What did You Think of The Eaters Of Light ?
Now that the Tenth episode of series 10 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
A long time ago, the ninth legion of the Roman army vanished into the mists of Scotland. Bill has a theory about what happened, and the Doctor has a time machine.
But when they arrive in ancient Aberdeenshire, what they find is a far greater threat than any army. In a cairn, on a hillside, is a doorway leading to the end of the world…

June 18th, 2017 - 4:35pmIt was OK I’ve watched it twice now and I am going to miss Capaldi’s Doctor the potential he could have had under a different showrunner is of course left to the imagination.
The last few minutes in the TARDIS was interesting for sure, I look forward to next week with some trepidation, been here before with built up excitement only to be left totally deflated afterwards season nines final the prime example, after Heaven Sent which was superb and everything that followed the week after had me wondering if I could really continue watching? I have obviously, with light at the end of the tunnel after Moffat confirmed he was to step down.
This season including this episode has not been a classic in any way but it has improved on the last few seasons, but Simm’s Master is back next week and I can’t wait to see him.

June 18th, 2017 - 4:31pmI agree they should’ve given Missy more screen time. I’m glad she’s finally unleashed in the last 2 episodes.
Weeping Angel
June 18th, 2017 - 3:18pmI didnt particually like it either, probably one that i will forget about in a few weeks. I thought thin ice was really bad. Basically The Beast Below without the best part: The Smilers
1994
June 18th, 2017 - 1:33pmThat was…challenging.
The Living Shadow
June 18th, 2017 - 12:06pmEnjoyed this one very much, nothing groundbreaking, but it didn’t need to be!
Random Critic
June 18th, 2017 - 11:27amFrom the number of times I checked a clock while watching this, this was a fairly throw away episode compared to many others from previous weeks that had more interesting characters.
The locals here got preached to a bunch of times by the Doctor, and when it wasn’t too dark to see anything, nothing really interesting was happening anyway.
I preferred it when the Doctor didn’t care; for someone as old as him, it made some sense. This current superiority complex and grandstanding from him and his companions is just so tiresome. Almost as if anyone that isn’t a member of the TARDIS club is automatically painted as being “primitive” in some way.
Missy doing TARDIS maintenance, or pretty much anything, sounds like an interesting idea. Why not give her more screen time?
The Outcast
June 18th, 2017 - 11:15amI hope we find out who it is on the 1st of July (2nd for me tho) in the episode ‘The Doctor Falls’. Be nice for the BBC to finally leave the announcement of the next actor till the Regeneration happens in the show, then publicise the hell out of it. Hey, they can even include the Regeneration clip.
The Outcast
June 18th, 2017 - 11:10amThe only episode I don’t like is episode 8 because it didn’t tie in well with the other parts. I think that one was a 4/10 for me.
The Outcast
June 18th, 2017 - 11:09amOh yeah, I didn’t realise Mondas (nearly said Moffat) was in this story. How on Earth will that work? So many questions, hopefully a lot of answers.
The Outcast
June 18th, 2017 - 11:07amMines probably Heaven Sent, tho I can’t be certain.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 18th, 2017 - 10:55amAnd, following that, Chibnall’s reboot of course. Good luck to him and whoever has been chosen as the next Doctor.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 18th, 2017 - 10:53amWow, you were pretty close with your 2.8 million estimate then. That is indeed very low for Doctor Who. Well, as you said, lowest ever overnight rating. I really hope these last 3 episodes (2-part finale and Christmas) get more viewers.

June 18th, 2017 - 10:32amOvernight figures are in…and it’s a landmark of sorts for Doctor Who. It’s the lowest overnight rating for Doctor Who EVER! 2.89 million. The sunny weather was clearly a factor. But I’ve always felt Doctor Who should be on when the evenings are dark. I wouldn’t mind there being no Doctor Who next year, and launching the ‘brand new’ Chibnall version of Doctor Who in January 2019.

June 18th, 2017 - 9:39amNever got on with the 12th. Doctor at all, but this current series I’m actually starting to warm to him & on the whole this Season 10 has had some cracking stories going on. How unfortunate that this all end’s at Christmas.

June 18th, 2017 - 8:36amFor me, I thought this was a very good episode, enjoyable stories and the characters (bar one) all allowed the story to pass through them and be part of the greater whole.
The bar one is Nardole… Insufferable and terribly acted. Every scene is mindless clutter and noise, and totally detracting to the piece. No excuses for it, and I just stop paying attention when that blight is on… URRGGH !!
It just seems that Moffat is intent on horrible companions …. and a shame, especially in this series. I was very dubious on the introduction mini-ep for Bill, but, pleased to say, I was wrong on my initial impressions, so why waste time on Nardole/Lucas… If the series needs a counter balance to the Doctor, surely they could have done better… ?
To end on a positive, a good story, that would be suitable for most Doctor’s to have been in.

June 18th, 2017 - 12:25amI could imagine the 4th Doctor, Sarah and Harry could have been in ‘The Eaters of Light’. It’s certainly one of those stories that any number of Doctor/Companion team ups could have been featured. It’s a story suitable from any era.

June 18th, 2017 - 12:20amMy favourite of the modern series is Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways. But that is partly because the 9th Doctor is my favourite Doctor since the shows reboot, it’s certainly the best finale for any of the 21st Century Doctors, and it’s such a brilliantly written and acted adventure.

When The Doctor Was Me
June 17th, 2017 - 10:14pmGood but nothing amazed me. But still a nice filler for the series and a decent down time episode before the finale. 5/10
Doctor no more
June 17th, 2017 - 9:54pmUtter tripe. Very boring and never got going. On that note let’s just hope there’s something pulled out of the bag next week with the brilliant John simm back which I am looking forward to.

June 17th, 2017 - 9:51pm@Anonymous I think its terribly smug to simply say ‘you’re wrong’ everybody has there own opinion. I’m sure yours is not definitive.

June 17th, 2017 - 9:33pmI don’t hate it, I just found it uninteresting and not very entertaining at all – which is the opposite of what an episode should be. The only bit I really enjoyed watching was the Missy scene at the end and the next time trailer.

June 17th, 2017 - 8:55pmI hope it wasn’t Clara. Her coming back again or even mentioned again, is worse than reoccurring burps.

June 17th, 2017 - 8:40pmAm I the only one wondering what the crows/ravens were saying at the end>>>>was it Cara or CLARA ?????
