But She Will be bak 🙂 shes 1 of my fav companions eva! Matt Smiths great but will never be as good as David Tennant who is the best Dr. Eva!

Argh! I just typed out a whole comment and my computer crashed on me, so I’m starting again…here goes:

WOW!!! I actually cannot wait for 26/06/2010- I don’t think any Doctor Who episode has ever left me in such suspense, and that’s saying something. I’ve read all of the comments on this thread (a lot of people have A LOT to say about this, don’t they) so this is a general reply with some of my own ideas and theories.

First of all, I do not believe that this Saturday’s episode will see the return of The Rani or any similar old-series characters, not because they are out of date, as such, but because I don’t think that a lot of the modern audience will understand the characters fully. Better, I think, to stick to a more recent character or introduce a new one, than presume that the viewers are all up-to-speed on the characters of old. I know that a lot of the audience, including myself, have only been alive through the years of Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and, now, Matt Smith, so that’s probably not likely.

I would definitely like to see more in the way of Amy being in control of the situation. It’s highly unlikely, to my mind, that Amy has actually died, or, if she has, that she cannot be brought back in some way. I really hope that this reputed museum story line is going ahead because that sounds lovely, especially because it will take place in at least two places along Amy’s timeline. I did think that Amy could have been created, either by the Doctor and his friends or by the enemy, so that she is not actually a real person in the sense that other companions have been real. I’m not saying she’s an auton like Rory’s reincarnation, but perhaps that she lives to serve a very specific Pandorica-related purpose, such as opening it. This seems likely as the story is based on her favourite things. Also it could be that her life was altered by aliens in more ways than one. We know that, as a child, she met the Doctor and had a crack in her bedroom wall, but the empty rooms the Doctor picked up on in episode 12 could be the remnants of lives he was talking about. Just like the ring, they could be an indication of other people, a whole family, that were wiped out of existence and left only small traces behind.

In “Flesh and Stone”, there was one moment where the Doctor left Amy in the clearing with her eyes closed, then he came back and told her that she had to remember what he had told her in her childhood. But SHE had to remember, he couldn’t tell her. Then he left again. The subtle significance is that the man who came back had his jacket on, unlike the man who left the clearing with river; his jacket was left with the angels, and he doesn’t have it on in later scenes. Therefore I think it’s possible that this “version” of the Doctor is from the future/another timeline or something similar, coming back to prompt her memory. They don’t speak of the incident again and Amy has her eyes closed, so it’s possible that another version could have come back and everybody presumed it was the same man. OR it could be a continuity error, but that’s not very Doctor Who, is it?

There’s been a lot of speculation here about the man that River Song kills, though we can’t be sure that she’ll kill them this episode. Rory’s lovely but I don’t think that he’s quite the best man that River has ever known, so unless he does something especially heroic in “The Big Bang”, I don’t think it will be him. At the same time, I don’t think it will be the Doctor, or if it is, it won’t be that simple; come on, this is Doctor Who, after all!

Finally I don’t think that Moffat will have gone with an “it was all a dream…” scenario, or at least not one as basic as that. Don’t get me wrong, they CAN work, just look at “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, “The Wizard of Oz”, or even “Amy’s Choice”, but for the big finale, it’s usually some spectacularly complicated plot that, let’s face it, none of us are going to guess. However, I do think it possible that we will see the return of the Dream Lord. At the end of “Amy’s Choice” the Doctor saw the Dream Lord in his reflection. As a part of the episode, it could simply show that the Doctor knows, and is afraid of, his darker side, but we could see this darkness manifest itself. Certainly, the situation he finds himself in now, at the end of “The Pandorica Opens” is a bit dream-like, with respect to its profound links to Rory, Amy, and himself. Alternatively, the darker side could win over after a long and maddening time spent imprisoned in the box. After all, as the Doctor tells Amy in the first episode, “I am definitely a mad man with a box” 😀

Sorry, I know I’m rambling, but I think I’m driving my family mad with all of my spontaneous speculations so I thought I’d take my ideas somewhere else 🙂

Oh, and I know I said finally, but I read somewhere here that this series isn’t up to scratch because of the loose ends presented by the episodes. Personally, I think that this has been one of the best series so far, and for that very reason. The clever thing about this kind of writing is that the loose ends act as clues, or red-herrings, which, when brought together in a two-part finale, drive the viewers mad with curiosity. I’m sure I can’t be the only one watching the series back for clues 🙂 x

as far as i’m aware R’T the colour of a Dalek has no bearing on its rank in the Dalek Empire they have always seemed to been totaly random,
funny enough a gd example was “The Cult Of Skaro”
they had to be quite high in the ranks and they were each a different colour

I still got my heart set these events causes the tardis to blow, locking him up (making him dout his self lose his mind) slowly going mad planning wantting venarange…he knows the allaince will be in the earth astomostphere on amys wedding days who knows why…Obv to make sure the tardis dont blow( if there no timelord no tardis blowing up ) but what if thats wrong what if ( if there no timelord on a rampage wanting to reveange on thos who imprisson him what if the easyest way to take them all out in one go all them ships ) ofc he wont go in one by one and sabortage he will do a rose and take them all out all at once maybe flying in space and detornating it to wipe them out. ofc HE IS look at david tennet both times his debut and when his hand grew look at him when he flew the tardis at the darlek fleet(chris) look at the master when he died and got brought back off the ring (off his rockker) we no the timelords are ill tempeted and we no what the doctor is capable off…

just readin that makes my head hurt lol if the cracks did not happen then no episode would have happened as amy would not be there, the doctor would probs be dead at the time of angels and flesh and stone, there would be no crack to absorb the angels so there would be no way to get out alive and stop the angels. does anyone know what the yellow dalek might be also? i think it might be like a negotiater since the aliance has been formed

i like your thinking Richard but ponder on this its been confirmed by The Daleks (who in my fav ep “Victory of the Daleks used deception as there main attack) that the Tardis caused the “Cracks in Time” so isn’t it possible that they could be lieing again to there own gain

and also the Progenator from the same Ep “Victory of the Daleks” it was stated that “thousands were made one remains” by the inferior Daleks, couldn’t it be possible that the advanced Daleks found another Progenator with Davros’s DNA and revived the Doctors greatest foe

OK onto this episode, in answer to various queries, the alliance state that they have scanned, planned, probed and worked out all eventualities to get the dr here to this point. They they think they know the dr causes the destruction of the universe, they also know that he wont just come to the pandorical on his own accord. So everything that has happened this series has been manipulated to some extent to bring the dr here. When prisoner 0 taunted the dr saying silence will come, she knew the tardis and therefore the dr caused the crack. She also knew the crack would signify the end of the universe, the fact that her jailers are there in the alliance shows that they knew this. It is even possible 0 was allowed to escape to give the dr his first “clue” the tardis above the flat may or may not be dalek origin, the daleks have made there own tardis’s in the past, the chase is one example (a very old episode) however the daleks are also now ale to move in time without a ship, the cult of skaro transported themselves back in time to new york without a ship. It may explain how some of the other races went back in time to ancient England.

The alliance obviously have manipulated van gough (to paint the pic with coordinates and date) made sure it was found and taken to churchill, then made sure liz 10 eventually keeps it. And also enabled churchill to contact song, the one person they knew would be able to get the dr to come. So the being that speaks in the tardis is not any of the enemies we have seen already. Instead it is the being that manipulated the alliance to ensure the dr is imprisoned so the tardis can be blown up. If there is no explosion, there are no cracks, dr does not meet amy, rory or any of the rest, 0 does not escape, the atraxey do not attack earth, beast below could still happen, daleks could still happen, venice wouldn’t, angels would have had to have been beaten a very different way, um someone else can continue analysing how the episodes would be different if the tardis doesn’t explode.

But basically a being needs to be able to see all of that, understand it see how it all links together to get the dr to the pandorical. But if the universe explodes and earth explodes, amy never existed so the dr never found the crack. This is why amy is the key, if amy had not gone of traveling with the dr, or had married rory and allowed that day to continue then the dr would never have met van gough. so the explosion never happens.

Ok am thinking aloud now. So my prediciton, some great powerful being poss omega is behind it all, pulling all the strings making things reach this circular finale of dr gets imprisoned for destroying the universe, therefore universe is destroyed. Amy obs plays a big part in undoing this, dont think it is anything as simple as freeing the dr, possibly it involves her doing something to break the cycle, almost like donna killing herself to save her future self. ok my head hurts and I am very tired, if any of this makes sense I will be very amazed. thanks for reading

steven D, looking for the quote now, but there is an explanation that the DR is a reincarnation of the 3rd timelord that, with rassilon and Omega gave the gallifreyans there timelord tech e.t.c. As rassilon became more and more power hungry after Omegas “death” he threw himself into the time vortex, he then was reincarnated later in time as the dr. Like I say looking for the exact place I read that, think it is based on a load of the novels that where released post mccoy,

On a second point, to those of you that keep quoting the one thing you don’t put in a trap is the dr, and he then fires a gun, that was at the end of the 1st angels episode where they where under the ship.

It makes no sense for river song to be the rani, or the dr, it makes more sense for it to be as it is, the dr meets her at diferent times in his life, eventually she will become his companion, and poss wife. The greatest man she ever knew and killed, the DR, maybe not this dr remember when she saw tennants dr she wasnt surprised he looked different, and obv was the only time she ever met that incarnation, hence why she at first thought he was alot older, then she realised this was the first time she met him. So you can believe that at some point in his future there will come a time when she has to kill him. I cant believe that time is now, as she has to marry him e.t.c. The fact that the first time he met her she dies suggests that maybe they go full circle, and the first time she meets him she has to kill him.

    June 22nd, 2010 - 12:50am

owens88 r u talkin about the 11th hour? and i dont think the bbc would get rid of a brand new tardis just one series with it, the other one lasted 4 before they got a new 1, but it would also take out the fun of the tardis and it wouldnt realy leave it open for a companion to travel with him

  • owens88

    June 22nd, 2010 - 12:46am

In the new Doctor’s opening episode he threw in a comment along the lines of ‘ there, I’ve solved the problem. No Tardis, just me.’

So perhaps the future is without tardis just a ‘device’ like Jack’s or the one River acquired (Jack’s ?).

    June 22nd, 2010 - 12:42am

good point, haven’t realy seen it in a while so cant remember too much from it, but it is as if river knows too much, a do think the tardis will blow up and that is how the cracks happen over the universe and it also explains y there is time energy leakin out of the cracks
