Doctor Who Christmas Special

The Doctor, The Widow and The wardrobe – BBC1 25th December 7.00pm

It’s Christmas Eve, 1938, when Madge Arwell comes to the aid of an injured Spaceman Angel as she cycles home, in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, starring Matt Smith as the Doctor.

He promises to repay her kindness – all she has to do is make a wish.

Three years later, a devastated Madge escapes war-torn London with her two children for a dilapidated house in Dorset. She is crippled with grief at the news her husband has been lost over the channel, but determined to give Lily and Cyril the best Christmas ever.

The Arwells are surprised to be greeted by a madcap caretaker whose mysterious Christmas gift leads them into a magical wintry world. Here, Madge will learn how to be braver than she ever thought possible. And that wishes can come true…

Madge Arwell is played by Claire Skinner, Lily Arwell by Holly Earl and Cyril Arwell by Maurice Cole.

I also did find it emotional as he was my second favourite doctor, but not emotional enough to cry or anything.

Not to do with this, but it’s about the Doctor Who Movie – http://www.tgdaily.com/entertainment/59987-doctor-who-movie-wont-be-a-hollywood-reboot – Steven Moffat has said, if a Doctor Who Movie is made, it will feature the current Doctor (Matt Smith). These were his exact words:

“To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.” he tweeted, “David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet. You’ve seen the rubbish I talk when I’m cornered.”

Yates won’t listen to him he’ll just make the Doctor a big action hero dodging big super explosions on a futuristic motorbike…probably…hopefully not!

    • McGann is the Doctor.

      December 5th, 2011 - 9:14am

We’ll see, but my main concern is about he Dr Who 50th anniversary special, which hopefully will feature Paul McGann and also David Tennant reurning for their incarantion/s of the Doctor. 🙁

In the trailer you see The Doctors hand come out of the present to grab Lilys hand and she gets dragged through and asks The Doctor what happened he says that they were once in a sitting room which is where the present is. Also there was an image once of the Doctor opening the TARDIS to find nothing inside so someone might be messing with the TARDIS, but who? Oooh the suspense! Only 21 days till all is revealed

I just hope that if someone is messing with thge TARDIS, that it’s an old enemy, not a new enemy. I would like to see the return of a couple classic or eccleston/tennant enemies.

Everytime I look at the young girl in this up coming episode, I keep asking myself ” Don’t I know her from somewhere “. I just had to find out cos my mind was getting fed up trying to remember. Her names is Holly Earl, she played a girl in Casualty which my mum watches, she left the series sometime ago and played the daughter of a nurse who played Sally Sparrows friend Cathy Nightingale in 2007’s ” Blink ” episode.
