September 28th, 2014 - 1:21amAgain, not a great episode. Clara – good. Concept – fair. Script – boring. The Doctor – poor.

September 28th, 2014 - 1:11amThe caretaker for me was the best episode so far this series,it felt like a tennant era episode.the series so far has been brilliant I just understand all the negative comments .I’d love to know exactly what people wanna see because really it’s been a strong series so far

September 27th, 2014 - 10:55pmAAAAAGH! What a fantastic episode. I’ve still got a buzz from it (I’m writing this from 9:30 – My Internet’s very slow).
Yes there wasn’t much monster dilema but what there was of it was just fantastic. Heaven again with the added Chris Addison (story arcs are forming in my head)
I’m glad so many people enjoyed this one as they haven’t for previous episodes (except Listen)
I’m just so happy about it. Moffat, Roberts, my heartiest congratulations. You two should do more together!

September 27th, 2014 - 10:47pmThis is the wonderful thing about DW…I personally thought this episode was “OK” at best…which is fine, I would be silly to expect to love every episode. Its nice to see that others really enjoyed this episode…it shows SM’s wide appeal…there is something for everyone.

September 27th, 2014 - 10:45pmI cant believe where half way through the series already!
Amateur Collector
September 27th, 2014 - 10:44pmI thought Time Heist was okay, but most of this episode was pants. Listen was atrocious so ‘The Caretaker’ wasn’t the worst of the series so far, but Doctor Who is supposed to be an adventure programme that is exciting for children and adults and both ‘Listen’ and ‘The Caretaker’ were jaw-droppingly dull, dull, dull. If I wanted to watch a relationship unfold I would tune in to a different programme. Most viewers are not readers of this website and so don’t care about the minutiae of the series they, especially children I guess, want excitement that makes them think a bit,not a soap opera with some rubbishy robot thing that was about as threatening as a womble! Please can Clara shut up or at least talk in a way that resembles how people do talk and react.
Best thing was the reference to ‘The Gemini Man’ (the watch).
Sid Rat
September 27th, 2014 - 11:48pmYes I agree, this was a dull episode. Of course some people will have loved it, some hated it (hello) and some in between, but at the moment I can’t see him as the doctor. Had a debate this evening with a couple of fellow whovians (who also are not enjoying the 12th doctor), the subject of which was based around was the sixth doctor better than the 12th doctor! We all seemed to have a mutual yearning for a regeneration. Really hope rumours of Clara leaving are not true.
Ian
September 28th, 2014 - 9:00amIf Clara would just shut up maybe the Doctor could develop – but we all know that’s never gonna happen.

September 27th, 2014 - 10:25pmOooooh we’re beginning to see more of The Nethersphere. Really enjoyed the episode. Who else noticed Ollie from the Thick of It.
DaveyUS
September 30th, 2014 - 9:10pmYes, I noticed Ollie (or Toby from In The Loop). It would really play to Capaldi’s strength if they made a character for Jamie and have the two of them go at it.
Cyber10Dalek
September 27th, 2014 - 10:21pmIn my personal opinion the episode was ok but could have been better. The moments with Danny and The Doctor clashing with Clara in the middle were hillarious and i did like how many of the supporting characters were portrayed,i favored Courtney in particular, plus the Skovox looked and sounded awesome. However,it all felt a bit tightly squeezed in to the 45 minute time limit the episode was restricted too and the Skovox didn’t feel as threatening a foe as i hoped it would, however it’s final appearance was fantastic! Overall a decent episode, but next week’s Kill The Moon looks terrifying(especially for anyone terrified of spiders.)I am intrigued by the return of the Promised land in this episode, especially since the policeman and other guy that are there seem to be in a building of some kind. And is anyone else wondering what the policeman saw out the window? Please reply and give your theories on Missy and the Promised land.
100,000BC
September 27th, 2014 - 10:14pmJust a small thought, but if Clara was named after Elisabeth Sladen, maybe Courtney (who seems to be just as much a recurring character as Danny) was named after Nicholas Courtney…?

September 27th, 2014 - 10:08pmI do not see why Moffat thinks we want kids in Doctor Who. Still I think Clara and Danny are a much more appealing couple than Amy and Rory. I enjoyed this episode alot.

RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 27th, 2014 - 9:42pmBorinng.
The whole Clara thing went on for 25 mins until the Blitzer turned up for two minutes. I didn’t find the whole Danny and Doctor thing ‘electric’, and quite frankly the whole clara thing is unoriginal.
had lots of bits that were unnecessary, should’ve been more action, best part was the last five minuted.
next week looks good, but will try not to get excited
StetsonDoctor
September 27th, 2014 - 9:42pm7&8 sound excellent. I really hope they’re not let downs, like this story. Finger crossed, although I’m not really worried. Episodes 1-5 were great…

September 27th, 2014 - 9:38pmIs it me or is the running thame around Chalk this season?. give me ur apinion. And Danny Pink I think he’s a UNIT soldier undercover in the school keeping a eye on Clara? It was a good epiosde.

September 27th, 2014 - 9:59pmI thought it was eating
Deep breath- whisky

This episode was complete tosh. Can anyone wipe the master tape???

September 28th, 2014 - 9:15amwhy would they do that for an episode the vast majority of people enjoyed
Ian
September 28th, 2014 - 9:17amDefine vast majority.
This really was complete rubbish.
Another episode of Clara guest starring the Doctor.
booboo
September 28th, 2014 - 9:22amI dont have to define anything, its right above you, you only have to look at the poll
Ian
September 28th, 2014 - 9:26amI think what people expect from a Dr Who story is changing. The Doctor as the main star is fading into the past.
When humans prove to be as intelligent as the Doctor then something is wrong.
Lets wait and see what the rest of the season brings. Maybe the next episode will have a plot.
Dalek The Supreme
September 29th, 2014 - 1:28pmOverall, I’m not impressed with this series so far. I can think of only two outstanding episodes (Deep Breath and Into the Dalek), but Robot of Sherwood, despite being incredibly funny, has terrible logic, Listen made Steven Moffat lose his place as my favorite Doctor Who writer, Time Heist was good up until they brought back the two characters we saw die and pulled the same, forced “monster-just-wants-to-find-its-lover” plot twist as Hide, only it was even MORE forced, and The Caretaker made the Twelfth Doctor even more unbearable than he’s been so far this season, gave us a completely nonthreatening monster, and the only upside was Clara developing. Also, we’re halfway through the series, and the central story arc has only been brought up three times, and the Doctor’s main character arc was shown twice, but forgotten by the third episode. Gone are the days, it seems, of Series 5, where every episode was leading into the finale. Please don’t think I’m only saying this because Matt Smith was my favorite, because I’m not. I was genuinely looking forward to Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. I just hate how he’s been written. I think Steven Moffat needs to step down and let someone else take over as head-writer next series.
the astronaut of death
September 29th, 2014 - 3:45pmthe people who have negative opinions say there opinion like a fact
any way this was a good epsiode good monster good plot good doctor
the poll speaks for it self
so im afraid more people will diagree

September 27th, 2014 - 9:32pmI wonder what the guy in the suit and the police officer who died at the beginning saw out the window…
Cyber10Dalek
September 27th, 2014 - 10:35pmIKR.What do you think he saw?I think he either saw the majority of the Promised Land/Nethersphere as a planet or maybe something else, like all the characters who have died so far in this season.Or perhaps something more sinister…
Dalek Supreme
September 27th, 2014 - 9:29pmQuite enjoyable, new third place. Only really 2 specific problems and 1 kinda general one.
1: The robot thing (Can’t remember the fancy name) looked pretty badass, but the way it moved around made it look very cheap and bit rubbish.
2: The Doctor said he didn’t have enough time? HE’S GOT A DAMN TIME MACHINE! He has all the tome he needs to make the zappy doodad.
General problem: Danny Pink is still a drearily bland character. His ONLY purpose is argument device and bland generic love interest. His Soldier backstory tries to give him depth, but it’s all mystery and no explanation, bearing in mind we’re half way in (I know, so many average episodes!)
But, generally enjoyable. Not quite as good as Time Heist, so 3rd overall I’d say.
1st-Time Heist (All round quite good, if somewhat overcomplicated)
2nd-Into the Dalek (Not enough world building, too much in 1 episode)
3rd-The Caretaker (See above)
4th-Listen (A mish-mash of previous ideas, all done better previously)
5th-Robot of Sherwood (Funny, but swaps humour for plot)
6h-Deep Breath (OH GOD IT DRAGS ON AND ON BUT NOTHING HAPPENS)
DoctorPlatypus
September 27th, 2014 - 9:35pmMeh. I wouldn’t quite agree with you on your favourite episodes list, but your opinion is interesting. Overall, I think Series 8 so far has been a great run of episodes, much better than Series 7. But, I think it is about to get more interesting with Kill the Moon, Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline, In the Forest of the Night, Dark Water and Death in Heaven. What do you think?

September 27th, 2014 - 9:40pmin answer to 1, Scovox Blitzer (which frankly sounds like a wartime bomber)
in answer to 2, he would be crossing his own timeline which is very dangerous
lastly, front flip makes danny awesome by default

September 27th, 2014 - 9:47pmAbout the time travel thing, he can do it without crossing his timeline. Just go away somewhere, then come back not even 10 seconds after he left! There problem solved, or is that too easy?
I’m certainly interested in the rest of the episodes, and I am hoping this promise land thing pays off for a good finale.
