The first Doctor clips were a were a mix of archive footage from The Aztecs and new footage.
The Five Doctors
The second and Third Doctor clips were originally from The Five Doctors
The Invasion of Time
The Fourth Doctor clip was from The Invasion of Time

May 28th, 2013 - 5:34pmHave people really not thought about the fact that the 11th doctor said: I said he was me. I didn’t say he was the doctor.

May 28th, 2013 - 5:32pmbut the doctor says: Who else. WHO else?

May 27th, 2013 - 2:08amBut they’ve used clips from the movie on past episodes. Besides, I would very disappointed in the BBC if this was the case and they weren’t willing to buy him back. A worthy use if tax payer’s money if ever I saw one, and I doubt Fox would care, they didn’t see the value in Who in 1996

May 27th, 2013 - 2:05amOooh, same. I thought it was Gallifrey, but after seeing the video again I google image-ed the Library and the buildings are identical.

May 27th, 2013 - 1:58amThen you miss the point of the episode.
It’s actually a clever misdirection by Moffat. What we all thought the episode was promising was his name. It wasn’t, it was revealing what his name represented. Id est ‘[Whar you did] was not in *the Name of the Doctor*.’

May 26th, 2013 - 8:02pmyes but it was just for a blink of an eye

May 26th, 2013 - 6:55pmIt might be the cold medicine, but I am wondering: Do the clips chosen of the other Doctors actually mean specific things about the 50th other than them simply being there?
master spectacular
May 26th, 2013 - 4:32pmActually, No, since the 3 doctors b/c the five doctor only showed stock footage from Shada for Tom Baker’s bit.
Chris Miller
May 26th, 2013 - 2:09pmFirst episode since 5 doctors. Dimensions only featured 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7

May 25th, 2013 - 1:38pmThat was the Sixth Doctor/Colin Baker and it is Peter Davison!!!!
Dalek: the Supreme
May 24th, 2013 - 1:06pmYou know, I hate to state the obvious, but it just has to be said! This episode actually features all Eleven Doctors! It’s the first episode since Dimensions in Time to feature every Doctor!
Dalek: the Supreme
May 24th, 2013 - 1:04pmWe all know the Doctor bears a huge ammount of guilt for all the pain and misery he’s caused in the process of saving the universe. He must have seen something that ties into his inner darkness.

May 24th, 2013 - 2:21amThe one you’re thinking of is Arc of Infinity, which had Peter Davison as the Doctor, but Colin Baker had a small role as a Time Lord guard named Maximillian. It also happened to be where they pulled the 5th Doctor footage from.

May 23rd, 2013 - 5:39pmThe Valeyard was created somewhere between the Doctors 12th and 13th life. The Master really didn’t expalin beyond that ion “Trail of the Timelord”

May 23rd, 2013 - 7:02amOk, it does indeed look like the 8th before the 2nd. My bad. I hadn’t been able to get the pause and slo-mo right. I see him now. I still think they used both a stand-in and the five doctors clip for 2 sort of like they did with 1, though.

May 23rd, 2013 - 4:18amIn order for him to have broken a promise, he has to have made it. So it isn’t before 1. I agree with Tom who said he ended the time war. We know he intentionally destroyed the Time Lords from 10, so this must be who did it. That’s why 11 knows who he is and that what he did was an act of peace and sanity.

May 22nd, 2013 - 12:10pmThe Valeyard isn’t a mash up, it’s the personification of the Doctor’s negative energy. ‘mash up’ ? 😆 !

May 22nd, 2013 - 8:36amThis notion that the 8th Doctor is briefly seen at the start of the clip for the 2nd is pretty flimsy. It doesn’t really look like 8 at all. I don’t think 8 was in it, period; which is really sad.
I think the whole 2nd Doctor clip is a combination of The Five Doctors scene and footage of a 2nd Doctor stand-in. They staged it like the 2nd Doctor nearly knocks Clara over, which required some kind of stand-in to run past her. Remember the heavily rumored sightings of an actor dressed as the 2nd Doctor during filming for the finale? I think this scene is where that all comes in to play.
On a side note, does anyone think both the 1st and 2nd Doctor stand-ins used here could be the actors that were hired for An Adventure In Space And Time?

May 22nd, 2013 - 6:42amNo, ending the time war is ok. The Doctor is at times at peace with it, and sometimes not, but he is always the Doctor and it was necessary for the story/character. I think whatever promise the Valeyard/Not-Doctor broke was a different when and possibly a different dimension and will end/begin with a battle with his selves. Perhaps it was before 1st Doctor, perhaps it is after the last Doctor (!). But to have his time line/wibbly mish mash as a memorial was brilliant. He runs out of regenerations, but his identity/ies remain intact. He and the TARDIS become the one thing. Still want to know how River knows his name and how he could say it ‘one time’…note I want to know how, not the actual name.

May 22nd, 2013 - 3:46amExcept that the current Doctor was going to be cast a little older, and Matt blew them away at the audition. It’s not always the case anyway – the actors aren’t all getting younger.

May 22nd, 2013 - 1:37amagree with jorney but nightmare in silver i thought was great acting by MS and i enjoyed it almost as much as the name of the doctor. on a whole this series has been weak to say the least, and i feel this has been the case since moffat took over. now moffat is playing around with regens, already people are speculating that matt smith is now the 12th regen and that i have issues with. as any DW fan knows the doc can only regen 12 times if MS is now the 12th this means DW lays in his hands because if he moves on like david T did that it no more who!. i hope to god im wrong!!
