Sarah Jane returns to CBBC for two further series of adventures

CBBC Controller Damian Kavanagh has commissioned two new series (24 x 30-minutes) of hugely successful Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, which will see the intrepid investigative journalist and her gang of young sidekicks continue to enthral children for the foreseeable future.
Created by Russell T Davies, and featuring one of Doctor Who’s most famous companions, Sarah Jane Smith, The Sarah Jane Adventures is made by BBC Cymru Wales and has been a huge hit on CBBC since its debut in 2007, with viewing figures continuing to grow year on year.
The fourth series, set to air this autumn, will again star Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane. Young actors Tommy Knight, Daniel Anthony and Anjli Mohindra return as popular regulars Luke, Clyde and Rani.
The new adventures will feature the usual mixture of thrills, scares and fun with enemies old and new, including the terrors of the Nightmare Man, the sinister Shansheeth, the series’ first visit to an alien world, and even a dangerous journey back into history.
The series will go into production in Cardiff later this month with series three producer Nikki Wilson stepping up alongside Russell T Davies as executive producer and new producer Brian Minchin joining the team.
Damian Kavanagh says: “We are thrilled to be making many more episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
“It is been a huge ratings and critical success on CBBC and we hope our viewers are going to be hooked on Sarah Jane’s action-packed adventures for some time to come.”
BBC Wales Head of English Language Programmes, Clare Hudson, says: “The idea for The Sarah Jane Adventures sprang from the success of Doctor Who and it has since rocketed in popularity in its own right, thanks to the vision, talent and hard work of the show’s brilliant cast and crew.”
The fifth series will go into production in 2011 for transmission later that year.
Writers on the fourth series include Phil Ford (also co-producer), Joseph Lidster, Rupert Laight, Gareth Roberts and Clayton Hickman.
The Sarah Jane Adventures is a BBC Cymru Wales/Children’s BBC Production.

Yes there is an Episode 3, but SJA isn’t on on a Wednesday. The next episode is on Monday, and the concluding part to it the next day.

i was born in 1958 and i seen all of the docs and companiens sarah jane was the best when she came back to the new doctor who i was over the moon and another thing i liked brigadier leftbridge stewart was in her show wich was great and bring the doctor in to her show was magnificent i am 53 my sons of 19 and 21 will not miss dr who and sarah jane adventures cant wait for the new ones ,will miss her very much i reckon she did not die she whent off with the doc in his tardis to save other worlds good luck to her and k9 were ever they are

I was devastated when I heard the news about sarah jane(elizebeth sladen). I think they should have a dalek sarah jane episode with in the episodes they already filmed before the happening, also you know the brigader passed away as well I think they should have done a tribute for the brigader as well.

Series 5 was confirmed way before she was taken Ill some filming had been taking place and 3 stories are complete, no decision has been made on the shows future, its far to early.

before anything, RIP liz, in my mind probably the best actor born yet, i have heard she filmed the first six episodes (E1P1, E1P2, E2P1, E2P2, E3P1, E3P2) i do not know whether they will bring in a new Sarah-Jane for Series 6 because the top of this page states “The fourth series, set to air this autumn, will again star Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane, surely that should be ovbious”and just put 3 episodes in number 5, its sad because the most recent episode was called “goodbye sarah jane smith”, (ironic or fate) i hope the series keeps on going, but youll never be able to replace her. RIP Elizabeth Sladen.

I was so sad to hear this news, I was coincidentally watching Doctor Who and on Twitter, I saw a tweet stating Elisabeth Sladen had passed away this morning. This deeply saddened me.
Although, the new series of the Sarah – Jane Adventures was due to start on CBBC in less than 5 months. This would make me think that, some, if not all of series 5 had already been shot. I would have thought we would have heard from the BBC if SJA had been canceled due to Elisabeth Sladen’s illness, as in the filming being stopped. I still think there may be some hope for SJA series 5, there will never be anything like it agin. Elisabeth Sladen is a true legend to me and am sure many other people.

Sarah Jane Adventures is the best, i want it to go on 4ever. One tip Clyde and Rani should get 2gether, Sarah Jane and Doctor who should get together. In my opinion David Tennant is better than Matt Smith, i would prefer him to be back in but Matt Smith is alright wiv me. I’m a mega SJA fan ive even done the morph on CBBC website, it so cool. I really wanna meet ELISABETH SLADEN, DANIEL ANTHONY, ANJLI MOHINDRA, TOMMY KNIGHT, YASMIN PAIGE and all the other SJA characters. I just want to say that I adore the sarah Jane adventures. It is one of my favourite shows. I am seventeen years of year and I absolutely lobe this programme.. My favourite actor is Elizabeth Sladen (aka sarah Jane smith). I personally think she is a fantastic actor, i lve the way that she acts with passion and imagination. She makes the showso enjoyable, I’m 17 and I’m not ashamed to watch this programme. I have only started watching it in the summer of 2010, and I have watched every single episode thatnhas been produced. I am really looking forward to series five. I would really like to know when that series is coming out?

OMG, lovin the new series! Cant wait to see series 5! Absolutely love Clyde, I think he’s sooo cute and really funny! He’s by far the best character out of the whole cast. Glad Marias not coming back though, she would just interupt the gang. I’m wondering what this new comer’s gunna be like though?? Hope she’s good! Here are my ideas or series 5 of the Sarah Jane adventures:
I think that Rani and Clyde should be together,Maria and Luke should be together and the four of them should all come back and reunite as friends with the two separate couples within.All four of them with Sarah Jane as their leader should face more events and solve them together.I think this would be a great ending series,if all five friends reunite together and save the planet!

Just started watching sja and hav to admit i love it! Have watched all 4 series in 2 weeks and i love CLYDE! He is so the best character and he has to gt with Rani! just watched the whole series and have to admit it’s not my favourite. i miss luke and have you reliesed that all the episodes without him weren’t that chanlleging. i’m mean shanstheen one had the doctor. back in time one where givin instuructions on what to do. i mean really!

Seriously, take a grammar lesson, I can barely understand a word any of you are saying. Anyway, just wanted to say the latest series is a bit of a dissapointment, I gotta admit the show was better with Luke in it. Btw, Luke left because Tommy Knight, who played him, wants to be a doctor, not an actor, so it wasn’t the writer’s fault, as a previous comment suggested.

Here is my own plot of SJA:
A man stood alone, in a room. He was sitting on a deck chair, his expression sad. “Death awaits!” he screamed, but it was too late because just as he said that an angry scaly alien stormed inside, “You’ll be taken, our warriors need food, now COME!” growled the alien, dragging the man out of the room.
Meanwhile at Sarah Jane’s house, Mr Smith was giving Luke a history lesson, on Roman numerals and Eygtian hyrogliphics. “Thanks Mr Smith, goodbye.” said Luke calmly, as Sarah Jane came in.
“Mr Smith, I’ve heard about a disaperance of a man, who was in West London who vanished last night with no trace.” said Sarah Jane, looking worried.
“The records of the kidnapping, are unlikely to be alien, but I’ll still have a look,” Mr Smith stopped, then continued, “DATA, DATA…DATA,” his voice was deeper, “transmitted!” his voice was now a lot more relaxed.
Just then the room shoke, and an the blood-thirsty alien glared at them all, “Dinner!”

The next series of SJA should be better, but Luke is definetly leaving, but not going to die. 2011 SJA will have a new charecter replacing Luke.

lukes leaving, oh no, its series 4 he leaves , and the shansheeth are volture like humanoids . And are not related to the slitheen , blathereen, rakateen. But they visit an alien world and its not raxacoricophallabatourius , but it would be cool if they did, maybe they do.

I like sja, but the monsters are a bit rubbish (eg, in series 3 episode 4 was just a man and episode 5 was just the mona lisa and you only saw the hand of the abomination)the only good baddies are the slitheen,sontaran,bane and the trikster.
