Poll – What Did You Think of Demons Of The Punjab?
Now that the sixth episode of series 11 has aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
India, 1947. The Doctor and her friends arrive in the Punjab, as the country is being torn apart. While Yaz attempts to discover her grandmother’s hidden history, the Doctor discovers demons haunting the land. Who are they and what do they want?

November 13th, 2018 - 8:06pmI must admit some of you lot on here are hilarious, ADAM, Dalek Eye Stalk, Lorraine, The Moffat Paradox, The Prydonian, T.A and a number of Anonymous posters on here have made me LOL, which is a good thing.
Laughing at the shows predicament is a good way of letting off steam, let’s face it if we didn’t laugh we might cry!
For all those that are loving this series….good for you, I am somewhat envious and I will leave it at that.
As the Fifth Doctor used to say, brave heart Tegan > (insert own name here)

It would probably amount to the same amount of drivel that we’ve been given so far, specially if Chibnall decided to pen the “story” himself. It’s getting painful to watch all over again.

November 13th, 2018 - 4:41pmThis might seem like an unpopular opinion on here but iv just rewatched Demons of the Punjab and I loved it even more than before. So much better than last week, which i still don’t know if I thought it was ok or hated it. It is everything that the show was conceived for. Mr Newman would be proud. But although I am loving this series, and I really am LOVING it, it is crying out for a bug eyed monster.
Again this is my opinion and not meant to start a riot, but I think Jodie has been great and is only getting better. The 2 new writers that we have had this series have given us some of the best historical episodes since the sixties.
I genuinely believe that Chris Chibnall has run the show very well indeed. He has made some decisions that can’t have been easy to make and for the most part they have worked. Put simply, he is a much better Showrunner than he is writer. Maybe Doctor Who should go back having an executive producer that just produces like JNT in the eighties.
Finally, although I am really starting to love the companions (i do think they are setting up for a tragedy somewhere here and I think there has been a sad story woven in from the very beginning for Yaz) i think that Ryan is my favorite of the lot. He asks all the obvious questions that I would ask. And “baggsie not Chicken pooh!” Brilliant
9/10 Best of the series yet. Roll on next week

November 13th, 2018 - 2:01pmSo Chibnall says no Christmas story because he cannot think of a plot. May I suggest he writes about a scriptwriter with one successful show who is offered a prime, much loved sci-fi series to head-up. A BBC demon (well known for making those without talent take on projects) is planted inside him and orders him to take the job; it will be fine it says, you will be excellent it says. So excellent in fact that you can hand-pick the actors no matter how lacking in ability they might be. How about the woman who lost her son in your successful show….um whatshername says the demon. Chibnall also picks Bradley Walsh as he loves the Chase – fortunately this bit works- the BBC demon had popped out for a cup of tea. On and on the demon continues thus; Don’t worry about the TARDIS as you can have some trips abroad instead. Chibnall’s conscience is pushing to the fore and eventually he realises he has no talent for this type of show and the BBC demon leaves to find its next victim. Now the demon has been overcome Chibnall is left sobbing knowing at last that he should never have taken this wonderful, iconic programme on in the first place. He begs for a second chance and low and behold before him appears Russell T or in fact pretty much anyone else who came before. Chibnall thinks of this amazing new story and leaves Doctor Who alone to thrive in capable hands. A wonderful Christmas story. Perhaps we can slip a Dalek in somewhere.

November 13th, 2018 - 10:01amBring back Moffat’s timey wimey nonsense. It’s not perfect but at least it kept you watching, plus more importantly had more incident and drama. Where are all the new villains Chibnall? This lightweight Doctor has only had lightweight opposition. It’s ridicoulus! Where are the great villains like Davros, Daleks, Cybermen, the Master, Sontarans, Ice Warriors etc. Hey, even the Borad, Quarks, Nimon, robotic cleaners etc are better worthy adversaries for the Doctor, than the poorly realised, or weak villains we get now! The essence of Doctor Who has been changed far too much by Chibnall. It’s actually become a completely different show, and one that has a limited future.

Just seems like any adventure show,that’s shown on,Netflix or amazon.
Certainly not sci-fi and doctor who.
Jodie’s not bad,but bradley walsh,would have been a better doctor.
Oh well,back to my classic’s.

November 12th, 2018 - 10:00pmIt’s a mess isn’t it..really. I’m actually not convinced it’s entertainment let alone Dr Who. I remember JW doing that video about critics and saying oh well you’ve not seen me yet how can you not like me…seen it now and I don’t think she is right for the part. I can only think back to Paradise Towers and a few shows like that to express similar feelings but at least McCoy tried to be the Doctor.

November 12th, 2018 - 8:17pmVery slightly better but no more than 5. Nani has a far more Indian accent in old age than she did as a girl and after years in Sheffield but that is nit picking. As most of us are saying, this just isn’t Who, just some Sunday night filler. Jodie just grates and the companions are poor apart from Bradley. Not every writer can tackle sci-fi and certainly none of this series has hit the spot. Beautiful scenery but I would prefer a decent Who story. I don’t know how you bottle and serve the Doctor Who magic but I wish they would find the recipe because someone at the BBC must have it. Certainly not Chibnall that’s for sure. It is all such a terrible shame.

November 12th, 2018 - 6:52pmSo far shaping up to be the weakest season of Doctor Who since Season 24 (1987). But even that series felt more like Doctor Who than it does now. Seriously, if this is the future of Doctor Who, it only has a limited future and is nearer it’s end. Chibnall really needs to knuckle down and buck up his ideas for Series 12!

November 12th, 2018 - 6:44pmDefinitely better than the previous 5 episode’s, then again it could not have been worse could it?
Had a rewatch and as I expected it isn’t as good as my initial post claims it was.
Ryan is a portrayed and acted baldly, Jodie isn’t showing any signs of vast improvement, but Bradley Walsh is carrying this series on his own without doing a great deal.
Emotionally it was a good episode as was the visual filmmaking.
I would say that last night I was happy that we’d had such an improvement on this dreadful series 11, I was clearly unable to give a real subjective view on this episode.
It is still a decent episode but because of a rewatch I will now give this one 5/10 rather than my initial reactive 7/10.
All in all this is a poor series and with just 4 episode’s to go it doesn’t bode well, a lightweight Doctor, very poor writing and showrunnig is dragging this show down.
The BBC are more than capable of giving us some of the best drama in the world, The Night Manager, Line Of Duty, The Bodyguard and last nights The Little Drummer Girl show what fantastic drama the BBC are capable of!
Throughout my life the BBC have given us a large amount of excellent drama, so why oh why can’t they put such efforts into the longest science fiction/drama?
It is beyond me! What a shame they have let this once great flagship show sink so low!

Later i watched the wonderful Dynasties series with David Attenborough..where there was more “on the edge of your seat” drama than anything i’ve seen in this new Who series. And at the center of it all was the mighty charismatic David. What a great Doctor he’d make…

November 12th, 2018 - 3:29pmReally struggling to be bothered with it now..it’s no longer Doctor Who..it’s been dumbed down (or up whichever way you look at things) so much since the return that I don’t care if it stopped for good now..So glad I grew up in the Baker/Davison/Baker years when it was creepy,fun and just plain entertaining & you didn’t feel like every episode was hammering home pc agenda after pc agenda..if the BBC had any sense they’d just re-run the original series on a Saturday evening like they do with Dad’s Army #disappointing

November 12th, 2018 - 12:26pmHmmmm…better than last weeks episode, which wasn’t difficult was it, but still not quite hitting it’s stride. Again, too many long periods of tedium. You can tell this by how often you are glancing at your phone. However, the overall story was alright. Visually it all looked stunning, and the acting on the whole was very good. Slightly less face pulling from Jodie this time round as well which was welcome. Certainly it was a story to evoke a emotional response from it’s audience, and this was as effective as the ‘Rosa’ episode. It some ways it scores higher than the ‘Rosa’ episode, in that the actions of what seem like alien villains are better drawn and more defined by a sensible back story. ‘Demons of the Punjab’ is a good story, but not amazing. 7/10 Still waiting for a classic story in this run Mr Chibnall. So far it’s shaping up to be the weakest series since 2005.

Which is ironic with amount they must have spent on taking the entire cast on location.
But by far the greatest crime this season is the fact that Bradley Walsh is not the Doctor.

November 12th, 2018 - 9:48amIt’s so jarring when a scene’s going so well and then Ryan opens his mouth, why oh why did Chibnall think he was the right man for the job, his tone is the same in every scene, his inflections are in the wrong place on each word, he’s just dull, dull, dull and makes an otherwise good episode un-rewatchable because I hate every line of dialogue he has. I thought Bill was a new low for acting quality but Ryan is just something else, if he dies this series it’ll have no emotional impact on me I’ll just be glad he’s out of the way. He makes Anakin Skywalkers performance look Oscar worthy
