Original Mondasian Cybermen Return to Doctor Who!

From the official site

The original Mondasian Cybermen return to Doctor Who as filming begins on the final block of the forthcoming series…

Filming has begun on the final two episodes of Doctor Who series 10, with this first look image revealing the return of a much-feared classic foe.

The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is pictured with the Mondasian Cybermen – the original version of the Doctor’s deadly enemies who hail from the planet Mondas and have not been seen in Doctor Who for over fifty years.

The Mondasian Cybermen – Peter Capaldi’s long-time favourite foe – will return in episodes 11 and 12 of the series, alongside Capaldi as the Doctor, Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts, Matt Lucas as Nardole and Michelle Gomez as Missy. The episodes, written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay, are now filming in Cardiff.

Also the Mondasian Cybermen have literally taken over Twitter! It’s been a fantastic night for Doctor Who filming etc. 🙂

The reason they revealed them is probably because it’s currently Cyber-galore on the streets of Cardiff so they would be leaked anyway.

Wow. So excited about Mondasian cybermen but why, oh why could it not be kept a secret. Stop spoiling it !!!! The fundamental excitement of Dr Who was the reveal of the monsters and now we know all the monsters before the series even starts. Shame on you BBC. Why do they feel the need to give it all away ?

These are far more creepy than the ‘stomping’ cybermen. I wish it had been kept as a surprise though.

I hope not – we sort of had that with ‘Spare Parts’ by Big Finish

I hope to god this has no impact on Big Finish’s magnificent audio ‘Spare Parts’. It would be such a shame to take from that!!

What a great photo! Peter Capaldi has already had a story with classic Daleks and even sat in Davros chair, now he is in a story with MONDAS CYBERMEN!! I was looking forward to this series enough but now I’m positively bursting with excitement! Although it would be nice if this could be the Xmas special!

Yes, I agree. Brilliant news as it is, it would have made a great cliffhanger. On the other hand, it might be difficult to keep it secret given that they do have to film the episodes. Hopefully there will be other nice surprises in store instead.

Can’t wait, love the updated look of these cybermen but at the same time they still look retro. Also does the doctor land on Mondas ?

Despite being thrilled by this news i’d have loved it to come as a huge surprise during an episode, not weeks before the series even begins.

I’m literally speechless! I love Capaldi, Bill and Nardole – Then we’ve got the Daleks, Original Cybermen (and modern ones too by the looks of it), Weeping Angels, Ice Warriors (Plus an Ice Lord of some sort!), Movellans and Missy! This series is going to be epic! 😀

YEEEESSSSS!!! Capaldi finally get’s his wish! So glad he’s got this since he’s a fantastic actor who, despite being brilliant in the role, has been badly handled in his time as The Doctor. He more than deserves this! I think I’m equally happy for him as I am to see these awesome enemies back at last! 😀

And this straight away got me watching the tenth planet again. (William Hartnells last story and first story featuring the cyber men. For those who don’t know, which you probably do)

Finally the Cybermen will be scary again. I wonder if this will be a adaptation of Spare Parts?

The 12th Doctor could die alongside Susan, and then they BOTH regenerate. Moffat…Let me write the finale! 🙂

    March 6th, 2017 - 6:14pm

Capaldi did say he would like the original Cybermen to come back I think. So that’s one box ticked. Maybe his other wish should be in his final story. The Christmas Special. That he could meet an older Susan in a future Christmas or something. It would make for a poignant finale for Capaldi’s Doctor.

Will this be a genesis of the Cybermen story?

This should be Capaldi’s last story. It would be rather fitting if he was to bow out of the show opposite the original Cybermen, just like Mr Hartnell.

The scariest cybermen. The best cybermen. Hopefully moff uses these correctly and builds a grwat story. Also what if. What if since he is the first of the 2nd batch of regenerations he dies a similar way to william hartnells doc after faceing the same enemys

I’m really REALLY hoping this is a Heaven Sent and not a Hell Bent but you never know with Moffat
