In this week’s Radio Times:
Election fever has reached Radio Times: The Daleks are back in technicolour and this week’s Radio Times has three different Dalek covers – red, blue and yellow, like the three main political parties.
Writer Mark Gatiss explains his fascination with Daleks and explores their timeless appeal.
Plus, Radio Times takes an exclusive first look into the BBC’s online archive to find out its top Doctor Who secrets
An online BBC Archive project allows the first ever access to audience research reports on previous Time Lords from John Pertwee to Sylvester McCoy. Radio Times went to find out more.
And an interview with Gordon Brown including a quickfire round of questions about topics such as Doctor Who:
Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet?
“Hamlet [with David Tennant]. I saw it recently.”
John Pertwee, Tom Baker, David Tennant or Matt Smith?
“I think you know what I’m going to say here. Yes. David Tennant is the best.”

April 12th, 2010 - 8:06pmOh, and by the way everyone, the Daleks that have been coloured Yellow, Blue and Red aren’t actually going to be used in the episode. It will only be the white that will be used. They have been coloured Yellow, Blue and Red because of the General Election. Yellow for Liberal Democrats, Blue for Conservatives and Red for Labour. IT IS JUST THE WHITE ONE!

April 12th, 2010 - 7:32pmHm, interesting… Not a completely radical redesign, but then the Daleks are one of those icons from the show you wouldn’t want to tamper with too much.
And to those who’ve complained, yes you can have your opinion, but stop to think a minute first.
A) The redesign could from a practical standpoint, give the operator inside more room.
B) This could be a one story deal and we never see these Daleks again. We just don’t know yet.
It certainly doesn’t merit a reaction like ‘Ugh, it’s ruined and I’m never watching again.’

April 12th, 2010 - 7:29pmNOOOOO please no, I HATE them. They are tacky, nasty and not nice at all. I have loved the daleks with a passion since I can remember, and now they just died.

Last of the Timelords
April 12th, 2010 - 7:09pmI wouldn’t say they are too bad, the back sticking out is a bit odd but everything in the show is changing, so this is just a futuristic impression on Doctor Who. I like it.
Charlie
April 12th, 2010 - 7:07pmErgh! They’ve got hunchbacks! Why stray so far from an excellent design?
