What did You Think of Twice Upon a Time?
Now that the 12th Doctors final episode has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley – Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.
Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.
An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…

January 2nd, 2018 - 12:40pmWe also had Mickey and roses relationship and rose flirting with various people in series 1, episode 1,4,5,6,9,11,12,13 and then the same thing throughout series 2, Martha pining after the Doctor in series 3, Amy and Rory throughout series 5,6,7 part 1, and then Clara and Danny in series 8 and the Christmas special. Bill mentioned the fact she was gay a lot less than it was made apparent that Rose, Mickey, Martha etc were straight

January 2nd, 2018 - 12:09pmClara would win, because she’s a plot device.

January 2nd, 2018 - 12:07pmShe said in episode 1,4,6,7,10,12 and twice upon a time, I don’t mind it if it is done in a subtle way like they did with jack, but with her they straight just said it just to seem progressive. I have friends who are gay and watch dr who and they think some of it was pointless and there just to tell the viewer that she’s is gay. Also bills characters is not the only pc agenda that is currently going in the show.

January 2nd, 2018 - 10:41am“Adric vs Clara”
Adric would win. He actually has good material in the audios and probably would have been remembered much more fondly than he is if he had a more time with the 4th Doctor.
Clara is just annoying and overpowered. Needed to leave a year or two earlier than she did. Say what you will about Adric, atleast he went after a year. Clara stayed on for around 3 years…
Three. Long. Years.

January 1st, 2018 - 11:01pmI don’t know how Moffat did he made hell bent worse then it all ready is, the scene where the doctor forgets her it know pointless. Oh and Tim m they explained how rose was able to jump dimensions in the series four finale.

January 1st, 2018 - 8:43pmBill only mentioned she was gay when it served the plot to reflect attitudes of certain historical times as well as to stop men flirting with her. Why can’t Bill exist as a gay person to be just that ‘a gay person’ how is she in anyway a political agenda. it’s so demeaning to her character and gay people in general in the sense that anytime they appear in any sort of material they’re told that they’re there simply as ‘an agenda’

January 1st, 2018 - 8:38pmThey got back because reality started to collapse and the walls between parallel earth began to break down. The Doctor got his memories back just because moffatt wanted him to. I’m so glad moffatt never got his hands on Donna that would be a serious injustice for him to give her memories back

January 1st, 2018 - 8:26pmAdric v Clara in the battle of the most annoying companions. That would be close

January 1st, 2018 - 8:17pmAdric likeable??? That’s not possible!!!

January 1st, 2018 - 7:50pmIt did seem like the Doctor remembers Clara. Not surprised by that though. That’s typical Moffat, can’t help himself can he! Why do a scene where one character will forget another, only for it to all be undone later on. Makes the whole original scene pointless! Mind you, RTD was just as guilty. Apparently it’s impossible for Rose and anyone else to escape the parallel Earth, and return to ‘our’ Earth…yet, Rose and any other member of her family manage to get back to ‘our’ Earth easier than getting a train from Bath to Bristol!

January 1st, 2018 - 4:05pmNow that the Capaldi era has come to an end. Here is where I’d place him in order of favourite to least favourite Doctors since 2005.
1st: Christopher Eccleston.
2nd: Matt Smith.
3rd: Peter Capaldi.
4th: David Tennant.
The Ninth Doctor is still my favourite since the shows return. The Tenth Doctor is my least favourite. I know many adore Tennant as the Doctor, but whilst I don’t consider him terrible, He just appealed to me the least of the recent Doctors.

January 1st, 2018 - 2:58pmAlso some of the characters you used aren’t probably in the show, and the same could be said about vastra and Jenny. Also if you look at bills new action figure look what it’s holding.

January 1st, 2018 - 2:55pmBill is not because she is black, it is because they allow ways say she was gay for no reason and it was not done subtle like with captain jack in dr who. I mean the first episodes is practically about it, I would not care if it was used so much.
The Outcast
January 1st, 2018 - 1:05pmI agree with the Anonymous above, Series 9 was awful. How some people can proclaim it to be “the best Series of the Revival” defies me. It’s not even the best season of 12’s run, yet alone NuWho. Honestly, Series 9 is the worst Series of NuWho.

January 1st, 2018 - 12:22pmCan the Doctor remmember Clara again? She did say don’t forget me again so where does that leave us?
Still can’t stand her, worst companion ever, even made Adric likeable.

January 1st, 2018 - 10:33amIf I had to think of episodes from capaldi that I enjoyed all the way through from beginning to end with no cringe parts it’d have to be Into the Dalek, murder on the orient express, zygon invasion, face the raven, heaven sent maybe and the Doctor falls. There’s others that I’ve enjoyed moments of or the majority of but all the way through I think there’s only those I’ve mentioned

Doctor no more
December 31st, 2017 - 8:25pmHaving the 1st doctor in this actually made it watchable. Good bye no 12 never liked you or enjoyed any of the episodes in 3 series ,no charisma or decent stories. All fell apart since no 11 went and he didn’t get a decent send off unlike 12. Loved having the music back in from previous series and let’s see what happens next
Doctor Stu
December 31st, 2017 - 6:03pmHow is Bills characters a pc agenda? Is it because she’s gay and black because surely by that logic, Mickey and Martha must be an agenda as well as captain jack, ianto, Alonso, Luke, frank, vastra, Jenny, and the countless over gay characters that have been in DW

December 31st, 2017 - 5:58pmI agree, the Master/Missy was far too obvious being the thing inside the vault. Plus it was obvious that ‘The Captain’ in ‘Twice Upon A Time’ would turn out to be connected to ‘The Brigadier’. Oh, and “the fall of the 11th’ was hardly mysterious in it’s meaning either! This is where Moffat gets a bit lazy and predictable. All the above are great ideas, but there needed to be more of a surprising/shocking outcome, and not the stupidly obvious.

December 31st, 2017 - 4:51pmI meant to say I loathe s9 not love it, worst series after six,

December 31st, 2017 - 10:45amOne thing that I loved about this episode (one of many i should say) is that when the Doctor actually starts to regenerate the music cuts out. I think it really adds to the effect when the only noises you can hear is the whirring/whistling sound of the regeneration energy and sparks flying.
Doctor Stu
December 31st, 2017 - 10:35amBecause mofatt was leaving? Because Jodie was incoming? Because you just wanted the episode to end? to be honest I agree it wasn’t anything special, I’d watch bad wolf, parting of ways in whole because they’re a good lead up to the regeneration, same with the end of time and time of the Doctor but with twice upon a time I’d probably only rewatch the last 10 minutes to see the regeneration. Only highlights for me were the doctors speech to the testimony, the rusty and new earth part was quite good, and then the last scene with the 1st doctors regeneration and Capaldis farewell/regeneration

December 31st, 2017 - 10:16amI couldn’t fault David Bradley’s performance, but certainly the First Doctor was perceived as being more politically incorrect than he actually ever was. This though was clearly used in Moffat’s script as moments to create humour.

December 30th, 2017 - 4:42pmWhen I love an RTD episode I love it as a whole episode, but when I love a moffatt episode I often find myself loving certain moments of the episode as the gems are usually accompanied by bad acting, bad dialogue and just cringy attempts at comedy. Twice upon a time being a prime example, loved loved loved the 1st doctor regeneration scene but then immediately spoiled with nardole coming back and talking about his invisible hair with Bills badly acted reaction to it.
