They’re Back – After 35 Years Absence
They’re Back – after 35 Years of absence (On Television)
Recent filming pictures have included images of the return of an advanced guard of saboteurs for a well known enemy. You can see a history below.
If you do not wish to know any more then don’t click the spoiler tag!
Our own impression of the new Cybermats…
Cybermats act as the advanced guard and are mainly used for sabotage. This makes things easier for the Cybermen as the Cybermats are much smaller and can easily gain access to forbidden or secure areas.
1st Generation of Cybermats
The Cybermats first featured in The Tomb of the Cybermen. The original Cybermats had crystalline eyes and a segmented body with sensor fronds along their base.
2nd Generation of Cybermats
The Cybermats that appeared in The Wheel in Space were very similar to the ones that had appeared in The Tomb of the Cybermen. They had stronger armour and solid photoreceptors for eyes.
3rd Generation of Cybermats
The 3rd generation of Cybermats were a lot larger than the previous versions, they still had a segmented body but no eyes. The Cybermat that appeared in Revenge of the Cybermen could be remote controlled.
Blood of the Cybermen
The Cybermats made a return in the 2010 Doctor Who Adventure Games Blood of the Cybermen.

September 30th, 2011 - 11:05amI thought the portrayal of the Cybermen in this Series was very good, better than we’ve seen them inrecent years were they were really jsut nothing but monsters, not really a menace just a threatening monster that tries to get you, really.
THough it was great, yeah. 😉

August 6th, 2011 - 4:14pmThis continues the trend of a monster returning every series:

Series 3 – Macra and the Master

September 30th, 2011 - 11:03amThey weren’t really the original macra in Series 3, I think they just called them the macra at the last minute, you know ? But they were really just primitive giant-monsters in that episode (Gridlock) so they were sortof like beastly and devolved macra, not the ones form 60’s. :/
Dalek Sec
October 4th, 2011 - 8:44amWeren’t they the more primitive descendants of the Marca, who had devolved brains, but a evolved bodies made to feast on the gases of hovercars.
My memory of that episode is a bit blurry.

July 22nd, 2011 - 4:40pmThis continues the trend of at least one new monster/villain/alien returning from the classic series each year.
Series 1 – Autons, Nestene Consciousness Daleks, Dalek Emperor
Series 2 – Cybermen
Series 3 – Macra, The Master
Series 4 – Sontarans, Davros
Series 5 – Silurians
Series 6 – Cybermats

August 6th, 2011 - 4:12pmNo, you got one thing one. The Dalek Emperor should not be included.
Intergalactic
August 6th, 2011 - 4:15pmWe don’t include the Cyber-Controller, so why should we include the Dalek Emperor? Ridiculous.

September 30th, 2011 - 8:52amthe emperor was in the classic series though

October 4th, 2011 - 8:49amSo was the Cyber controller. Nice list, bring back the sea devils and the Axons. I always loved the Vervoids.

Mad man with a box
July 21st, 2011 - 7:40amI think the pandorica cybermen should have had a plain chestplate because the cybus cybermen are trapped in the void and the same with the next doctor
drwhosnippets
August 22nd, 2011 - 2:43pmWell, the next doctor ones were a group that survived. But I agree with the pandorica guard having a plain chest.

July 14th, 2011 - 4:00pmi think that the cybermats will be double agents, and work for the cybus cybermen but really work for the mondas cybermen so they know what the cybus cybermen are doing.i think the mondas cybermen will have greater wepons than the others and try to destroy them.also maybe the cybus cybermen will go to the doctor for help
WHO knows?
please comment

July 22nd, 2011 - 11:45amYes, who knows… Although it seems unlikely, sorry. 🙂

July 12th, 2012 - 9:50pmIn “The Next Doctor”, it was said that when the Daleks broke down the walls between dimensions with the reality bombs, everything in the Void died except a group of Cybermen, who were destroyed. So unless some are still on Parallel Earth, the Cybus Cybermen are(thankfully) extinct.
Intergalactic
July 1st, 2011 - 2:36pmThese must be of Cybus kind.

May 14th, 2011 - 8:19pmHow do you find out when they film Doctor Who?
Intergalactic
July 22nd, 2011 - 11:45amYou don’t. You just wander around Cardiff, and you spot them. Word of advice, don’t spoil the Doctor Who secrets. Moffat will hate you forever, and you wouldn’t want that, would you?

April 21st, 2011 - 4:52pmSPOILERS ALERT SPOILERS ALERT
i saw a picture of the new telos and mondas cybermen. they look
the same but they dont have a c on their chest and it is just plain. what happens is that the doc goes back to telos(somehow) and finds the cybus cybers against the telos and mondas cybers and the doc says thats cool and walks away. the cybermen stop and take the battle to earth for reinfocments grabbing anyone possible and the doc says not cool and tries to stop them… this is the cliffhanger ep between spring and autumn. dont blame me if this isnt true as i read this and the sight has not said if this is true or false so dont get your hopes up
Dalek Sec
May 12th, 2011 - 5:09amI’m not goin to be dispointed as i’m not gettin my hopes up, but i’ve always imagined a war between the Cybermen!

June 29th, 2011 - 6:25pmi think they will and does this mean that the cybermen in the second half of the series or not.
Intergalactic
July 1st, 2011 - 2:36pmThere isn’t any “real” Cybermen, there are loads of different types, Cybus, Mondasian, Arctic ones in “Blood of the Cybermen”, and the Cyber-Legion ones in “A Good Man Goes to War”. I do count the Cybus ones as the Cyberman, because they are, and so are the Mondasian ones, the Arctic ones and the Cyber-Legion ones. Their importance is all equal.

I Love Cybermen
March 17th, 2011 - 8:35amGood name, yes, except I suspect the lead monsters will be the cybermen and that the cybermats will be a part of their dastardly plan- so, though they shall be done justice I’m sure- they won’t be the ‘major’ monster in that episode I would guess having seen all the old ‘cybermat’ episodes…
