Ben Miller Set to guest star opposite Peter Capaldi

Ben Miller to Guest Star in Doctor Who

From the official site…

Ben Miller is set to guest star opposite Peter Capaldi when the new series of Doctor Who returns this autumn.

Commenting on his role, Ben Miller said: ‘As a committed Whovian I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures. My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.’

Miller achieved fame as half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller before success in dramas, including Primeval and more recently, as DI Richard Poole, the central character in the first two series of the BBC’s Death in Paradise.

Miller’s partner in comedy, Alexander Armstrong, appeared in Doctor Who’s 2011 Christmas Special, playing Reg Arwell, but it’s Miller’s first time on the show and he’ll be starring in an episode written by Mark Gatiss.

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, added: ‘Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in Doctor Who!’

I loved seeing him with Alexander Armstrong in the BBC Series ‘The Armstrong and Miller Show’ 😀

My favorite part of their series is when they both played 2 World War 2 Veteran’s. Alex played a British Veteran, while Ben played a German Veteran.

Both characters seem friendly at first and forgive one another for things both sides had done during the war, until they end up having a fight regarding Katy Price and her ex-husband Peter Aundry. I’d recommend looking it up on YouTube, it’s very funny 😀

Remembered him when he was on “QI” once, he displayed a singular talent at science (not surprisingly) so I think he will a distinct and powerful character against Peter Capaldi. Any scientific terminology he comes out with I will believe, even if it’s a load of drashigs.

So excited Ben Miller’s going to be in DW! Loved him in Primeval, so he’s a perfect fit, seeing as he’s dealt with wibbly wobbly time cracks and creatures already!
