What Did You Think of Journey / Centre of the Tardis?

Doctor Who Journey to the Centre of the Tardis

The Tardis is captured by a spaceship salvage team, sending its systems into meltdown.

As the Doctor introduces himself to the motley crew of galactic rag-and-bone men, he realises Clara is still trapped within his malfunctioning ship, so he persuades his new acquaintances to help find his companion, taking them deep into the heart of his beloved blue box.

But their hopes of a straightforward rescue are dashed when it turns out Clara is not the only one down there. Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman star, with Ashley Walters (Inside Men).

Now that the 5th episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

Yeah, I’m sick of the moaners, they make the rest of us Doctor Who fan’s look like the worst kind of Sci-Fi fan you can come across.

Yes I did notice his cot, it’s not hard to see.

I think the Doctor, or maybe the Tardis herself, sorted out having the Swimming Pool and the Library separated from each other. Maybe the 10th Doctor’s regeneration somehow caused rooms to merge, and those 2 rooms merged by accident, but they’re separate rooms now so that’s fine.

Then Again, my opinion might be biased; I do find her some-what attractive. 😀

Why does everyone hate Clara? I think shes great; She actually seems intelligent, instead of just ‘Stereotype Feisty’ *cough* *cough* Amy Pond *cough* *cough*

While I can see your opinion, and I respect it, I have to disagree. I think the Doctor is being portrayed brilliantly at the moment. You really get a sense of age, and there is a sense of vulnerability perfectly balanced with an air of Alien-esque wonder. Even then there Matt Smith adds another atribute to the lot- he is a bad-ass. Even with some Childish reactions, when the Doctor is Angry, monsters run.
But yeah, I do see your point, even though I don’t agree 🙂

Ok just had a quick look at the ending on BBC IPlayer, FINE, HE DID GIVE HER A BIT OF A SMACK ON THE BUTT WITH THE CLOTH.

BIG DEAL !!. At least it was with a Cloth rather then using one of his hand’s, otherwise then it would have been inappropriate.

And in fairness to the guy saying that I don’t pay enough attention, my eyes where focused on the TV screen entirely, it’s just that our eyes don’t notice every single detail first time around that’s all, cos it take time for our brains to process what we are seeing through our eyes if you did not already know that.

Yeah saw that – I don’t think he would do such a thing. The Doctor respects his female companion’s, he wouldn’t do anything that would be considered inappropriate behavior like giving Clara a smack on the bottom.

  • Yeah saw that

    April 29th, 2013 - 11:21am

Yeah I saw that, it was near the end of the episode and as he walks behind Clara, he cheekily whips her butt. Doctor Who One, you’re not paying enough attention.

It was ok but wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for. Ever since I saw the newly regenerated 5th Doctor unravel the 4th Doctor’s scarf and use it as a way not to get lost in the Tardis, when he still hadn’t settled in his new body. I have always wanted to see an episode where he explores parts of the Tardis that he never dared go in case he never found his way back. As it is supposedly infinite.

The reason they were burnt and dead was because they were the result of what would happen if they all stayed in the room with the eye of harmony hence the Doctor saying ‘after a couple of minutes, the skin will start to melt’ its all Wibbly wobbly timey wimey

The issue I have with Doctor Who, at the moment, is either Matt Smith or the way the actor has been told to portray The Doctor. Drama is substituted with dim-witted Jar Jar Binks-esque reactions, and any hope of weight and gravity in dialogue is ruined by Matt Smith(or The Doctor) sounding like a 12 year old stamping his or her feet. Not for me, I’m afraid.

I watched this just then I notice The Doctor smacks Clara’s butt with a cloth or rag anyone else saw that?

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    April 28th, 2013 - 7:03pm

I mean Clara never saw the book, not Amy.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    April 28th, 2013 - 7:02pm

The only reason why Martha, her family, the Doctor and Jack remember the Master rule in what became known as ‘the year that never was’ is only remembered by them because they where inside the Valiant when time was reversed back to the day the Master’s rule over Earth began, so to anyone who watched the introduction of the Tochlafane anywhere in the world, all they saw was President Winter’s getting killed and that was it.

As for Amy remembering killing Kovarian, I’m not sure, that finale of series 6 confused the hell out of me.

Time was altered in yesterdays episode when the Doctor gave that button to the recent version of himself at the start of the episode, so the events of the episode suddenly never happened, meaning Amy never saw that book with his name inside, as she never went to the Library once the events where avoided.

I hate stories that get resolved by pushing the reset button, in this case literally!

But, wouldn’t Clara still remember his name? Amy remembers killing Kovarian , Martha and Jack remember the rule of the Master and the Toclafane.

It’s technically part of Series 7 because it was in between 7a and 7b, and I just didn’t personally like it very much. Great production values but the story left me cold (if you’ll pardon the pun).

So many stories this series have been destroyed by poorly constructed endings. Power of Three had a fantastic build up but then a ridiculously easy ending (the Doctor waved the sonic around for a bit and everything went back to normal).

I liked Akhaten because it had a simple story, a decent resolution, fantastic visual effects and monsters, and some amazing music from Murray Gold. My only gripe is that the ‘villains’ did very little to make themselves feel threatening, but other than that it was well constructed, with good plotting and an ending that actually made sense.
