What Did You Think of The Day of the Doctor?
What Did You Think of The Day of the Doctor?
The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special.
In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

November 24th, 2013 - 9:16pmOut of sheer curiosity, could John Hurt’s “war doctor” be in dire danger of becoming a “war lord” as seen in “The War Games” had he gone ahead and destroyed Gallifrey?
Tracey dershem!

November 24th, 2013 - 7:37pmSo who can name all the doctors
karen deslauriers
November 24th, 2013 - 7:36pmFor the series to continue with more doctors past Matt Smith, he will need to regenerate. Since they only get 12 regenerations plus their original body for a total of 13 , the series can’t go to much further…. In one of the shows with the characters Emily Pond , Roary and River Song,,, River gives the rest of her regenerations to the doctor to save his life ( I figure about 9 left)……River is Emily and Roary’s daughter conceived in the Tardis… The Tardis added Time Lord DNA into her at conception, which makes it possible for her to regenerate. TADA more Doctors to continue the series another 25 to 30 years.

November 24th, 2013 - 7:26pmA special with too many Doctors can be quite crowded, especially if you want a other characters and a story as well!!!
Also, it’s the Doctor’s own time stream; surely he just left because he knew the way out!!!

November 24th, 2013 - 7:21pmThe End of time, from the 10th Doctor’s perspective, has to take place after Day because he regenerates at the end! From the Time Lords’ perspective, End takes place during Day, as according to a Time Lord, “The Doctor has the moment”, implying that he has taken it but not saved the day (both of which he does during this episode).

November 24th, 2013 - 7:15pmThe End of Time seems to be set during the events of the Day of the Doctor from the Time Lords’ perspective, as a Time Lord during End says “The Doctor has the moment.” Therefore, logically, it takes place between when JH and ‘Rose’ leave Gallifrey and when the Doctors turn up and save the day.

November 24th, 2013 - 7:07pmMost likely psychic summons of some sort.

November 24th, 2013 - 7:05pmThat was before it was ‘destroyed’.

November 24th, 2013 - 6:59pmjust hope this years Christmas episode is as good as last years as it is one of my all time favorites, brilliant story and music score to match,FANTASTIC!!!but I think matching david tenants departure will be a tall order.it has to be a good regeneration as I think paul mcgann was still short changed and john hurts was for no reason and didn’t show the 9th docs face.

November 24th, 2013 - 6:52pmI am confused, how come Matt Smith’s Dr. didn’t know that Gallifrey was frozen in time rather than destroyed when it reappeared just before David Tennants regeneration?

November 24th, 2013 - 6:45pmYou are kidding – the end of time were without doubt the worst DW I’ve seen in 35 years. They had so much promise but utterly failed to deliver. The whole Master race sub plot was embarrassing – no wonder DT was so keen to take part in the 50th after the awful send off he got.

November 24th, 2013 - 6:30pmenjoyed it but didn’t live up to the end of time 2 episodes.russell t davies should have wrote this one,the privelige of bringing it back in 2005,his writing outshines moffets.why when tenant hears its been bad wolf doing things he doesn’t make more of it,also why is the 11th doc now 1200yrs old,in the fantastic trailer of all 11 docs he says 900yrs!!sadly wasn’t as good as I hoped as I hoped to hear more of murray gold older themes which were missing.bit confusing about 4th doc/tom baker but great to see him.

November 24th, 2013 - 6:26pmI assumed that the Time Lords would grant the Doctor more lives as he ‘froze’ them and fixed the Time War. Either that or because the 13 lives rule is implemented by the Time Lords (i.e. they could live past 13 but the Time Lords terminated life after then) the Doctor will just continue until the Time Lords catch him (or not as they’re in their little bubble – like a painting)

November 24th, 2013 - 6:24pm1) They got back to Earth through the TARDIS, it was in the background when Hurt was revealed I thought – either way it was something wibbly wobbly timey wimey that we don’t need to concern ourselves with
2)The moment thought Rose was a past companion, as she ‘always’ gets past and future mixed up.
3)He bangs on about them cos he’s obviously upset, the End of Time occurs after this, and Rassilon threatened Earth, as did the Daleks etc (if Rassilon swapped Earth for Gallifrey then Earth would be getting attacked by Daleks)
4) The Doctors all forgot about it afterwards (we know this ‘cos Tennant and Hurt forget about it)
5) Moffat wanted a big reveal, which was the inclusion of a new Doctor (not a made up one, because the War Doctor is canon, yet you could argue that all the Doctor’s are ‘made up’
6)They couldn’t use all the Doctor’s as cameo, as then the episode would have just been the Doctor talking to random old characters that bear resemblance to his past selves.
Hope that cleared stuff up

November 24th, 2013 - 6:17pmHave you watched the prequel for the show? You see McGann regenerate into John Hurt 🙂 And then at the end of ‘DotD’ we see Hurt regenerate into Eccleston (though we don’t see Eccleston’s face) I also dont have a clue what you meant about living ‘past’ Matt Smith for 9 more Doctors..
who rules
November 24th, 2013 - 6:17pmthey didn’t need to “escape” trenzalore. the dr and clara could just step out of his time stream and then they and the pasternoster gang would just pop in his tardis and off they go. still, might have been nice to see them do that!
The 13th Doctor
November 24th, 2013 - 6:16pmFuture Doctor revisiting an old face
who rules
November 24th, 2013 - 6:15pmno, the rassilon sequences could take place before the doctors removed gallifrey as both end and day take place on the last day of the time war. err, i think! best not to worry about it really!
The 13th Doctor
November 24th, 2013 - 6:14pmMaybe 10 and 11 dealt with them before saving Gallifrey?
The 13th Doctor
November 24th, 2013 - 6:10pmMaybe a psycic message which then wiped itself when the job was done?
jon
November 24th, 2013 - 6:07pmhe was the the 4th doctor no 11 says i never forget a face and listen to what they say cryptic clues in them very sentences a curator would have no knolowlegde of galafrey its safe to asume the fourth doctor went back to see as he said i could be you or maybe im you gives it away

November 24th, 2013 - 6:00pmLoved it….one question though. The whole “I’ve been thinking about this all my lives”. How? How were the other incarnations summoned to the battle and would they also not remember….?
