What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

The Doctorโ€™s search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London, where wifi is everywhere. Humanity lives in a wifi soup.

But something dangerous is lurking in the signals, picking off minds and imprisoning them.

As Clara becomes the target of this insidious menace, the Doctor races to save her and the world from an ancient enemy.

Now that the 1st episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

Have you noticed that Steven Moffat stories are always the ones that get better with multiple viewings. Watching the second time and more you get to appreciate the quality of the writing, the sly nods and clues, the shear beauty of the story structure and the nuances of the great acting by all the actors involved particularly the leads. Doctor Who is a total pleasure to watch on so many levels.

The Epiosde was Fantastic and Epic. A Best bit from it was when the Doctor used the Antigrav Motorbike and drove up the Shard! It reminded me of The Idiots Lantern as it had faces (Well head and shoulders) in the TV’s. I think that The Great Intelligence could be the New Wire.

    9/10

Now Clara has died a number of times – do you think it reminds you of anyone?
Captain Jack for instance? Could she be a face of beau race ??

  • RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND

the motorbike was the only action there was! Plus Pond ran away on her wedding night, so it has happened before. But suppose she is a nanny so I’ll respect your point.

    Amy! Amy! Amy! Amy!

Anyone see that she wrote that book, Summer Falls? It said that it was written by Amelia Williams! Wow!

Also, I think the Woman in the shop has to be River. It might seem obvious, but, ya know. Or maybe it could be the Doctor’s mother, from the end of time? But I think she won’t be coming back to be honest…

    Who was that woman…

Everyones saying that it was a copy of idiots lantern (which I agree with, what with trapped people and moterbikes) but I think its more of a copy of partners in crime, which is the reason I think the woman in the shop was rose.

This may only be a theory, but I may have understood what the leaf meant.

Doctor Who began on the 23rd November, right?

November is Autumn time, and the leaf is probably from the Autumn. Plus Clara says that it is Chapter 1: The beginning of Doctor Who!! ๐Ÿ˜†

Yh she probably just said that though…

Also note that the anniversary is on the 23rd.

  • MasterKasterborous

    March 31st, 2013 - 11:59pm

Why didn’t she just randomly go off with a man to explore time and space without a moment’s thought? People might want to sort some things out say some goodbyes and the like. It makes the character seem more real.

No action? He rode a motorbike through London and up the Shard!

Plus Simeon wasn’t in it. His face was used by the Great Intelligence after The Snowmen but we are yet to find out any more it yet. Well we’ve been waiting 45 years and we still don’t really have a clue what it is…

I think ‘the women in the shop’ is river song, also did any one spot that the book the young lad was reading ‘summer falls’ was written by Amila Williams AKA amy pond????

  • MasterKasterborous

    March 31st, 2013 - 11:54pm

I thought it worked quite well and created a sense of a new start. Also it follows nicely on from the prequel.

  • RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND

i think she should come back as… i just think she should!

  • wut

    March 31st, 2013 - 10:03pm

She’s not coming back. There’s been no reference from anyone involved with the show since that episode about whether she would come back apart from when somebody randomly asked Matt Smith it at the 2010 Comic-Con. I think the fact is that Moffat doesn’t want her back so she won’t be back.

  • KayNine

    March 31st, 2013 - 8:28pm

Just a thought, but could the ‘Women in the shop’ be the Doctors Daughter? Sure we will see her again at some point in timey wimey. I first thought about River Song, but I reckon that would be too obvious.

Go easy lads and lasses, first time poster N’arrl that ๐Ÿ™‚
