No it isn’t any different to the 2nd Doctor’s recorder, and I know Capaldi can play guitar. It’s that it jars a little with me simply a personal view. I’m not unhappy with the series as I’ve seen many changes I started watching it when I was 5yrs old in ’67. Seeing some of them on the Horror channel is slightly painful to watch in some terms and I find it difficult to believe it scared me way back then. However, it did and I love it for it, just that now some of are “grown up”, lol we find it easy to be disgruntled over things. Ask any adult to associate certain things with each particular Doctor, the answer will come up “recorder”, “yellow car” “sonic” or “celery”, etc and with Capaldi it will be the guitar. I applaud the changes all round. My view is no more than a simple “tutting” noise when something appears to irk me, as you say it’s only “human nature” to do so, nothing wrong with that.

Well the plane is technically his plane and when he was talking to the children and hanging round the parks he was undercover 😀

It felt like it was written for a Matt Smith story. Capaldi was all giddy, talking to children, getting excited about a plane, hanging round parks and everything.

I would of thought he use his sonic sunglasses to summon the TARDIS like he did in The Witches Familiar

Well said both whorules and Anonymous! Couldn’t agree more

The first plane was a zygon duplicate? Now there’s a thought… Seems like something Moffat might throw in as a gag or something!

I thought Boat 1 (as in the jet) was destoyed in the series 8 finale. Please do honestly correct me if I’m wrong…

A very interesting episode and somewhat appropriate to fit in with currant affairs. It was a great follow up to the events in the Day of the Doctor. You just can’t tell who’s a Zygon. I hope next week’s conclusion is as interesting and exciting.

    1) Under the Lake
    2) Before the Flood
    3) The Zygon Invasion
    4) The Magician’s Apprentice
    5) The Witch’s Familiar
    6) The Woman Who Lived
    7) The Girl Who Died

This is very wishful thinking but does anyone else want them to somehow bring back jac next week or even in a future series ( I would say Kate too, but it seems pretty envitable she’ll survive)

Am I the only one who prefers the old UNIT and the red berets and they had their own music but now they just seem boring

If i had a choice to watch pre 2010 or post 2010… it would be pre.
Not at all enjoying the Capaldi doctor stories, yes he’s a good actor but
he’s got nothing to play with, can’t any writer go back to the roots of doctor who?
Big Finish have been turning out way better stories than whats on TV, so how come
    nothing is as good?

@whorules – I couldn’t agree more…I grew up with Classic Who too and although I loved it at the time, I think post 2010 has been the strongest the show has ever been. The 2005-2010 period was good but no where near as strong as it is now. It’s not perfect (which long running show is?) but there are far less imperfections than any other era. The difference is…its just easier to complain now….also human nature and British culture play a part. People who are unhappy are far more likely to rant and leave comments than people who are happy (who tend to score in the poles and if they do leave a comment, its typically short and sweet). This creates the impression that more people are unhappy than is reality…its a case of the vocal minority (they even start believing they are the majority).

capaldi can play the guitar and is it any different to the 2nd doctor and the recorder?
i have to say i don’t get the criticisms of this series or any of the moffat series i think who is better than ever under moffat’s tenure. (oh and my earliest memories of who are the green death – i was three)

I am tired now of seeing the guitar in some of the stories. Time to put it somewhere deep within the TARDIS along with the shades and left there to gather aeons of time dust please.

    November 1st, 2015 - 8:30pm

good premise but didn’t deliver, best thing about this episode was the clip from day of the doctor, and the ending for the upteenth time we think the doctors dead again, hope he regenerates this time, why would you fly about in a jet when you have the tardis ! and I bet hes a zygon

  • the eternal doctor

    November 1st, 2015 - 8:17pm

but we already know the doctor will survive as if he died there would be no more doctor who and it would be more like tardis and clara.
although he could regenerate, but peter capaldi wont regenerate this early, he is a massive doctor who fan.

Or the Doctor will summon the TARDIS as he did before at the end of the last series. Surely they wouldn’t use that again though ?

I knew Clara wasn’t Clara as soon as she left the flat. I enjoyed this episode that much it should be a series finale story instead of mid season and in my opinion this was the best episode in Capaldi’s era

Of course I meant – too quickly.

  • Olga

    November 1st, 2015 - 5:07pm

    AND
    d) she was too emotionless. She acted as if she just met the Doctor and didn’t know him at all,
    AND
    e) she moved to quickly. One moment she was in the apartment and the next one with the Doctor.
I think there are even more points to be considered but the idea as such was really interesting. I can’t wait for the next episode.

My prediction was that in the finale we will see Davros standing tall dressed as a time lord. This was my thought after first 2 episodes and the hybrid talk and was stoked further by reading something in an article in dwm a few months back.

I reckon it’s going to link back to the series opener somehow and the hybrids there.

How could they do a next time trailer, it wouldn’t be a cliffhanger if you saw that the Dr and Osgood are in next weeks episode. The whole point of the cliffhanger is to leave you wondering if they survive and to make sure you watch next week.

I also saw that little cameo. I have a feeling Steven has a hand in that brief piece of historical acknowledgement
