Daleks’ Return For The 50th Special First official Image!
From the official site
The BBC has announced that the Doctor’s most famous foes, the Daleks, will return to Doctor Who in the show’s fiftieth anniversary special. We’ll bring you more news about the adventure as it emerges, but for now, here’s the latest press release in full:
MATT SMITH, DAVID TENNANT AND JOHN HURT TO FACE OFF AGAINST DALEKS IN 50th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL
The Doctors, Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt will battle the deadly Daleks, the BBC announces today, in the show’s 50th anniversary special.
Returning to BBC One on 23 November the highly anticipated adventure will star: Matt Smith; Jenna Coleman; David Tennant; Billie Piper; John Hurt and Joanna Page. In a surprise twist in the recent series finale it was revealed John Hurt would be playing a Doctor, alongside Smith and Tennant.
The Daleks are the second monster to be announced for the 50th and will join the shape shifting Zygons, which have only appeared in the show once before in 1975. The Daleks were one of the first monsters to terrify audiences in 1963, 50 years ago, cementing their place in British popular culture.
Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, said:
“The Doctor once said that you can judge a man by the quality of his enemies, so it’s fitting that for this very special episode, he should be facing the greatest enemies of all.”
The 50th anniversary episode was shot earlier this year at BBC Cymru Wales’ Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff and across South Wales. Filming also took place in iconic London locations the Tower of London and Trafalgar Square for a huge stunt, which saw Matt Smith dangling from a TARDIS alongside Nelson’s Column.

July 25th, 2013 - 6:31pmthe Radio Times talks about the possibility of one of the Doctors from the classic series [4,5,6,7 or 8] making an appearance in the 50th Anniversary Special.

July 28th, 2013 - 10:04amIt believed to be the 8th as he had meant to be filmed something, I think it might be the regen from 8 to 9 with John hurt appearing in between the regen or like the 4ths regen when John hurt walks into Paul’s doctor and regens into the 9th eccolston (with eccston being footage from his series)
The Valeyard.
July 29th, 2013 - 12:28pmif they include two classic doctors.
The Eighth Doctor as he’s had little screen time.
and..
the Fourth Doctor as he’s the most iconic doctor.

July 25th, 2013 - 11:30amit’ll be worth the wait, when we finally see the trailer. i think its fair enough that the Who fans who pay a premium at the San Diego Comic con get an exclusive, or it would lower the value of the experience.

July 25th, 2013 - 9:30pmTwo things:
1.) */If/ we see the trailer… (Though I /really/ hope we do!)
2.) Some people can’t afford to make it over to America and SDCC and also, life gets in the way. Some people could probably afford it but had things planned for those dates, things happened at the last minute… Or school. School is a vital issue for younger Whovians, like myself.
That’s all! 🙂

The Moffat Paradox
July 24th, 2013 - 3:21pmIf we are all dissatisfied by the preferential showing of trailers abroad then there is only one answer which is complain en masse to the BBC about it so that a formal response has to be given. Although actual series episodes being screened elsewhere before in the UK would be a far greater transgression.

July 24th, 2013 - 9:23amIf you’re going to make this big deal about the new ‘Pure Daleks’, then please use that concept instead of using the tired old bronzies. I am SO SICK OF THESE THINGS. I loved the paradigm design, I really hope they get to show their new colours (geddit). 😀
It felt like that just because a few butt-hurt fanboys complained, the new Dalek design was scrapped. I don’t see how this is any better than, I don’t know, bringing back David Tennant as the Doctor when Matt leaves. Fans would hate that, so why must they support the ‘Bronze Decision’? :/

July 24th, 2013 - 9:07amim getting quite angry at bbc after reading about other countries getting doctor who stuff first even though the uk is where doctor who belongs. WHY BBC WHY!!!!!

July 24th, 2013 - 9:45amWhy are the bbc putting other contries first I mean we are the ones who actualy pay for the show
lisa
July 24th, 2013 - 10:08amit makes me feel sad that other countries are prioritised first. I do feel a bit let down by the marketing of the 50th (apart from this site) as it seems that there is a certain attitude towards british fans that things are rushed and it all feels a bit last minute. I am also getting really stressed about pre orders as well, being able to order something and then having to wait a couple of years for stock (which is always due in but never arrives), I would rather we were told straight by these companies and the bbc.
The Big Blue Box
July 24th, 2013 - 8:17amWhy is everyone else getting trailers (America and France) and we only get a couple of images? I mean, they are amazing images but ‘Doctor Who’ is British after all!

July 24th, 2013 - 9:48amIts because the bbc want to expand dr who. If they succsesfully sell the show over sea’s they will make lots of money

July 24th, 2013 - 5:58pmIf it helps at all, Americans as a whole are not getting the trailer either. Just the lucky few who went to Comic Con (which, by the way, is not restricted by nationality, just the ability to actually get a ticket in the hour or so after they go on sale) and who managed to squeeze their way in to the Doctor Who panel. Everybody else is just as SOL as you are. Faint consolation, I’m sure.
Matt Smithy
July 24th, 2013 - 9:45pmyea, but it was IN America. Usually, when you decide where to show something, there will be more of that nationality there, so they clearly aimed for Americans. What’s that? No British Comic Con? Then just release it online an hour or so later!
spaceBUZZlite
July 24th, 2013 - 2:15amThe French got an adventure in space and time trailer
The Americans got a trailer for the 50th
And what does Britain get, the place where doctor who was made, the one that pays for who to be on, we get three pictures of daleks……..
Don’t go to overboard BBC…..:(

July 23rd, 2013 - 11:00pmWhy does stevan moffat think its a good idea NOT to include classic doctors I mean come on its the 50th aniversary not the 8th aniversary. They have the cast of an adventure in space and time so why not use them and anyway old doctors should at least make cameos

July 24th, 2013 - 6:00pmHe hasn’t actually explicitly said, and anyway, the Moff Lies. I would say anything is on the table. The only ones who actually *have* expressed an opinion are some of the classic Doctors themselves. The two Bakers in particular have expressed the sentiment that they themselves would be very difficult to bring back as they look so different now.

July 23rd, 2013 - 5:08pmFinally the Daleks come back in a decent way. I got sick of them popping up in the thousands when they are all meant to be dead. Like the Time War never happened. The Asylum was the worst as were the hell did they all come from? Did they all escape through the window when the Time Lords attempted to in The End of Time?
Most people agree it is the real 10th Doctor and Rose and not the meta crisis Doctor.
I like the idea of Elizabeth 1st being John Hurts Doctors companion. I am interested to see if he becomes an actual regeneration between the 8th and 9th Doctor or like the Watcher and Valyard he is some form of projection. His clothes indicate he is an inbetween Doctor. Also seeing him regenerate into the 9th would be cool. With cgi this would not be hard to do even without Ecclestone.

July 23rd, 2013 - 11:57pmBut why kill the remaining bronze, Daleks if only to create an army of more bronze Daleks. LOVE DALEKS SO MUCH but let’s just hope they actually fire their weapons this time and seem menacing, we want to see death, danger and destruction
Dalek: the Supreme
July 24th, 2013 - 5:02amThe actual Dalek mutants were impure, not the travel machines. The New Dalek Paradigm are higher ranking Daleks.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
July 24th, 2013 - 7:35amThe Dalek Asylum existed long before the Time War, only during the classic series, it was completely unknown to us.
Over the years, the Daleks no doubt sent ships containing their damaged and insane Daleks to the Dalek Asylum, and just left them there.
Doctor Stu
July 24th, 2013 - 11:47amThis is what we can tell from previous episodes if we are hardcore fans but Steven Moffat should have written in the script something like the Dalek priminister says “the paradigm travelled the universe, advancing the Dalek race in numbers and power” something like this would of at least helped keep fans up to date rather than letting them assume as to why all of these Daleks have appeared
the astronaut of death
July 23rd, 2013 - 12:24pmI have found a description of the trailer on the internet…
The trailer starts out on a haunting, dark note — Matt Smith is walking in the TARDIS, while in voiceover he says, “I’ve had many faces. Many lives. I don’t admit to all of them. There’s one life I’ve tried very hard to forget.” And we glimpse the Doctor talking to Clara about his greatest secret.
And then — what looks like the Time War, between the Daleks and the Time Lords! Seriously. Daleks blowing up, flames everywhere, everything going to Hell. And in the middle of all the carnage, John Hurt as the non-Doctor, looking resolute. “Great men are forged in fire,” he says. And then something about being the man who lit the flames.
And then, we get Tennant and Smith. Tennant, in his TARDIS, yells “Allons-y,” while Matt Smith, in his, yells “Geronimo!”
Rose pops up and warns that “the moment is coming.” And John Hurt’s non-Doctor says that he is ready for what’s going to happen.
And then: the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors comparing their sonic screwdrivers, as Tennant looks possibly a bit jealous of Smith’s screwdriver. And then a shot of both of them wearing clever glasses, while Smith wears his fez and they look delighted with their cool gear. And then a glimpse of Rose, looking excited.
Oh, and the TARDIS being airlifted down to Trafalgar Square with the Doctor hanging down from it.
Smith is in the TARDIS, when he says, “I remember this. I pretty much remember.” And we see twinkly lights traveling across the Earth.
David Tennant and John Hurt are inside Matt Smith’s TARDIS. “Oh, you’ve redecorated. I don’t like it,” Tennant says, channeling Patrick Troughton in “The Three Doctors.”
A title appears: “This fall, the Doctor will face his darkest day: Himself.”
And we see Zygons, plural. Busting out of a glass case. And then some more shots of Daleks blowing up and being torn apart and generally being Da-wrecked.
Inside the TARDIS, Tennant tells Smith, “For once, I would like to know where I’m going.” Smith responds: “No, you really wouldn’t.”
And then, someone says, “I’m looking for the Doctor.” And the camera pans around to show Hurt, Tennant and Smith, with the two Doctors trying not to look at their unacknowledged predecessor. Tennant shrugs and says, “Well, you’ve certainly come to the right place.”

July 23rd, 2013 - 5:14pmI am really think Moffat made the right choice to do more of a Three Doctor Episode and concentrate of the interplay. The Five Doctors (cough 4) had its charms but trying to give everyone something to do did hurt the plot a lot to the point you could drive a bus through the holes.

July 23rd, 2013 - 10:17amguys where not getting a trailer
here is an article I found
As many of you are already aware, Sunday saw the premiere of the 50th anniversary trailer at Doctor Who’s Comic-Con panel.
Reportedly this trailer was going to appear online, but as yet has failed to materialise. Understandably many fans are disappointed and upset, wondering just what is going on.
The bad news then, the BBC today told the RadioTimes: “This was an exclusive Comic Con trailer made especially for the Doctor Who 50th panel.”
However, it’s not all bad news: “UK fans can look forward to exclusive content over the next few months,” they added.
Granted this isn’t what the fans want to hear as the internet doesn’t like to wait for anything, especially when the trailer sounds so mouth-wateringly incredible.
It would have been nice if the BBC had released for all at the same time, especially for this 50th anniversary year, but that’s just the way it is.
Many will remember that this exact same situation occurred last year when the Series 7 clips were not released. A couple of weeks later a new trailer was released online. So perhaps we won’t have long to wait.
