognized his materialization. But to those who don’t know him, it was merely noise and not enough to warrant further thought. (I mean, all the companions come running from blocks away when the TARDIS lands in a city, yet no one else ever takes notice). Plus, The Doctor has never gone out of his way to grab the limelight. He (mostly) just observes. So I think that was Danny’s way of letting us, those in the know, know that the Doctor was indeed there, and that if he had to step in to stop any threat, then we will never have to know. Because that is the true Doctor, the silent guardian.

    Stuff the Olympics 😛

I only stayed up until 11.00am expecting to hear the Doctor Who theme with everyone their cheering the theme tune, not to just hear the Tardis englines go off and just leave it at that.

Christ I hope the next two weeks of this Olympic waste-of-time-and-more-importantly-MONEY just flies past at warp speed . . . . “Engage !!” 😀

That was footage from the movie Bert and Dickie, during the Olympics in ’48
and the singer is Alex Turner, of Arctic Monkeys, that’s how he looks.

Watching it on American TV now. I would be sorely disappointed if it was just the TARDIS engine. I mean Doctor Who is an English staple as much as James Bond – and they had him escort the Queen and jump out of an Air Plane.

I hate it when the News Papers release something to get our hopes up and then it never happens, I found a website that had a list of all the pieces of music that was supposed to be played in the ceremony and the doctor who theme was one of the pieces that was meant to be played 🙁

I’m pretty sure you could see Math Smith running at the beginning of Rowan Atkinson’s dream, not sure if anyone mentionned it…

Also, the guy singing the Beatle’s song looked a lot like David Tennant to me, but maybe I’m just paranoid.
