sorry, agree with redtop. Torchwood was original Brit sci-fi, with a good dose of quirky Welsh humour & familiar locations, not this Americanised season offered up on Thursday. Wish all involved the best but if it continues in similar style Torchwood ended for me with Children Of Earth.

I agree with the negative sentiments expressed about Torchwood Miracle day. The US influence has completely spoiled the show. I like others watched the next episode in the vain hope that it will get better! What are the people watching who like it? Out of the last episode’s 50 minutes or so less than 5 minutes were British based! Sad!
The original was much better. The only good thing is the music in 5.1 Digital Sound. Says it all. neill.

Jack Harkness finally has a chance of his lifetime, to die. 😯 He should take it, even though his planet is in so much toruble, he should think of it as an oppurtunity to not exist forever, IMO.

The Ist episode was good. I hope the film crew didn’t cram all the good bits into one episode.

As for DW. It is good, but I find it hard to follow the storylines. Back in the Tom Baker days, it was a lot easier to take in. Maybe the show could go back to the old four episodes per story.

Yeah, that’s a smart idea. They shd consider it. It would be more, um, resourceful for the studio and production making use of the sets.

Each story wd be like, over an hour long, but only 25 inutes per week. Intresting way to make it. πŸ˜‰

      no it shouldn’t
th lack of stories will just show a lack of imagination from the writers
it will get boring and also annoying to have to keep remembering something that happened 3 weeks ago-plus children won’t be able to follow it
it will be less stories just the same one forever
it won’t be able to keep up with the high pace of 21st century TV
i like the old episodes but the formats won’t work now

maybe it would if they did it in the peter davison format, with two episodes airing per week, like saturday and sunday or friday and sunday.

Nothing really – just found it a little incomprehensible at times compared to previous series, and that took the shine off it for me…

Whereas CJH and friends came back with a bang and an intriguing story…

      Perhaps it’s just me πŸ˜‰

I would like to know if there will be any episodes of Torchwood in which the Doctor appears…………I think the crosslinking of stories and events is brilliant. Like now for instance….are there any references (in this series) to the earlier Dalek invasion of Earth by Gwen or any of the new team…….will they get to meet the Doctor??

It was good to see the team back since soon this will be the only spin off running but it just failed last night as it was so unrealistic with the helicopter over Gwen’s house scene

I completely agree…it seemed full of “bluster for blusters” sake. It laked the cutting dialogue of the 1st 2 seasons and apears to have left behind its original premis for the sake of becoming just another planet saving organisation πŸ™

      July 15th, 2011 - 3:02pm

Well, the writers like this new premise for the show and it is better, more realistic than catching an alien every WEEK, plus the helicopter scene happened, no green screen, so how can you say it is unrealistic ?

Interesting but not sure of the continuity in places. A helicopter sent to kill them and the ensuing chase, gun battle and rocket launcher, all the time seeming to forget that no-one could die. What happpened to the crew of the helicopter if they couldn’t die ?

Hate is not the word I would have used but it simply doesnt live up to the hype. When the closing credits rolled I was left feeling flat and unexcited by it and thinking “Oh was that it ?”

It was a good show for what it was but its left its roots so far behind that it appears like just another usa planet saving series…

Considering its recorded in full HD in the States and uploaded in 720 i, its quality in the Torrents is HD perfect.

Its not as if someone sat with a Camcorder in their living room while its on. Plus Starz is a Pay channel in the States….

    • Dark Side of the Moon

      July 11th, 2011 - 11:30am

Ah but there is stereotypying to a degree that is beyond redemption πŸ™‚

If I was American or Welsh I would feel a little offended (Yes, I know RTD is Welsh…but he clearly needs to return to Wales for a bit). The American’s came across either as brash arrogant action heros (the men)or as ditzy blondes waiting top fall in love (the women)…and the Welsh came over as stupid and detached….PLEASE note…this is not my opinion of Americans or the Welsh…thats how I felt the characters came across to me…others may not find that.

But if you like explosives and big money stunts and can allow yourself to forget about the script and the acting (like most of the shows you find on Scy-Fy or FX)…then this is the show for you πŸ™‚

Hopefully, it will get better as the series goes on.

I am quite a difficult person to please when it comes to TV shows….so don’t read too much into my opinion πŸ™‚

    • Fox Mulder

      July 11th, 2011 - 10:45pm

I care about the script( I thought the children of earth was the best bit of SC FI writing since Back to the future 1) , I like a good alien conspiracy and I also love action aswell , but at least if them script is and the action can keep me entertained . Maybe I’m one of those that appreciates everything in it’s own right.

  • The Dark Side of the Moon

    July 10th, 2011 - 9:51pm

Just seen it. It’s clear the RTD is making the most of the American funding…some pretty nifty scenes…however the script was awful. Stereotype characters and babbling dialogue.

Please please BBC…dont sell out to a US production company when it comes to DW.
