Filming for the 50th anniversary starts this week. Meanwhile a brand new series starts on BBC ONE today (30 March) at 6:15pm for a run of eight epic episodes, which officially introduces the Doctor’s newest companion, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Great news! Cant wait. Rose was always the best for me and same with the 10th doctor. Although it could be the duplicate. Wonder if anymore cast announcments will be made?!

This is the best day I’ve had in a while.
New series starts, Charlton win at home and the return of the 10th Doctor and Rose. As David would say, Allons-y.

  • The TARDIS

    March 30th, 2013 - 4:55pm

It would only have been spoilt by people taking photos of the filming, and I think an official announcement is much better.

    March 30th, 2013 - 4:42pm

filming starts next week and it may be outdoors so it was bound to get out, only thing is i think the announcement has been rushed because it was leaked by Doctor Who magazine subs copies being sent out to early

Very excited about this… but… I don’t know. .. it doesn’t sound like the sort if thing they would release 7 months early… or even at all! There is more to this than what meets the eye… definetley.

I had heard that….there are mumblings that the BBC are going to test technology to its limit and the early Doctors may appear as CGI to overcome that some of the actors have passed away and others are now very old. Star Trek did something similar afew years ago in the Deep Space Nine episode “Trials and Tribble-actions” where they revisited sequences from the orginal show….it worked really well and I’m sure it can be done better and much cheaper these days. Anyway, the cGI solution is probably not true anyway.

According to Doctor Who online some much more significant “classic ” news is immanent

Is it just me or does this just seem too obvious….could this be a deliberate press release to distract attention away from much more interesting casting….or is that just wishful thinking…?

This is good news ! I always enjoyed the tenth Doctor era and the way the character was portrayed by all who, wrote, designed and and of course, acted in, during the programme in those years. Of course, the 50th show will depend on the story and greatly on the quality of the Moffat/Smith era, which isn’t always to my likings. Stil, new episodes to come, and a sense of cautious optimism for the future!! Looking forward to it. Good Stuff !!
