June 4th, 2017 - 3:28pmWhy is it, every episode I’ve enjoyed this series, everyone seems to hate, and the ones I hate everyone seems to love! I thought last nights episode was great
Whorules
June 4th, 2017 - 4:36pmAgree, great episode. Also people are complaining it was obvious missy was in the vault, I guarantee if it hadn’t been missy people would have complained about that as well.I can’t wait for chibnall to be in charge and see how long it takes for the moffat-bashers to start demanded chibnall be replaced because he’s the worst thing that has happened to who since the last worst thing. Me, I love moffat’s era, it featured my favourite doctor and companion and I’m 47 so have watched since robot. Previous favourite doctor – Troughton, companion – Sarah Jane. Not saying who my new favourites are as I can’t be bothered with all the nasty comments that will follow…
DannyTheNerd
June 4th, 2017 - 6:19pmMoffats era is great. As are all the eras ive seen in Doctor Who. Except the Hartnell era. Thats tripe
Tim M
June 4th, 2017 - 7:56pmBut ‘Whorules’, Missy WAS the most obvious person to be in the Vault by some considerable margin. Had it been anyone else, John Simm’s Master, Rassilon, the Valeyard…even the Doctor himself! Any one of those would have been a brilliant reveal and truly unexpected. But the Doctor might as well have said Missy was in the Vault in ‘ The Pilot’.
Whorules
June 4th, 2017 - 8:19pmTim m, that was my point, it didn’t matter that it was obvious, whoever was in the vault fans would complain either way. Yes it was obvious, but it rather begs the question of what is moffat keeping secret?
The Outcast
June 5th, 2017 - 5:59amThe Hartnell era is not tripe. Without the Hartnell era, there would not be a show today. I personally have found this era to be my less favourite, with my least favourite companion (Clara I’m-A-Plot-Device Oswald) and my least favourite story arcs (Hell Bent, Name of the Doctor). While I’m happy with this Series so far, I can’t wait for Chibbers to take over.
Tim M
June 4th, 2017 - 12:10pmI didn’t like the way the Doctor seemed so callous against Bill. That was unlike the Doctor and out of character. Bill actually shooting the Doctor was out of character. I think she just would have felt broken and defeated. Missy getting all emotional was out of character. The Master/Missy is a cold hearted villain. All the main characters, although acted well, were not written well.
Tim M
June 4th, 2017 - 12:14pmAlso, what was the point of the vault. As most of us presumed it would be Missy anyway…it was too obvious. So not only did this 3 parter of sorts NOT have a satisfactory pay off at the end…neither did the ‘what is in the vault’ story arc. These are of course only my opinions, but I’m sure many share them.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 4th, 2017 - 12:28pmYeah, Bill shooting the Doctor did seem out of character. Doesn’t bug me massively though. But, excluding the fake regeneration scene, when was he callous against Bill? I actually quite like this side of Missy and her character development here, though just like Davros in The Witch’s Familiar, I think she’s faking it. As for the vault, I suspect that story arc is unfinished.
I’m more concerned with the weak resolution to the episode and the missed potential which the episode had so much of and, my my opinion, did not fulfil.
Overall, a slightly disappointing finale to the Monk trilogy.
The Outcast
June 5th, 2017 - 6:02amThe remorse stuff is probably an act.
Spamella
June 4th, 2017 - 12:01pmI thought that this espiode was excellent and the doctor was on top form, it was good to see Missy inside the vault for she looked like that she shows much remorse over the deaths of people that she has killed over the years
Jordan Scott
June 4th, 2017 - 11:47amEnjoyed while I was watching it, but looking back the three parter was a bit flat overall. I just hope that the finale is outstanding, and if it’s any less than that I’ll be disappointed.

June 4th, 2017 - 11:46amThis is gettin a lot bad reviews, but I absolutely loved it!! It’s one of my favourite Series 10 eps definitely!! I loved the whole oppressed feeling and the music, I literally had chills! If this was the series finale, it would be the most I’ve enjoyed a finale in years!! Brilliant piece of Doctor Who, all this is my OPINION of course!
D0CT0R WH0
June 4th, 2017 - 3:23pmI agree. A very enjoyable episode.
Techruyc
June 4th, 2017 - 11:04amYea, quite flat after all the build up. I don’t understand why this took 3 episodes. I hope this is season 10’s lowest point and it continues to be as good as the earlier episodes of the season. Ew and the false regeneration, which really turned out to be nothing more than ‘click bait’ for the season 10 trailer.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
June 4th, 2017 - 11:04amThis was such a copy of Orwell’s 1984! I still enjoyed it though
But they put themselves in a corner, as surely the monks would’ve seen this coming…
I still don’t know why they wanted to enslave anyone either, did they say?
doctor no more
June 4th, 2017 - 10:58ampart 3 like parts 1&2 very boring, only bit i enjoyed and felt part of Dr who was when the Dr and bill were talking to Missy and the galifrey theme was playing apart from that theres slight hope next week as it looks OK-possibly!
Tim M
June 4th, 2017 - 7:50pmNext week looks like normal service resumed. A great series back on form. I will try and forget the last three episodes, which were a miss step in my view. Started well, but didn’t live up to expectations. But that’s typical Moffat as show runner. He had more successful stories during the RTD era than as show runner.
Random Critic
June 4th, 2017 - 10:49amIn previous episodes, they’ve shown how technologically-advanced the monks are, and what they are capable of, even going as far as
somehow restoring the Doctor’s sight. We now have this episode that rests entirely on holes in the monk brain-washing. This is something
the monks would have perfected yonks ago, given its importance in ruling over populations. But here, time and time again, simple plot
convenience controls when and where this brain washing gets applied.
At least the episode was good for a few laughs, mostly in disbelief.
The family getting raided at the beginning was hilarious. The super-advanced monks using a militarized “Memory Police” force to kick down doors and seize people, with no evidence, in broad daylight. Lol! To maintain the pretense, would they not have a more covert way of doing things? The super-advanced monks then puts such people into labor camps for 10 years, instead of just using deeper brainwashing. Are these monks even trying? To top it off, it appears that no-one has collected the bins for at least a couple of weeks. Terrible.
What was the point of that monk visiting the ship holding the Doctor? It served absolutely no purpose at all other than to tell us the
super-advanced monks are now very stupid. Mr monk walks on, looks at Bill and Nardole, who are strangely not on any watch-list, and then
walks off. Totally pointless.
They really were flogging the bones of a long dead horse with this monk thing, and I still don’t know what the monks actually want.
It was rather pathetic to see them just run away with the slightest bit of resistance. On all the other worlds they supposedly rule over,
for some reason, do they seriously have no experience of dealing with resistance? What about all those simulations they ran using all
that advanced technology? Nope. The ep is almost over, so we’ll have them just run away. OK then!
I suspect that this episode was really part of a cunning plan to sell monk merchandise. In the coming months, I’m sure we’ll start to
see framed monk portraits pop up in the oddest of places. Although there are likely very few locations in which those particular portraits
won’t look odd.

June 4th, 2017 - 11:36amHow long did that take to write!?
Pats86
June 4th, 2017 - 1:31pmIt doesn’t matter how long it took to write, all valid points and I for one fully agree.
The Outcast
June 5th, 2017 - 6:04amI think I agree with this as well.
Doctor Stu
June 4th, 2017 - 10:11amDid the monks even have any dialogue. I hate Steve on Moffatt for doing yet another fake regeneration scene. If regeneration energy is so sparse and so important why is he able to control and waste half of it by pretending he’s gong to die. They were only able to defeat the monks because Missy had had a previous encounter with them before that was unseen and conveniently had all the information they needed, that was a flop, that’s the only reason Missy is here. They relied too much on the statues to give us an idea of the oppression the Monks were causing rather than actually showing us the monks in action. I’d have much rather the Doctor dragged simulation bill over and used her to fix the problem then whatever the hell happened yesterday. I probably need to rewatch to make sense of it all.
The Outcast
June 4th, 2017 - 12:55pmI think it was fake regeneration energy.

June 4th, 2017 - 2:53pmYeh but where do you get fake regeneration energy from
The Outcast
June 5th, 2017 - 6:05amA plot device hidden beneath his clothes?
100,000BC
June 4th, 2017 - 12:17amNot sure that I was too keen on the whole regeneration scene, it felt a bit wasted and we could have seen more of the monks’ oppression and dominance over humanity instead?
The rest was brilliant though. Lovely ending.
pats86
June 3rd, 2017 - 11:47pmOh dear oh dear, how much more can Moffat drag this once great show down? He might not have wrote the whole episode but his influence is certainly there! Very poor, not as poor as Hell Bent but not far off.
Moffat has been around 5 seasons too long and I am desperate for him to go.
This episode was dreadful, I am scared of what the rest of the season and the Christmas special has in store for us!
I feel so sorry for Capaldi, a brilliant Doctor but with dire scripts from a dire showrunner.
The Surgeon
June 4th, 2017 - 9:07amI don’t think this was Moffat’s fault at all. He only played a part in the first two parts and they were excellent. I think the Moffat-influenced parts of this were the best bits.
Stop that TARDIS
June 4th, 2017 - 11:06amI completely agree! He has an effect, every episode he’s helped has been ruint for me
Pats86
June 4th, 2017 - 1:33pmOff course it’s Moffat’s fault! He’s the showrunner.

June 3rd, 2017 - 11:20pmI can’t decide if I liked this one or not. Though it felt good at the time, on reflection, I dunno, felt a little underwhelming. Three part stories are hard to pull off. I really enjoyed Extremis and the Pyramid at the End of the World, while fillerish, was on the whole good but not sure what went wrong here.

June 3rd, 2017 - 10:55pmOh dear, what happened here? The episode felt like 10 minutes had gone by & not in a good way!

June 3rd, 2017 - 10:29pmOverall i enjoyed this episode and the whole truth arc!!
However I though they could have used new footage of the cybermen and daleks against the monks!!
Also the regeneration was a bit of a cop out!!!
Despite that I have enjoyed series 10 altogether and give it 8.5/10
My favourite new who series followed by series 4
Doctor Stu
June 4th, 2017 - 1:07amIt wasn’t really worth blowing up another Dalek or cyberman for just a couple of seconds of footage though
r1ch1e
June 3rd, 2017 - 10:26pmI reckon that Vault could actually be Missy’s TARDIS! It is certainly Time Lord in origin being smaller on the outside. I just remember Michelle Gomez’s little video when she was painting the TARDIS (or She seemed to be at least) and she said she would be “coming out of here soon”!
She is definitely playing the Doctor though
catnip
June 3rd, 2017 - 10:29pmI remember the video you mention, but what do u mean “She is definitely playing the Doctor though”?
r1ch1e
June 3rd, 2017 - 10:40pmSorry I mean she is playing him up! The Master has never regretted anything. I think it’s just a ploy to escape the Vault. Even if she thinks she can escape so easily. I just think there is much more to her story this series than meets the eye!

June 3rd, 2017 - 10:08pmI actually enjoyed Casualty more. Was very disappointed. The Vault was underwhelming, the plot was a load of twaddle. A nice, if extremely brief guest appearance by Daleks (Into the Dalek clip), Cybermen (Nightmare in Silver clip) and Weeping Angels (Blink clip). Cannot wait until the reign of Moffat is over.
And for the first time this series, for me, poor acting from the whole cast. Felt as though i was watching a very droll ameteur dramatics play.
The Pilot 6/10.
Smile 8/10.
Thin Ice 8/10.
Knock Knock 5/10.
Oxygen 6.5/10.
Extremis 7.10.
The Pyramid at the End of the World 8/10.
The Lie of the Land 2.5/10.
pats86
June 3rd, 2017 - 11:51pm2.5? That’s very generous of you, I agree with wanting Moffat’s reign is over
The Dalek Whovian
June 3rd, 2017 - 9:32pmThis episode starts with such an interesting concept, The Doctor as the VILLAIN of the story. Think of all the character aspects we could see. And now he’s REGENERATING, the marketing made a big deal out of this surely this will lead to something big…
Then it all turned out to be an act. What a wasted opportunity.
Rest of the episode on the other…. eh. The Monks plan defeat was disappointing. They have been planning presumably for ages and in great detail, So surely they would have a backup plan rather than just disappear? I’m I a bit disappointed to be honest, this three part story had so much potential to tell a good story.

The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 3rd, 2017 - 9:04pmI’ve actually decided to adjust my scores for series 10 slightly because I think how an episode does or does not stick in your mind is a contributing factor as to how good or bad it is.
So far in series 10…
The Pilot: 8/10
Smile: 6.5/10
Thin Ice: 8/10
Knock Knock: 6.5/10
Oxygen: 7/10
Extremis: 9/10
The Pyramid at the End of the World: 8/10
The Lie of the Land: 7/10
Average score so far: 7.5/10

June 3rd, 2017 - 8:33pmI thought it was quite good, better ending as well then some episodes
Matt Parker
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:32pmA bit if a mish mash of an episode. Great acting and with some truly awesome scenes and great visuals ( the statues across the world was a great image) but one of the best scenes in Doctor Who let down by a comedy type end, Nardole was truly annoying to watch in this one, and two of the big reveals …who’s in the vault? Oh, it really is Missy after all….and the regeneration we’ve seen for weeks….wasn’t! I actually feel this episode would have benefitted another 45 minutes, then it might have been something amazing……anyhoo, we’re finally at the episodes we’ve all been waiting for!
Tim M
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:31pmOh dear. What a boring finale to this 3 parter of sorts. This must rank amongst the most tedious of 3 part stories. Even ‘Dragonfire’ is better, and it’s my least favourite McCoy. The Monks were more effective in ‘Extremis’. Since then we have seen less and less of them, and less and less effective. Didn’t really see the point of this story at all. A low point, in an otherwise great series. A great shame.
12th Doctor Fan
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:33pmNot a great one, predicted Missy.
Alex Davis
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:38pmBoring and predictable. Monks weren’t effective and the fake regeneration and Missy were predictable.
Tim M
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:46pmIf this had been any other series I was watching tonight, I would have changed channels, or even switched off after 10 minutes. But, because it’s Doctor Who, and it’s my favourite tv series, I’m loyal. General viewers I’m sure would have not preserved with this story, and wouldn’t be so forgiving and loyal.
The Dalek Whovian
June 3rd, 2017 - 9:34pmKane’s defeat was much more satisfying than the Monks

June 3rd, 2017 - 8:30pmA great episode. My favourite in the series. I didn’t like the last 2 episodes in the monk trilogy but this final part written by Toby Whitehouse was brilliant. It was very action packed and tence throughout. Bill shooting the doctor, the trick regeneration and missys appearance was my best highlights. Here’s my updated episode verdicts.
The Pilot: 8/10
Smile: 4/10
Thin Ice: 7/10
Knock Knock: 5/10
Oxygen: 6/10
Extremis: 3/10
The pyramid at the end of the world: 5/10

TP: 4.9

E: 4.7
TPATEOTW: 4.9
TLOTL: 2.6

June 3rd, 2017 - 8:30pmI didn’t really like that. Felt rather obscure on the whole, even by doctor who standards. Nothing actually surprised me, I knew the doctor wouldn’t regenerate. I wish he did, just so something could actually shake up the boring and repetitive narratives a bit.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:27pmNot bad, but also not great. Some parts were pretty good but the resolution was certainly weak.
therealwhovian63
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:25pmCant wait for the next ep and then ep 11 and 12. Ep 10 looks a bit disappointing
The Surgeon
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:30pmI think episode 10 looks great. As a classic Who fan, it is wonderful seeing a classic writer return. But as much as I adore the Ice Warriors and I’m delighted to see the return of their sonic guns, next episode looks pretty atrocious from what I’ve seen so far
therealwhovian63
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:39pmDont get me wrong im a massive classic who fan. Pertwees my fave doctor out of all but im excited for them episodes i listed as they have classic villainss in. What would you rather a classic writer or classic villains. Capaldis my fave new who and pertwees my fave classic who. Both tied 1st
therealwhovian63
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:43pmLooking back, ive watched more cclassic than new. The classics are easyer to rewatch because they still have you on the edge of your seat although you know what will happen
The Surgeon
June 3rd, 2017 - 9:17pmWith the exception of the monsters that have already returned (Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians, Zygons, Ice Warriors, Autons etc.) I would rather have classic writers back. Also, Pertwee and Capaldi are my top two Doctors as well. How quaint
The Surgeon
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:25pmNot too great. Fairly poor script and provided unwanted memories of Clara’s leaf
therealwhovian63
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:26pmHow. Was her leaf in it. Did i miss it
The Surgeon
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:29pmNo, I just thought that the whole resolution – including the Doctor not being the right person so the companion did it instead – was identical to The Rings of Akhaten. This was better than that episode though
therealwhovian63
June 3rd, 2017 - 8:39pmI thought you ment that but i just wanted to check
