We’re delighted to confirm that the Zygons are returning to Doctor Who for the show’s 50th anniversary special.
Aside from flashbacks these malevolent shape-shifters have only appeared once before, threatening Earth in the Fourth Doctor adventure, Terror of the Zygons. Despite the fact that their solitary outing was over thirty years ago they remain a popular old enemy and in the 2010 episode, The Pandorica Opens, they were amongst the massed aliens said to be gathering above Stonehenge. Later, in The Power of Three, we learnt that Zygons had one of their ships under the Savoy Hotel in 1890 and apparently replaced half the staff with imposters! But this time they really are back…
We’ve already confirmed that in the anniversary special Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman will be joined by the returning David Tennant and Billie Piper. Screen legend John Hurt is also in the cast and earlier today we revealed that Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey, The Syndicate) would also be appearing in this eagerly anticipated adventure.

April 5th, 2013 - 1:50pmI saw the description for the Anti-Time Device (I don’t own it, I just read it off the site) said “After the Doctor disappeared, the Cybermen and Daleks went to war across the universe. And on each world they destroyed they left in their wake, Stone Angels, picking over the dead and dying.”
I’d like to see that happen for the 50th, so the monsters I want to appear are:
1. The Daleks (both bronze and Paradigm)
2. Cybermen
3. Davros
4. Weeping Angels

The BBC have actual said he met twice with Steven Moffat recently
However, the BBC has now told Digital Spy that Eccleston was never attached to the 50th and that his decision has had no impact on production.
“Chris met with Steven Moffat a couple of times to talk about Steven’s plans for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode,” an official source said.
“After careful thought, Chris decided not to be in the episode. He wishes the team all the best.”
The fact that they met must mean he may have considered it.

As Karen herself said last year, she does not want her and Arther to ever return cos she feels their sad ending of Amy and Rory will be ruined if they where to return to Doctor Who, and Steven Moffat himself has no intention of bringing them back, he said that the story of Amy and Rory is officially over.
No Martha thanks, can’t stand her.
Cybermen are returning with a new look, don’t know about the Ood, but the Silence might.

Also David Tennant and Billie Piper to return is great too and with John Hurt! 😀

April 4th, 2013 - 9:42pmThey update them so they’re more powerful and threatening, to fit with the story, or because the old props were lost or destroyed. They changed the Cybermen all the time in the Classic Series, the Daleks were often tweaked, and given redesigns in 2005 and 2010.
