The Name Of The Doctor Promotional Images

The Name Of The Doctor Promotional Images

With thanks to BBC pictures…

Clara receives a letter summoning her to a mysterious meeting, where she is given a message for the Doctor.

The meaning is uncertain, but when an enemy strikes the Time Lord is left with no choice but to travel to the one place in time and space he should never go – into a deadly trap that threatens to unravel his past, present and future.

Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman star in what promises to be a thrilling climax, with Alex Kingston returning as River Song

I’m thinking his name would have to be something like that, something that we’ve seen over and over but never clicked that it’d actually be his real name. Can’t think what but it’d have to be something clever to make it worth it. Not just some cliche sci-fi sounding thing with a little greek thrown in like Thetatron or Rassle-Googlethon (these names are made entirely off the top of my head and are thus lame, but you get the point)

In the promo image #5 – doesn’t Clara bear a striking resemblance to Rose Tyler…it’s the look of the mouth I think.

In Picture 4, the characters look very pleased with themselves with the Whispermen behind them so maybe the Doctor has got them on their side

I love the way that the Bessie clip has been made to actually look just like a piece of seventies TV. It’s got that slightly blurred, discolored edge to it.

I don’t think I’ve got this excited for an episode since the Eleventh Hour lol. I kind of wish Steven was leaving now in a way. Not because I don’t like him, but because I think this episode would be the most fitting end to his tenure. This is like the final piece of his story which he’s been building for seven years.

I think either clara, or Colin has been super imposed. Also, doesn’t Galifrey look, light! (i think this may be special shot footage and colored original footage combined.

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      May 14th, 2013 - 5:53pm

Why would they need to superimpose Jenna ?.

It’s Colin’s Doctor who’s been superimposed. Either that, or it’s someone dressed in his outfit and blurred slightly so that the face of the individual playing Colin’s Doctor won’t show that it’s obviously not Colin, so that way you feel it’s really Colin’s Doctor walking past Clara in the corridor, or an echo of him from the past at least.

    • drjakeyoung

      May 14th, 2013 - 6:56pm

because they might superimpose here into a colin baker episode? like her and bessie?

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      May 14th, 2013 - 8:10pm

Oh, well in that case, yes, but they wouldn’t need to superimpose her if she is seen in a modern Tardis corrior, they just need to either impose footage of the 6th Doctor behind her in the corridor, or to make it more easy, just have some guy dressed up in the 6th Doctor outfit and have him walk behind Jenna in the corridor.

It’s Gallifrey. Gallifreyan is the name of the Doctor’s Species, and most likely, the name of the Time Lord’s language that we don’t actually hear cos they always spoke English, possibly because it allowed the Doctor’s companions who did come to Gallifrey [such as Leela] to understand what they was saying by having the Tardis translate for her [despite River Song claiming the Tardis does not translate Gallifreyan text but surely it must when they spoke].

Either that or they really where speaking English.

      May 14th, 2013 - 5:48pm

I know it was gallifrey, I was joking because it looks like the Lake District. I prefer the one from the tennant era

    • Benjee10

      May 14th, 2013 - 6:46pm

Looks to be the same CG model, just with a few tweaks. It’s no different to Tennant’s version, just a different angle and lighting I think. Admittedly it doesn’t look like the best CGI, but neither did lots of the CG shots we saw stills of for Hide, and they turned out to like fine in motion. So maybe when it’s fully animated it’ll look better.

Obviously it’s not actually colin, but apparently there’s a we see flash back to journey to the centre of the tardis, so it’s probably then where we see the past leaking even more (6th doctor and clara)

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      May 14th, 2013 - 4:57pm

It’s clearly not Colin Baker himself since his not exactly fit these days shall we say.

      It’s either –

      A) A bit of footage of him as the 6th Doctor taken from one of his stories that has been incorporated into the shot behind Jenna.

      or

      B) A guy dressed in Colin’s 6th Doctor outfit [complete with wig resembling Colin’s 80’s style hairstyle, or the guy dressed as the 6th Doctor has the same style of hair as Colin did back then] who just has to walk past Jenna in the corridor, but blurred just to hide the fact that it’s not Colin’s face, but you know it’s his Doctor none the less who in this case is an Echo from the past rather then the real 6th Doctor himself, like when the Doctor and Clara encountered echoe’s of themselves from the start of ‘Journey to the centre of the Tardis’.

Fantastic to see Gallifrey again. I guess we might see a baby version of the Doctor, followed perhaps by a child version of him, along with child versions of the Master and the Rani perhaps, and possibly still, the Meddling Monk, like how we saw child versions of Kirk and Spock in J.J. Abrams 2009 Star Trek film.

As for the 6th Doctor, that’s either a piece of footage of Colin digitally placed behind Clara in the footage and made to look like he is really walking past her, or it’s a man wearing Colin’s outfit and possibly a wig [or it could just be the guys real hair] and all we will see is him walking past Clara while looking slightly blurred so only the appearance of the 6th Doctor is seen but not his face, and maybe some 6th Doctor dialogue will be heard during this moment.
