There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes! 😀

Yes, it’a funny in afterthought. I’m just happy it was actually a good regeneration and not another case of “I don’t wanna go”.

The line about the kidneys was disappointingly predictable and silly. The only other thing I didn’t like both in this and the 50th anniversary episode is the lack of funky Time Lord Weaponry. The Doctor is fine blowing up enemies all over the place but stands defending Christmas in both siege and open war against all his enemies without a single serious weapon?

It was anti climactic and had a claustrophobic atmosphere to it(The Dr. just forgets earth and disappears for 300 years? I wonder what happened to UNIT).All in all Im happy with the changes S Moffat made. Im glad the worst of RT Davies’ideas were rolled back. It was a good to bring back Gallifrey and I loved John Hurt in the Day of The Doctor. Capaldi is a throwback Doctor, he seems like one of the originals. I cant wait for the new episodes.

The show should NOT specially cater to America as it is a British show, so if anything it should cater to us Brits, just like most American shows cater to America
to say otherwise is a little selfish really

    @The Moffat Paradox
I too like Star Trek as well as Doctor Who (but greatly prefer Doctor Who)
We all have our own opinions, but Doctor Who is clearly “bigger” as it started before the beginning of, and continues to run well after the end of, all T.V series’ of Star Trek and holds far more records and icons then Star Trek…
AND the Borg (the best Star Trek villains) ripped off the Cybermen
    😉

The current TARDIS is perhaps THE best design yet, and far better than the 2010 one, Matts’ ‘new’ look was amazing and his last words were brilliant!
But I do agree about season splitting being awful

I thought they were brilliant and touching; as you could tell they came from the bottom of not just The Doctors’ heart(s) but Matts’ too and that he really meant it
If I cried at emotional things like this, I probably would have cried here
    😉 :'(

Apologies, I’d forgot it was the Teselecta – Thank you for clearing that up for me. As for rewriting the events of ‘Name of the Doctor’, if there was no time wound in the ‘tomb’ version of the TARDIS then how did Clara go back to the Asylum and meet the Doctor? Why would he go looking for someone he hadn’t met? I’m still not convinced on that one… Any further thoughts would be appreciated 🙂

I did!!! 🙂 Shame there weren’t any silurians. I was expecting a pandorica opens style monster invasion. However it would be too much to cram in what is already there. The Sontarans were absolutely rubbish in it, Moffat turned them into jokes. The cybermen, and the slients were really awesome. The angels were terrifying. And the Daleks were just the same old boring Daleks that Moffat has actually decided to make them a big part of the story.

I know they will probably or rather most likely get a new one. Matthew Graham (No: Fear Her, Yes: The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People), Tom MacRae (Yes: Rise Of The Cybermen/Age Of Steel and The Girl Who Waited) and Chris Chibnall (Ok: 42, Yes: The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood and Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, No: The Power Of Three), Chris managed Torchwood and Broadchurch, Matt managed Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes, all three are good and capable writers. One writes opener and other writes finale and all bits in between and swap it around a bit the next year or something like that.

Russell Finales: Bigger and better each year, it had to be in his mind.
Steven Finales: The universe is falling apart and times collapsing. Roll on series 8.

Mark Gatiss, not too keen. He’ll just cast himself as the Doctor, he really wants to be the Doctor?

McGann is the Doctor are you saying Moffat was a fan in primary school or me? And Anonymous, I stated he ruined the 50th anniversary like it was a fact to me. I know some people enjoyed it and I understand that. Normally, I’d say I just didn’t like it and have done with it, not to upset anyone else. But other people don’t care, loads hate River and I don’t see or understand why (well I do a bit), but they say that fans who like her are stupid and should be killed, now that’s just plain nasty, I don’t say people who like 50th should die, because 1. It’s their opinion and 2. Everyone dies some day, even Captain Jack Harkness or rather, the Face Of Boe. Yes, we all like Doctor Who, I agree, let’s just talk about the bits we love from the show, that’s the whole reason we’re on here. To share our views and opinions and remember the times in which made us love such a once great show or still great show in some minds.

It would be awesome! They should do that thing where you take an object to a famous landmark and take a picture of it! There would be kids(and adults) carrying Cyber heads all around the world!

Well said. I think we would all benefit from a second viewing, it might change a few people’s opinion on the episode.

No the War Doctor’s were “I hope the ears are a bit less conspicuous this time” as an in-joke to the fact that the next Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, had rather large ears.
As for the Sixth Doctor, well, nobody knows… The “Carrot Juice” line was at the end of Trial of a Time Lord, but he regenerated at the beginning of Time and the Rani. Time seems to have passed between the two stories as he must have dropped off future Mel and collected past Mel, and the events of Terror of the Vervoids would then have taken place. There are also a lot of Big Finish adventures (of which, at least some are now established canon) in between the two stories.

If anything, the show should be written intelligently and the writers should pour emotion into every script. It doesn’t matter who they cater to, as long as the stories are solid, in my opinion.

JJ, You stated he ruined the 50th Anniversary like it was fact. My whole family enjoyed that one when we first saw it, even my sister, who isn’t so keen on the New Series.
McGann is the Doctor, that’s their opinion. They hate Steven Moffat and most of the changes that came with him. Personally, I enjoy his writing and the changes he brought in Series 5, including the so-called “Fat-leks”.
The point is, we have different opinions on different eras, but we’re all fans of the same show, so we shouldn’t be telling each other which era or Doctor or Dalek to love or hate.

Actually, the Fifth Doctor’s last word was “Adric?” and the War Doctor’s last words were “I hope he is a bit more inconspicuous this time!”

  • Dalek the Supreme

    December 27th, 2013 - 8:11pm

Don’t judge the new Doctor by his first lines, he’s always a bit loopy after regenerating. Sometimes he’s crazy, suffers periods of unconciousness or odd food cravings, violent, or simply excited about his new body.

Just re-watched the episode again and enjoyed it much more than the initial viewing. That’s the great thing about Moffat scripted episodes there is always much more to see and hear than on first viewing. The writing was sharp, clever and witty. The production values remain extremely high. The actors, writers & crew are at the top of their game.

I just thought he could of had a better story like Tennants but yes I do appreciate the irony that the ‘youngest’ Doctor died of old age and it was an alright episode
