What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

The Doctorโ€™s search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London, where wifi is everywhere. Humanity lives in a wifi soup.

But something dangerous is lurking in the signals, picking off minds and imprisoning them.

As Clara becomes the target of this insidious menace, the Doctor races to save her and the world from an ancient enemy.

Now that the 1st episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

This was a pretty awesome episode, it wasn’t flawless but it was still good

Not a bad episode – I enjoyed the dialogue between Clara and the Doctor and the in jokes – the “Doctor Who?” joke was taken even further and I thought the TARDIS at Earls Court reference was fun…both were pretty much breaking the 4th wall. But the plot was nothing special…in fact it was almost a cross between The Idiots Lantern and Partners in Crime. 7/10.

By the way, did any one else notice Jenna Louise Coleman’s northern accent come through when she said the word “jump” in the final scene? ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t understand how the Doctor knew to go to the shard since when she discovered where they were he wasn’t there and she was uploaded by the time he was. The next scene you see is him heading for the shard. How dd he know ?

There is a reason for that. The Great Intelligence said they were old enemies. I think The Wire is back.

Maybe the daleks removed all her memories and replaced them with a new scenario or story, which Is that she crashed, personally I don’t want this to happen as I want a companion going and living a normal life, with a chance of return. Since the shows revival only one companion has lives a normal life, which is Martha:
    Rose-different universe
    Donna-memory wiped
    Amy and Rory-weeping angel

It seemed a bit like a much better remake and improvement but very different at the same time!

I felt that the christmas special was over-complicated but this episode was brilliant, tying up all loose ends. ๐Ÿ™‚

But remember, it was the outside phone that rang, not the inside phone. In 1×09 ‘The Empty Child’, the outside phone rings, and Nine says ‘Well, if you know so much, tell me this. How can it be ringing? It’s not even a real phone. It’s not connected.’ How did Clara get through to an unconnected phone?

Half way through I deducted it was the GI that was behind it and actually I think it is a good move on Moffat to add a main antagonist. I only hope that he’ll do it a little more subtle than with the cracks, let a few episodes without the GI. If he can pull it off like with the tenth and martha jones where you had a vaguer hints and nudges towards the Master than we could see some very interesting episodes.

    great episode
a few things i noticed are that in her 101 places to see the age of 23 was missing.
amelia williams wrote the book that the boy was reading
near the start when he was choosing what to wear he threw away the old tweed coat!

Hardly fair. JLC is a very capable and strong actor and has lifted the show just by bieng involved with it. Plus her capabilities have allowed for an instantly likeable character. Best companion since Donna.

I really enjoyed the episode. I agree the resolution was a bit quick, but it had the bike up the shard for the kids, a nice spooky concept, and an awesome new Tardis. And Matt Smith makes me smile. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

not really, as its not. we learn more about her and who she is (and really it is based on river’s story), but we have already been introduced to her and desided if we love or hate the character. we are always learning new thngs about his companions, and series 6 just happened to have us learn who she is ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Sigh…

    March 31st, 2013 - 5:31am

Matt Smith was brilliant as always but Jenna-Louise Coleman makes me wonder if I can stomach any future episodes if she will be in them. I know that it is always hard to get into a new traveling companion but her acting is akin to fingernails on a chalkboard. Thus the dilemma, as I know she has a contract to continue to try and look like an actor for the rest of this season. To watch or not to watch. Sigh….

Faces in the tv? A little to much like the Wire in “The Idiots Lantern” series 2!

It was good, the ending was slightly rushed though, otherwise, I think it was a great episode with interesting story arcs being set up. And Matt Smith as the Doctor… do I even need to explain how brilliant he is? I give it 8/10.

Did anyone else notice that in Clara’s book she crossed out every age from 9 to 24, but missed out 23. Also, she missed the number 3 from the wi-fi password making it rycbar124. Coincidence?

i do not know what to say about this episode it was not as i expected i expected it to be action packed although it was. to be honest i just think that this episode was not up to much and i hope that all the new episodes are not like this and i would of loved to see more of the villains ( the great inteligence and spoon heads)
