They’re Back – After 35 Years Absence

They’re Back – after 35 Years of absence (On Television)

Recent filming pictures have included images of the return of an advanced guard of saboteurs for a well known enemy. You can see a history below.

If you do not wish to know any more then don’t click the spoiler tag!

Our own impression of the new Cybermats…

Cybermats act as the advanced guard and are mainly used for sabotage. This makes things easier for the Cybermen as the Cybermats are much smaller and can easily gain access to forbidden or secure areas.

1st Generation of Cybermats
The Cybermats first featured in The Tomb of the Cybermen. The original Cybermats had crystalline eyes and a segmented body with sensor fronds along their base.

2nd Generation of Cybermats
The Cybermats that appeared in The Wheel in Space were very similar to the ones that had appeared in The Tomb of the Cybermen. They had stronger armour and solid photoreceptors for eyes.

3rd Generation of Cybermats

The 3rd generation of Cybermats were a lot larger than the previous versions, they still had a segmented body but no eyes. The Cybermat that appeared in Revenge of the Cybermen could be remote controlled.

Blood of the Cybermen

The Cybermats made a return in the 2010 Doctor Who Adventure Games Blood of the Cybermen.

In “The Next Doctor”, it was said that when the Daleks broke down the walls between dimensions with the reality bombs, everything in the Void died except a group of Cybermen, who were destroyed. So unless some are still on Parallel Earth, the Cybus Cybermen are(thankfully) extinct.

So was the Cyber controller. Nice list, bring back the sea devils and the Axons. I always loved the Vervoids.

Weren’t they the more primitive descendants of the Marca, who had devolved brains, but a evolved bodies made to feast on the gases of hovercars.
My memory of that episode is a bit blurry.

I thought the portrayal of the Cybermen in this Series was very good, better than we’ve seen them inrecent years were they were really jsut nothing but monsters, not really a menace just a threatening monster that tries to get you, really.

THough it was great, yeah. 😉

They weren’t really the original macra in Series 3, I think they just called them the macra at the last minute, you know ? But they were really just primitive giant-monsters in that episode (Gridlock) so they were sortof like beastly and devolved macra, not the ones form 60’s. :/

Well, the next doctor ones were a group that survived. But I agree with the pandorica guard having a plain chest.

We don’t include the Cyber-Controller, so why should we include the Dalek Emperor? Ridiculous.

This continues the trend of a monster returning every series:

Series 1 – Autons, the Nestene Consciousness and Daleks
Series 2 – Cybermen (albeit a parallel version)
Series 3 – Macra and the Master
Series 4 – Sontarans and Davros
    Series 5 – Silurians

No, you got one thing one. The Dalek Emperor should not be included.

This continues the trend of at least one new monster/villain/alien returning from the classic series each year.

    Series 2 – Cybermen
Series 3 – Macra, The Master
    Series 4 – Sontarans, Davros

They are Cybermats, not Cybermen. They will probably be Cybus.

That was a video game, so don’t count it. Never count them. It’s a very bad thing to do. They last appeared in 1975 alongside the Fourth Doctor in “Revenge of the Cybermen”. but have a look at this: http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu82/platform40/CybermatMK3-1.jpg. This is what they last looked like!

I don’t think that’s the title. Good guess though! 🙂
