Ok but there must have been other forms of TV awards in the 60s, 70s and 80s…did DW win ANYTHING before Steven Moffat?

Yes of course it has. It won the Writer’s Guild Award for the best British children’s original script in 1976, it has won at the National TV Awards under Davies and Tennant. The suggestion that is has not won an award before is very silly.

Yes Doctor Who has won so many many Award’s before Steven Moffat took over as Executive Producer of Doctor Who from the reins of Russell T. Davies.

Fact is this is the first time since Moffat took over that Doctor Who has won anything at the NTA’s. With Tennant and Davies an award would be won every year!

Sherlock won too. Well done Moffat…I reckon his job is safe as he is responsible for both of the BBCs most successful sub genre dramas.

This is kudos! When you think of all the quality dramas that were aired last year and a 14 part sci fi show produces the winner. Well done that man Matt Smith and of course Steven Moffatt for producing a show that enabled Matt to give such great performances. Did any of the previous actors win acting awards for their performance of the Doctor? Was the show even nominated for awards in the past?

At the NTAs, Doctor Who has always been nominated only losing for 2010 to 2012. However in 2011, Matt Smith became the only Doctor to ever be nominated for a BAFTA for playing the Doctor.

      So nothing prior to 2010?

So all those years that are called ‘classic’ didn’t win a single award? Hmmm interesting.

The classic era never won a NTA award because they only started in the early 1990’s.I am so pleased for Doctor Who and Matt Smith who I will miss as the Doctor but look forward to seeing Peter Capaldi later this year.
