Don’t forget, that apart from the very brief appearance of a damaged Paradigm Supreme Dalek in ‘The Wedding of River Song’, the Daleks did not actually have a story during series 6 back in 2011, so they did have a year off.

As others have said apparently it’s a stipulation of the Terry Nation estate that their used yearly or so which I think is fair enough as in other Sci-Fi like Star Trek nobody complains about the Klingons appearing too often.
But your right that they need to be more orginally used in a way this forthcoming episode hopefully promises and more of a fear factor put back into them or it wouldn’t seem so out of place for the Doctor to say:

    “OH NOT YOU AGAIN!!!”

    More Daleks, Dull,dull,dull,

With the frequency at which The Daleks keep turning up the Doctor should be yawning like the rest of us! Let’s face it they need a rest for a while just like the audience,

Lately they’ve been about as frightening as cold custard, and don’t get me started on The Tele-Tubby Daleks,

    All together now “Uh-Oh!”

Don’t get me wrong the Daleks are a Great Foe but they need to be used sparingly, The Best Story of course being Genisis of The Daleks!

Have you read the script to this episode? I think it’smore like the opposite of the STNG episode you’re describing

The Terry Nation Estate legally requires the Daleks to appear at least once every year or they won’t be able to use them at all.

Lets hope so because they are fantastic!

Think manipulating the pathweb must be involved here.

This also seems a bit reminiscient of the “I Borg” episode of Star Trek Next Generation when the crew of the Enterprise D come across a Borg drone they nickname Hugh that has become disconnected from the Borg collective’s consciousness creating the opportunity to upload a devastating virus Captain Picard eventually vetoes as being unethical as it’s destructiveness would make them no better than the Borg.

Just out of interest, does anyone know if the BBC are releasing those movie- style posters as they did for Series 7?

Well I interpted Victory as meaning that with activation of the Progenitor Device the remaining Time War Daleks had served their purpose which is why they so readily assented to their own extermination. With that and the ship the Paridgms had everything they needed to create a new Dalek Empire
But I agree that Moffat should have stuck to his guns with the new design as were supposed to be the deadliest Daleks with those casings yet.
“All hail the new Daleks! All hail the new Daleks!”

I love the Paradigm to bits, and have a theory myself; at the end of ‘Victory’ the Paradigm ventured out into space, locating rogue Time War (or previous) ships. They then pretend to forge an alliance with these groups, taking advantage of their drone forces and machinery before exterminating them (as they are impure Daleks), thus killing two Bane with one stone. Perhaps we saw this in practise in ‘Asylum’…? It would explain why a Dalek team so obsessed with purity would approve of Dalek-Human hybrids; they are merely humouring the Inferior Daleks so they can take advantage of their technologies, before, in time exterminating them, as seen in ‘Victory’.

It’s a shame that Moffat seemed to bow down to whining fans to be honest. Not to insult those who don’t like the Paradigm, I just think we should have given them a chance before he demoted them. :/

People the title isn’t inside a dalek, it’s into the dalek, that could be the daleks mind, it could be psychological, they go into a daleks mind, and a “choice that could change the daleks” does the doctor have the choice to turn the daleks GOOD!? But who is he to turn them good, when he doesn’t even know if he’s a good man himself
    Just a theory 🙂

  • DALEKSKITTLES

    August 15th, 2014 - 8:15pm

Btw I think by inside the a dalek, it maybe more psychological, so they share a mind with a dalek, see what a dalek thinks and sees, see the world through the blue eye stalk, and change the daleks for ever? Maybe the chance to turn them good, but who had the right to turn a dalek good, when the doctor doesn’t even know if he’s good himself?
Just a theory 🙂 what ya think?

ONE MORE WEEK TILL DOCTOR WHO SERIES 8 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 😀

  • Cyber10Dalek

    August 15th, 2014 - 6:55pm

My god i just realised…if the Doctor and Clara do indeed go inside a Dalek (maybe through the use of something similar to the miniturisation ray on board the teselecta)then can you imagine what the dalek mutant will look like?!It would be like the kraken!XD

  • The Surgeon

    August 15th, 2014 - 6:19pm

Really? I think the title is poor, and the synopsis. And I really hope the Paradigm Daleks at least make a cameo.

  • The Surgeon

    August 15th, 2014 - 6:17pm

I love the Paradigm Daleks. I hope they return, with an explanation of the Eternal’s function.

  • Creative Whovian

    August 15th, 2014 - 4:39pm

I love the daleks but I’m beginning to see what everyone means. We need to give them a break. Infact, a better way of doing things would be to finally re-introduce the paradigm. It had so much potential!

  • The Moffat Paradox

    August 15th, 2014 - 11:43am

Steven Moffat`s also said as a fallback position that the Paradigms are the officer class which would suggest the Time War design is used for Daleks who have the same pure Paradigm DNA for the infantry/footsoldiers(So to speak.) as there were no non pure DNA Daleks left after Victory.
Theres nothing wrong with them in my view as they are still essentially Dalek and they would have gained more popularity if they were used more effectively earlier and better as it’s been suggested their supposed to have things like hidden weaponary. The red designated warrior ones are maybe to be seen as special forces if they don’t fully assume the role of the ones in the Time War design.
