Potentially the Valeyard… The master says early on that the valeyard is a future incarnation of the Dr… and an mash up of all of the
    Dr’s darkness.

And the GI said the valeyard was a future name for the dr (or one of his versions)

And with the possibility of a paradox (<3) it could well be the dr always klnew/knows its a future self who already ended the timewar crossing his own timeline.

Hell who cares tho! epic episode, now a bloody long wait :S

I think that John Hurt’s Doctor is what was in Room 11 in The God Complex, or is it just me?

#lightening the mood and pointing out things no one else thought of because we were all caught up in the conversations of the actual name / future doctor

    Thank you.

As far as i’m concerned, John Hurt’s doctor comes years later (hence being an older actor – at last) who broke the promise. Sonce all 11 so far have been doing good, and since there’s no reason ANOTHER time war could break out, the doctor continues going on doing good until one day, (tardis sounds here) doctor 18 or 26 or whatever steps out into a war. Naturally he wants to help out. He tries to find the usual win-win situation and fix everything.but this time he cant. So he does the best thing he can. But he kills in the process, and so corrupts the Name of the Doctor. Hence, we follow the storyline of John Hurt, the bad doctor, until Matt Smith’s airtime is ready to be played again. hence, filler episodes. But i reckon in the end when the Hurt doctor has to make his big choice, something will happen like Smith comes in and stops him or something. That just seems probable. That’s just what i got from it, anyway. I’ll stop there, shall i.

Well first of all Nine is not coming. Christopher Eccleston is basically finished as the Doctor. And not every doctor is coming/will be represented.

    @ time vortex

Doctor who is not about cute couples. If you want that, start watching soap operas! Doctor Who is all about mystery and heroes and seeing things that others dont!

    The 12 or 13 doctor

  • Time Vortex

    May 21st, 2013 - 2:56am

Because really? If my hypothesis is true, that can’t be the 12 or the 13 or anything like that, so yah, maybe an aged 8

Has anyone Else noticed that when the doctor regenerates, he looks younger? Or is it just me?

After the series ended there were a few ways to continue it, like books. There was a series of books stating it was the 8th doctor, the same one in the movie, who ended the time war. It depends in if you count the books as series relevant. Although other things have changed since they bought the series back…

    TheOncomingHurricane – It’s a wibbily-wobbily, timey-wimey thing. (or…the same way you can archive something that hasn’t happened yet. If you’re a TARDIS…)

  • Jasonsdofg

Is it possible that John Hurts Doctor could be an aged 8? The Time War would have raged for years and we know the toll it took on The Doctor so couldn’t he be 8 at the end just before regenerating into 9? That’s my theory anyway.

Steven Moffat has even said that he would never want to know what the actual name of the Doctor is, no matter what it was, it would be a let down. The entire point of the show is Doctor WHO? The title is a trap pretty much to gain attention and lead to what Eleven says at the end, what has been done in the the name of the Doctor.

‘He’s the one who broke the promise’

How can you break a promise that’s yet to be made?
