April 11th, 2010 - 9:18pmDidnt want to cause arguments over ‘bad egg’ stories everyone, so aplogies for raising this issue. I agree that it is too early to judge the first stories but I so wanted to like this one but as hard as I tried, I couldnt. Im the first person who hates to knock the programme but I did think there were too many elements over the 45 minutes that were jumbled together. Each season has always had one stinker, right from Hartnells days upto the present. Hopefully this is the one for this season. Theres a lot of stinkers from Tom Bakers era after the Horror of Fang Rock. A lot of stinkers! Anyway, bring on the Daleks next week!

April 11th, 2010 - 8:34pmThe ratings aren’t that low cos there was an FA cup semi final on at the same time so that would have taken at least a million viewers of Doctor Who. So no need to fret the viewers will be back next week

April 11th, 2010 - 8:09pmWe’ve had two episodes so far. It’s too early to say there’s a ‘bad egg’ and it kind of annoys me that people are passing such judgments already. Wait til the season is done, and don’t heap too many expectations on any particular story, just take them as they come.
I thought The Beast Below was quite good. Not ‘instant classic’ but one of those ones that’s rather good but gets neglected in the face of other stories. Matt and Karen continue to delight as a great Doctor/Companion team and there was some nice synthesis with classic series continuity (Earth getting roasted by solar flares in the 29th century was established in “The Ark In Space”). The bits about the whale being tortured by the people reminded me of Planet of the Ood, but this time due to plain ignorance rather than overt racism and greed. And I like that Amy saved the day, it shows she’s already being observant and learning.
@ Callum:
Season 1 – Aliens of London/World War Three & Boom Town (because I despise the Slitheen)
Season 2: Agree with you, Love & Monsters and Fear Her
Season 3: Hard to say, though Last of the Time Lords had too much ‘magic button’ in the ending.
Season 4: No real ‘bad eggs’, but Planet of the Ood and The Doctor’s Daughter were the low performers for me
Seasons 1 and 2 definitely had ‘bad egg’ episodes, but by 3 and 4 even the weaker ones were much better than those of the previous years. The show has definitely improved with each year it’s been on.

April 11th, 2010 - 7:53pmYes but Tardis Wiki says anything!!
But however I think that one of the final episodes will be called Crack In Time and be about the crack in time and there are rumors that they will be called Pandorica Opens and Big Bang. There are also very strong rumors that one of the Silurian episodes is called Cold Blood
the 1st doctor
April 11th, 2010 - 7:19pmepisode 10) is called ‘Vincent and the Doctor. (Well thats what TARDISWikia says!)

April 11th, 2010 - 3:53pm@ Callum Metcalfe
I disagree, I don’t think ‘Fires of Pompeii’ was a bad egg but thats just my opinion.
I don’t think ‘The Beast Below’ was a bad egg either I loved the ending with Winston Churchill!

April 11th, 2010 - 3:42pmI preferred the eleventh hour but The beast below was ok, there were some good twists as such, i think the problem is my anticipation for next weeks episode overshadowed it slightly.

April 11th, 2010 - 3:11pmYes:Here are the bad eggs:
Series One: The Unquiet Dead or Fathers Day
Series Two: Love & Monsters or Fear Her
Series Three: The Lazarus Experiment or 42
Series Four: The Fires Of Pompeii or Midnight
Please say your opinions
I don’t think The Eleventh Hour or The Beast Below have been bad though but however I think the plot for Amy’s Choice sounds stupid so I might not enjoy that one!!

April 11th, 2010 - 1:25pmA lot of fans criticised Russell T Davies for some of his stories, but now that Moffat is head writer maybe the number of stories he has to write may not be of the same quality we are used to. Im a big Russell fan and loved the majority of his stories. I was very dissapointed with last nites, but I still have high hopes for the rest of the season. Every season has one bad egg!!!
third doctor
April 11th, 2010 - 1:16pmthe doctor who episodes dont seem to be exciting it dont have no connection of excitment and serious drama to it. russel t davies done this very well but steven moffat just making it boring

April 11th, 2010 - 1:12pmBit of a worry last nights episode. Hope its just the bad egg of the season. Matt was great again but the story seemed a bit rushed. Who were the Smilers? No explanation and I thought Liz Ten was a bad idea and her acting a bitt ott. Stupid ending too, with Churchill phoning the Doctor! What was that all about? This unfortunately is Moffats first bad story. I aint blinkered and been a Who fan since ’74 and have to say I didnt enjoy it. Last weeks was much better. I hope Victory of the Daleks is a return to form.
the doctor’s adventures
April 11th, 2010 - 11:50amThe Beast Below was a brilliant episode even at the end when Winston Curchill phoned the Doctor and we sore the Dalek’s shadow and when wee sore the Beast undernieth Starship UK and Amy saying her ryhm about the Beast and seeing the Crack that was in Amys room in the Evleventh Hour about the Pandorica that the universe is cracking up.

Some bloke writing a comment
April 8th, 2010 - 2:38amI find it funny how people are saying the new theme tune isn’t good and it shouldn’t have been tampered with, despite the fact it’s closer to the original. Also, I believe the fact Matt Smith acts like David Tennant shall only be temporary, as if it’s a completely different character the not-so die-hard fans will feel like it’s too different to watch, and even Moffat who is trying to return the series to greatness knows that he can’t afford to loose figures. Matt Smith is doing fine, and of course he is going to receive a vast amount of criticism from the people who aren’t willing to give him a full try.

April 6th, 2010 - 6:45pmThey weren’t specific although Rory didn’t seem happy when Jeff was mentioned, so who knows.

April 5th, 2010 - 8:04pmSeries 1 or Series 5
Technically it’s series 31 🙂

April 5th, 2010 - 8:00pmI thoroughly enjoyed the episode and rank it up there with the best of the series’ Doctor-Intro stories. Matt IS the Doctor, no matter what else some people might think. I also loved the hologram of all the other Doctors and them Matt stepping through: “Hello. I’m the Doctor. Basically… run.” That was the moment when his Doctor finally clicked into place.
Karen is also brilliant as Amy. With much of her life built around her childhood encounter with the Doctor and how that affected her, I think it’ll bring a new dynamic to the Doctor/Companion relationship we haven’t seen before.

April 5th, 2010 - 6:16pmWas a little apprehensive as thought David Tennant was great but thought Matt did a fantastic job. Great story to start the series and love the new assistant.
I think Steve Moffat’s stories are great. They have the humour but with suspense and a scary edge.
This is going to be a superb series!
