The Official Doctor Who Podcast Regenerates

London, May 10, 2024 – Doctor Who has a brand-new podcast.

The Official Doctor Who Podcast regenerates this weekend alongside the highly-anticipated simultaneous global launch of the new season Doctor Who on the BBC in the UK and Disney+, where available.

From BBC Studios, and crafted by the game-changing team behind the record-breaking visualised podcast, The Traitors: Uncloaked, the revamped Official Doctor Who Podcast will deliver exclusives, special guests and more easter eggs and fan theories than you can shake a sonic screwdriver at.

Join brand-new hosts, Nadia Jae (BBC Radio 1Xtra Breakfast) and Shabaz Ali (comedian and content creator), as they bring their fresh perspectives to the Whoniverse along with guest stars from Doctor Who and other guests, including showrunner Russell T Davies. Shot in a specially crafted set that’s dripping in Doctor Who iconography, the podcast is for new fans of the show and old fans alike.

Designed as the ultimate group chat for Doctor Who, the podcast will tap into and lead the social conversation, becoming the key destination for dissecting and celebrating everything in the Whoniverse. This is the place for fan theories, easter eggs, and all the latest gossip. Plus – it will bring exclusive content to fans of Doctor Who, including insights and teasers.

The Official Doctor Who Podcast will drop weekly after each Doctor Who episode airs on BBC One starting on Saturday 11th May, and can be found on all major podcast platforms globally and BBC Sounds (UK only). It will also be broadcast globally in video on the Doctor Who YouTube channel.

Podcast production agency Listen are creating and producing this relaunch which will match the ambition of Listen’s recent chart-topping shows – The Traitors: Uncloaked, Olivia Attwood’s So Wrong It’s Right, and 53 Minutes.

Nadia Jae said: “I’m so honoured to be hosting the podcast to one of the biggest shows in this country and beyond. Doctor Who is a name you know whether you’re a Whovian or a Newvian! I’m so excited for new and old fans to see this incredible regeneration of the Doctor with Ncuti and Millie taking us on a journey like never before. Into the Whoniverse we go!”

Shabaz Ali said: “I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who – I’ve been watching it for years, so to be able to host the official podcast is a dream come true. We’ll be digging into every corner of the Whoniverse, watching episodes week-by-week, with special guests and exclusive content. I can’t wait to get started!”

Doctor Who Showrunner Russell T Davies said: “It’s a huge boost of energy, to welcome Nadia and Shabaz as podcast hosts. We want viewers to experience Doctor Who in every format – and this comes complete with a sneak peek at next week!”

Chris Allen, Director of Content Development, BBC Studios Social said: “We are thrilled to share the newly reimagined Official Doctor Who Podcast with the universe. There’s something for everyone in it, whether you’re an avid fan, or a first-time viewer – from fun chat and wild speculation with our brilliant guests, to incredible insights from programme makers. Nadia Jae and Shabaz Ali are the perfect hosts to take us into this brand-new era of Doctor Who, and we’re delighted to have worked with Listen to regenerate the show – their passion and knowledge in this area is unmatched.”

Listen’s Director of Content, Darby Dorras said: “We have become known in podcasting as leaders in the future of companion shows. Crafting a compelling offering for Doctor Who meant we had to approach this project humbly, appreciating all the show’s lore. We’ve created this podcast for both dedicated Whovians and newcomers to Doctor Who globally, an audience spanning generations, cultures, time and space.”

Produced by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios for BBC and Disney Branded Television, Doctor Who Season One kicks off with a simultaneous global launch landing on BBC iPlayer at midnight on 11 May, before airing on BBC One later that day, and on Disney+ from 10 May internationally, where available
