September 2nd, 2012 - 3:15pmI wrote something similar, the episode was a random mess with slight lovely ideas on how the classics were.

September 2nd, 2012 - 3:13pmDoctor Who is nothing lately in MY opinion Steven Moffat has ruined the Show, The Asylum of The Daleks should never have been advertised with pictures of the old Daleks they were very few and did nothing. Oswin was a nice supprise but felt the whole episode built to nothing, I spoke to several of my friends who all agree, I can’t see how so many people like it but that’s your opinion. I will stick to the classics

September 2nd, 2012 - 3:08pmWell said Sean, no explanation what happened after “VICTORY”
Very lazy writing.
Sean
September 2nd, 2012 - 3:04pmthe most scary part for me was how poorly executed the return of the daleks since ‘victory’ was handled by moffat and done in a confusing fashion that didn’t pay homage to terry nations most brilliant nemesis… sorry but i have to disagree Commander Strax. Nothing personal just my opinion as a long standing doctor who fan since
Jon Pertwee.

September 2nd, 2012 - 3:02pmUntil the viewing figures crash below 5, maybe 4 million viewers, the show is safe. Doctor Who brings so much money into the BBC and is one of it’s most exported proporities. Fans not being happy sadly isn’t the important fact. It’s the casual viewers or Joe public who matter to the BBC. If they start hating it then the show is on it’s way to the axe but based on viewing figures, press reviews and polls on forums. Fans are mainly happy but a lot aren’t, plenty of people are watching and plenty of people think the show is still going strong. You’re entitled to your opinion but the facts are currently against you on the belief Doctor Who is on the chopping block.

September 2nd, 2012 - 2:39pmIt wasn’t confusing!
Sean
September 2nd, 2012 - 2:36pmThe episode was confusing and extremely underwhelming. Very brief moments that teased the audience of how the programme once was but failed to deliver, except for the advances in visuals both in special effects and budget. Steven is very hit and miss at times. The return of series 7 and the most popular foe was disappointingly not on par with the hype and the long hiatus. Think it’s high time that someone ele’s took the series helm to ensure the shows future especially leading into the 50th anniversary. Otherwise I predict the direction sylvester mccoy’s era became – axed entirely…

September 2nd, 2012 - 1:55pmWhat you have to remember is all the other series, starting back with Rose in 2005, up to Impossible Astronaut last year, have all premiered in April. This is September we’re in now.
April is a time when kids are still at school etc. Familys are all home. September is last week or so of School Holidays, lots of family’s are away before kids go back to school next week. So of course viewing figures will be higher in April, than September.
Anyway. Back to the episode. I loved it. It’s got back to more sci-fi stuff, and finally away from the soap opera RTD turned it into.
The Daleks finally perfected their Human-Dalek hybrid, and in a better way than in Tennants time when they were stuck in Manhatten! That was just daft, but these, with the eyestalks out the foreheads? Genius!
My jaw hit the floor at the shock of seeing Jenna Louise Coleman, and I had a lump in my throat at the end when it was revealed she was actually a Dalek.
And wiping the Daleks memories? Nice touch!
Overall, a brilliant opening episode. 10/10

September 2nd, 2012 - 1:14pmReally I think RTD’s finale had a sense of deus ex machina to them. At least Moffat’s finale don’t have a cheap get out to them. And RTD was obsessed with making the Doctor a Jesus-like figure. The Moff makes the Doctor what he should be a mad man with a box.

September 2nd, 2012 - 1:06pmoswin/clara would make a great figure

September 2nd, 2012 - 1:05pmThis isnt the final figure. The actual viewing figures will be higher.

September 2nd, 2012 - 1:02pmI agree with you Gavin. What is Moff doing to the show? Hated last nights; so much hype about all the old Daleks etc. The past couple of seasons have been ok, not a patch on the RTD seasons but the Moff season finales have been poor and last years xmas special was the worst of the lot, so i had a feeling Asylum would be a let down. I was hoping to be proved wrong but nothing has improved.
Really angry as a Who fan at the mo.

September 2nd, 2012 - 12:56pmI think the Moffat era is up to the standards of Tom Baker/Robert Holmes era.
Gavin Who
September 2nd, 2012 - 12:52pmAs a very keen Doctor Who fan since the Jon Pertwee days can see history repeating itself and I dont even have my own tardis.
After Peter Davison the show lost interest to the point that by the time Sylevestor McCoy landed the role it was axed.
When it was resurrected with Christopher Eccleston and David Tenant thanks To Russell T Davies, now Stephen Moffat has the reigns and Matt Smith is in the lead role I am sorry but things are going down hill.
When I read Stephen Moffats interview regarding Asylum of the Daleks I was pleased how he wanted to make them again the scary enemy they once were.
Sorry but the whole of Doctor Who needs a complete shake up again and unfortunately for Matt a new doctor else I will give it a few years at most.

September 2nd, 2012 - 12:44pmActually 8 million wathed The Eleventh Hour as it went out. 10.08 million was the final figure with time-shift. Impossible Astronaut and Let’s Kill Hitler got 6.52 and 6.2 live but rose to 8.86 and 8.10 with time-shift.

September 2nd, 2012 - 11:04amthe episode was awesome, but it was simply a long way to get amy and rory back together, and to hide the doctor from the silence
